Gladys Dods of Moose Jaw, SK passed away June 27, 2011 at the age 82 years. She was born October 1, 1928 in Lafleche, SK. Gladys married Ralph Dods in 1952. The couple resided in various communities in Saskatchewan before making their home in Moose Jaw in 1962. Gladys began her career at Valley View Center where she served for 25 years. She will be remembered for her love of family and enjoying knowing so many friends in the community. She is predeceased by her son Allen (2006); her parents Dennis and Leona Dorgan; four brothers and one sister. Gladys is survived by her loving and caring husband Ralph; sons Keith and Mel (Patrick); two grandchildren Steve (Paula) and their children Drew and Oaklan, Sherry and her children Paige and Zaydin; sister Leona (Wes) Reader; daughter-in-law Wendy; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in- law; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. A Celebration of Gladys’s life will be held on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at 3:00pm at W.J. Jones and Son Chapel. Gladys’ brother-in-law, Glen Dods will officiate. Cremation with memorialization to follow at a later date. For those so wishing memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Cher, Sun Valley's “First Lady”, loving and cherished wife of Barry; mother of Darren (Kim) and Cheryl Anne (Kirk); sister of Marilyn; sister-in-law to Barb and Merv; daughter-in-law to John and Kathleen; aunt to Reg; Jane and Kevin; Jason, Lisa and Skylar; and very proud grandma to Daniel, Brody, and Jade, passed away peacefully from a stroke on March 29, 2009. As per Cher’s wishes, a celebration of her life and good times will be held May 16, 2009 at the Sun Valley Clubhouse from 2 – 5 pm, for all of Cher’s friends, who were all like family to her. ELAINE BLANCHARD
Elaine Blanchard, formerly of the Parkbeg district, passed away after a short, courageous battle with cancer, at Pioneers Lodge in Moose Jaw on August 10, 2010. Elaine was born at Parkbeg in 1935, where she lived a good part of her life. She worked at the store there, and helped her father with the telephone office for many years. In 1953 she married Hubert Blanchard and they farmed together in the Parkbeg district. In her younger days, Elaine loved to play hockey, and curling, and enjoyed watching both. After moving to Moose Jaw she was a Walmart greeter for a number of years. Elaine was a member of the Parkbeg Gloom Chasers Club, the Mizpah Chapter of the Eastern Star, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She is predeceased by her parents, Walter Winkler and Anne Parsons; her first husband Hubert, and second husband Albert Brousseau. She leaves her daughter, Denise Young and children Heather (Jason Saritson), Torrance, Orion, and Josh; Shawn (Kim) Young, Emma; sons Barry, Don (Cindy) and children Melissa (Chris) Lafferty, Maya, Zoe, and Ava; Rachelle (Nick) Yeoman and Danica; Kyle (Amy); Kristen, Brianna and Savana; and Warren; brother Carl (Grace) Winkler; sister Marilyn Dumonceau, and half-sister Deanna; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Pioneers Lodge for the very special care Mom received. The Funeral Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Saturday August 14, 2010 at 2:00 pm. Pastor Marvin Seaborg will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Memorials to the Sask. Isabella Rosie Campbell (nee Keller), born January 8, 1932 in Wilkie, SK, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 25, 2011 in Moose Jaw. Predeceased by parents, Henry and Maria Keller (Kuhn), husband Thomas Campbell (2006), brothers, Pete (Irene), Frank (Kay), John and Jake; sisters, Annie (Art) Haase, Katie (Ed) Fortin, Elsie (Bob) Fyfe and Mary (Martin) Janzen. Isabella is survived by daughters, Judy Campbell, and Kathy Campbell Tillie (Dave); son, Tom (Wendy); grandchildren, Kent Dutchak, Keith Dutchak (Tammie), Krystal Tillie Stewart (Darren), Rob Tillie (Danielle Panchuk), Joe Tillie (fiancé Gayle Roncin), Ryan Campbell, Amanda Campbell (Mike Whitefield), Matt Campbell (Amy Thorsteinson); great-granddaughters, Ayden and Kinley Dutchak; brothers, Henry (Lyla), Lloyd (Fern); sisters, Helen Henetiuk (Mert), Lorraine Pottle (Norm); sister-in-law Phyllis Keller; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. SUSAN GERAGHTY
