REGINALD SEDMAN

Well known Moose Jaw businessman Reginald (Red) Thomas Sedman passed away on January 20, 2011 at the age of 81. Reginald was the only son of Wilfred and Virginia Sedman born December 8, 1929 in Regina, Saskatchewan. Reg started kindergarten at Victoria School in Regina. He attended elementary school there until his father was transferred to Saskatoon with Toledo Scales. While in Saskatoon he attended Saskatoon Technical High School. He moved to Regina to start his electrical apprenticeship, working for Lorne Electric in Regina. He formed Red's Electric after he received his journeyman and contracting license. Reg started his wiring business, bringing the power to homes and farms in the rural area around Moose Jaw, and surrounding districts. Reg met Alice Lynds at a Quincy School dance in the early 1950's. They enjoyed many country dances, and he proposed to her at Temple Gardens, March 10, 1954. The orchestra played "Harbour Lights" for their engagement dance. They were married at St. Andrews United Church, on June 26, 1954. They started their married life and family in Buttress. They moved to Moose Jaw in 1957, where the family grew from two to six children. Reg continued to build his electrical contracting business wiring homes, businesses, and schools. Reg built the first coin operated carwash in Saskatchewan, in 1962, in Moose Jaw. He named it, "The Big K Carwash." At this time he changed his electrical company's name to "Big K Electric." He expanded the business going into manufacturing of carwash equipment and sold many systems throughout the province, under “The Big K Enterprises Ltd”. Reg was a very creative person, who enjoyed designing and building many new homes for his family. He enjoyed the outdoors, and especially the cabin at Buffalo Pound Lake. Reg and Alice enjoyed music and dancing. They belonged to the Buttons and Bows square dance club at St. Andrews Church. Reg is predeceased by his parents, Wilfred and Virginia Sedman, his father and mother-in-law Archie and Jean Lynds, brothers-in-law Arnold Field, Ronald Lynds, sister-in-law Mary Ellen Powell, brother-in-law Kenneth Lynds, nieces and nephew. He leaves to treasure his memory, loving wife of fifty six and half years, Alice, six children: Constance (David) Dyck, Alicia and Leighton; Debra (Clifford) Luther, Dallas, Dustin, Ashley, and Clinton; Greg Sedman, Justin, Wayne; Beverly Shepley-Sedman, Ryan, Virginia (Anthony Laic) (great-granddaughter Alexis); James Sedman (Angela), Colton, Jordan; Desiree (great-granddaughter Makiyla), Colby, Cassidy Tarrant; and Curtis Sedman; Reg's only sister, Marilyn (Danny) Donison; sisters-in-law Mabel (Gerald) Howes, Ruby Elaine Field, Bette-Jeann Akins-Lynds; brothers-in-law Elwood Lynds, Melvin (Eleanor) Lynds, Vernon Lynds, Duane Powell, sister-in-law Rolanda (Ron) Lynds, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. The family would like to thank all those who cared for "Reg" at Extendicare and Moose Jaw Union Hospital. Special thanks to Dr. Ramadan. The Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew's United Church, 60 Athabasca St. East, Moose Jaw, on Friday, January 28, 2011, at 1:30 pm, with Reverend Lynne Clarke officiating. Visitation Thursday evening 7:30 to 9:00 pm, at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations in Reg's memory may be made to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 455 Fairford St. E, Moose Jaw, S6H IH3, or the Canadian Diabetic Association, 917 Albert St. , Regina, S4R 2P6, would be appreciated. In living memory of Reg, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

FERN BERG

Mrs. Fern Berg was born January 6, 1937 and passed away on December 17, 2010. She is predeceased by her parents. Fern will be lovingly remembered by her husband Carl; daughter Jackie (Bernie) Mchefske of Red Deer, AB; son Tim (Debbie) Berg of Kelowna, BC; three grandchildren, Jeff, Brad and Chad all of Red Deer and brother Jim (Lucy) Ketter. In keeping with Fern’s wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date. For those so wishing memorial donations may be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society. In living memory of Fern, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

EDWARD SEGALL

Edward Isaac Segall passed away on June 18, 2011. Ed is survived by his loving wife Audrey; sons Sammy and Saul; daughter Lorrie; brothers Herman and Bill and their families. A Family Graveside Service will be held at a later date. What made Mr. Segall a great teacher was that he truly loved his students. In living memory of Ed, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

MARILYN OAKLEY

Marilyn Oakley, age 64, of Moose Jaw, passed away Saturday January 16, 2010. She is survived by her children: James, Marcie, and Raymond. The Funeral Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Friday January 22, 2010 at 10:30 am. Corinne Jacobson will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Memorials to the Humane Society, Box 1658, Moose Jaw, S6H 7K7, would be appreciated. In living memory of Marilyn, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

JOSEPH PIERRE "PETER" BERUBE

On Wednesday, July 21, 2010, MR. JOSEPH PIERRE “PETER” BERUBE of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan passed away at the age of 87 years. Predeceased by his parents, Eusebe and Catherine, wife, Clara, daughter, Joan; two brothers: Louis and Flavius and brother-in-law, Freeman Vinge, Peter is lovingly survived by his children, Louis Berube of Ottawa, Ontario, Janice (Cam) Ellik of Cold Lake, Alberta, Gerard Berube of Moose Jaw and Naomi (Thomas) Dunbar of Saskatoon; grandchildren: Amelinda (Corey), Liana, Zelie and Dylyn; great-granddaughter, Rose; siblings: Armand (Genevieve) and Therese Vinge as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 – 3rd Avenue N.W., Moose Jaw. Father Louis Kim Nguyen will preside. Memorialization will take place at a later date. For those so wishing, memorial donations may be directed to the Saskatchewan Heart & Stroke Foundation, 279 3rd Ave. N., Saskatoon, S7K 2H8 or to a charity of one’s choice. In living memory of Joseph, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

ADOLPH GROSS

Adolph passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at the age of 84 years. He was born August 22, 1925 in Bayard, Saskatchewan where he farmed most of his life. He married Hedwig Beitel in 1953. They moved to Moose Jaw in 1979 and enjoyed going to the farm every season to help his sons. He took great pride in raising cattle and loved his horses. He was a councilor for R.M.100 for 30 years. He loved music and enjoyed playing his banjo and played in a band from the time he was fourteen years old. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Hedwig, two sons Barry (Karen) and Blaine (Sherri); grandchildren: Kyle – Calgary, Brandon – Avonlea and Levi – Briercrest and great-grandson, Teagan – Calgary, sisters: Annie, Victoria and Elsie. Predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth and John, brothers, Eddy and Rudolph, sisters, Matilda and Eva. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3rd Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Reverend Father Carlos Jimenez will be the celebrant. The Prayer Service will be held Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E. Moose Jaw. For those so wishing, memorial may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2. In living memory of Adolph, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W.J Jones & Son Funeral Home.

STELLA ELIZABETH (BETTY) MAUD YOUNG
June 1, 1922 – May 23, 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stella Elizabeth known to everyone as Betty. She was born on the family farm near Lancer on June 1, 1922. Betty was predeceased by her husband Robert; parents Mary and Charles Rayner; brothers Walter, Arthur, Phillip; and sisters Kathleen and Ruby. She is survived by a sister Jean Munro, daughter Sandra Meginbir (Paul) and son Trevor Young (Phyllis), also a granddaughter, Nicole Meginbir and grandson Christopher Meginbir (Tanis) as well as numerous nephews and nieces. She will be missed by all her family and friends. Betty’s career included working at Prairie Bag, Blackwood’s Hardware, Kids Town, and finishing up with thirty years at Sears. The Funeral Service will be held at W.J. Jones & Son Chapel on Friday, May 27, 2011 at 11:00 am. Reverend Bob Langdon will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Sask. Heart and Stroke Foundation, 279 Third Ave. N., Saskatoon, S7K 2H8, would be appreciated. In living memory of Betty, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