Susan Geraghty of Moose Jaw passed away April 4, 2011 at the age of 91. She was born at Horsham, SK on December 13, 1919. Susan married Paul in 1942. They settled in Moose Jaw and raised three daughters. Susan retired after many years of service at Valley View Centre. Retirement years were joyous, filled with frequent visits from children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by parents; husband, Paul; infant daughter, Cathy; four brothers and three sisters. She will be sadly missed by daughters Linda (Greg) Honey, Janet Geraghty, and Elizabeth Geraghty; grandchildren Jillian (Vince) Stevenson, Christa (Sandy) Honey-Vidal, Shea Honey, Grayson Honey; great-grandchildren Kain, Kerigan, and Oakley as well as several nieces and nephews. In keeping wish Susan’s wishes a private family Service of Remembrance will take place. For those so wishing memorial donations can be made to Charity of Choice. Born March 3, 1998 to Mike and Krista Seip, and passed away April 29, 2011. Deshien is predeceased by his “Papa Clark”, Garry Seip. He is survived by his loving parents, little sister Rayne, and his loyal pet Morty; special Uncles Brett Jerred – Calgary, and Jeff Seip (Julie) and their children Deion and Evan – Moose Jaw; Auntie Kim (Bob) and her children Jordan, Kolton, and Kennedi – Moose Jaw; Grandparents Dave and Doreen Jerred - Sun Valley Beach Buffalo Pound Lake, Grandma Kathi Seip - Parkview Buffalo Pound Lake; his Great Grandmothers - Irene Loken of Assiniboia and Velma Sutherland of Moose Jaw as well as Great-Great-Grandmother Jeanne Buchanan of Providence Place in Moose Jaw; as well as several extended aunts, uncles, and cousins, and many friends of all ages. Deshien had many passions in life and was an outdoors child. He loved to ride his mountain bike and looked forward to returning to the mountains to ride this summer. He loved backcountry snowmobiling in the mountains of British Columbia with his dad and special uncles, motocross racing, snowboarding, wakeboarding, bird hunting with dad and fishing at Buffalo Pound Lake. He had a talent for photography, participated in basketball and was an accomplished swimmer. His charismatic free spirit, great wit, and sense of humour will be missed by all who shared in his life. The Celebration of Deshien’s life will be held at the Alliance Church, corner of Ninth Ave. NW and Thatcher Dr., on Wednesday May 4, 2011 at 2:00 pm. Della Ferguson will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Memorials to the Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658, Moose Jaw, S6H 7K7, would be appreciated. NORMA THOME
Norma R. Thome, 82 years, passed away peacefully with her family by her side November 25, 2009 at Union Hospital. Norma is survived by her son Dwight (Judy) Hardy, daughter Lila (Mervin) Wareham also by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. In keeping with Norma’s wishes the family will hold a private farewell. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by her family. Ruby Ursula Felt (nee Dunlop)
Ruby was born on December 28, 1916 in the Eastleigh area, South West of Mortlach, Saskatchewan. On November 27, 1935 Ruby married Johnie Felt and they had five children. Ruby is predeceased by Johnie in 1996 and daughter Leona in 1998. She is survived by her four sons; Donnie (Jane) of Salmon Arm, BC; Robert (Angie) of Fort McMurray, AB; Duane (Elaine) of Calgary, AB; and Ivan (Anne) of Regina, SK.; her sister-in-law Diane Dunlop of Moose Jaw as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins. Ruby passed away peacefully on November 23, 2009 at Pioneer Lodge Nursing Home in Moose Jaw. During their life together, Ruby and Johnie lived in Mortlach, Moose Jaw, Chaplin, Hodgeville and Oungre. Ruby was a life member of the Royal Purple of Canada in Hodgeville as well as a member of the Canadian Legion in Caron. A memorial service to celebrate Ruby's life will be held at a later date.
