DOROTHY McLEAN

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their mother and grandmother, DOROTHY (PEACH) McLEAN of Moose Jaw who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at the age of 94 years. Dorothy was born and raised in Redcar, Yorkshire, England to Alice and Ben Peach. On December 14, 1927 she married Reginald William Peach in Eastleigh, Saskatchewan and raised four children. Dorothy was a life member of the Ladies Auxilliary (ANAVETS), of the Army, Navy and Airforce Veterans in Canada since 1965. She was involved in numerous social activities throughout her life, including bowling and darts. Dorothy was an avid dancer, loved to sing and enjoyed going for walks. Predeceased by her husband, Reginald, two infant sons, her daughter, Alice Urquhart and son, Reg Peach, Dorothy will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Bernice of Sacramento, California, son, Ken (Anne) of Penticton, British Columbia; son-in-law, Ken Urquhart, and daughter-in-law, Ruth Peach; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. As we mourn our loss, our grief is lightened by the many happy memories and the laughter that accompanied these memories. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend Frank Mitchell will officiate. Interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery. For those so wishing, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Association, #301-2550-12th Avenue, Regina, S4P 3X1 or to Providence Place Foundation, 100-2nd Avenue N.E., Moose Jaw, S6H 1B8. In living memory of Dorothy, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

ROBERT ERIC JONES

On Wednesday November 17, Robert Eric Jones, fell asleep in death at the age of 89. He is survived by his wife Hannah Jones of Ft. Qu’Appelle; daughter Linda (Gary) Goodridge of Tappen, BC; daughter Shirley (Norbert) Kotrla of Ft. Qu’Appelle; grandchildren Ben (Roxanne) Kotrla of Winnipeg; Mandi (Blazej) Taras of Bulgaria; Tanis (Rodney) Sumners of Edmonton and their three children; brother-in-law John Carr of San Jose, California and numerous nieces and nephews. Eric was born on October 16, 1921 in Tisdale, Saskatchewan. He was raised on a farm and farmed himself for 20 years. He operated an electronic repair business in Tisdale for 17 years followed by 10½ years as a radio and TV repair instructor at a technical school in Moose Jaw. During this time his greatest love was for the truths he’d come to learn from the Bible. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Chicago in 1955. From that time on he spent much of his free time volunteering to help others learn Bible truth. He was thrilled to be part of a worldwide loving brotherhood. Right up until his death he actively attended and participated in the meetings and conventions of Jehovah’s Witness as well as the public ministry. He will be remembered by family and friends for his faith, loyalty and his dedication to his God Jehovah. He was a very wonderful father, husband and friend. He left an example that is truly worthy of imitation. He was absolutely convinced that his Creator will remember him and resurrect him to live forever on a paradise earth. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 22, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2020 Van Egmond Place, Regina. In living memory of Eric, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

JIM FOUNTAIN

Jim was born October 23, 1921 near Melfort, Saskatchewan to Vivian & Clarence Fountain who moved their family to Morse when Jim was a youngster. Jim started working as a mechanic at the age of 15, eventually obtaining his Journeyman status. He also hauled scrap iron and collected bones to help his mother raise his younger sisters Alice and Peggy while his older brother Stan and younger sister Edith were at war. Jim also had a younger brother Allan who passed away as a youngster. In 1941 Jim went to Kapuskasing, Ont. with his eventual father-in-law Marten Ferguson and cut cord wood in a work camp for 2 years. In 1943 Jim started playing hockey as a goaltender for The Morse Hockey Team. Jim married Florence Ferguson November 10, 1949 and they moved to Porcupine Plain where he worked as a mechanic for almost 2 years. In 1951 shortly after Jim and Florence moved back to Morse, Shirley, the apple of Jim's eye was born. For about the next 10 years Jim worked for Ike Wiens, Horst Vandergrift and then Charlie Billets, before going to work for Lawrence Toews for many years. While working at Toews Garage, Jim also picked up and hauled garbage for the Town of Morse. In 1961 Jim and Florence 's first son Mont was born and in 1962 their other son Morley was born. In the early 70's Jim started Jim's Gulf Service. When the boys were old enough, they started playing hockey. Jim coached them when they were both Pee Wee age. Jim took time almost every spring to take his family to Loon Lake on a fishing trip with extended family and every summer to take his family on a camping vacation. A shoulder injury forced Jim to close his garage at the age of 63. At that time he continued to work part time from his home shop until the fall of 2005. As well, he maintained roadside parks at Val Jean and Ernfold and the Morse Cemetery. Jim enjoyed any time possible visiting with friends and family and especially enjoyed spending time with nieces, nephews and grandchildren. He enjoyed working in his garden, helping with the flower pots as well as decorating his house for Halloween and Christmas every year after closing his garage. Jim also enjoyed playing cards, shaking dice and going to the Casino. More times than not luck was on his side. Jim also took up Sudoku at the age of 85. At the age of 87, Jim passed away peacefully with his family at his side in Herbert hospital January 31, 2009. Jim was predeceased by his father, mother and all his brothers and sisters. Left to mourn are his wife Florence, daughter Shirley (Irvin Hoffman) all from Morse, son Mont (Laurie), grandsons Shawn and Jamie all from Victoria, granddaughters Chantel and Natasha in Kelowna, son Morley (Deanna), grandchildren Justin and Caitlin all from Kamloops, as well as many nieces and nephews and in-laws. The Celebration of Jim’s life was held at the Morse Community Hall on Wednesday February 4, 2009. Memorialization took place in the Morse Cemetery. In living memory of Jim, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by Prairie Memorial Funeral Home, Chaplin.

LOIS BOAN

Lois Boan of Moose Jaw peacefully passed away on Sunday September 5, 2010 at the age of eighty-seven years. Born May 12, 1923 in Moose Jaw, Lois attended the Enterprise School south of the city. She married Stan Boan in August of 1944 and the couple moved to the Camlachie district where they farmed. Lois has been a resident of High Park Towers for a number of years. Predeceased by her parents: Ernest and Agnes Brownlee, her husband; Stan, son: Ken, sister Francis and son-in-law Cecil Sipes. She is survived by her daughter; Dorothy Boan-Sipes – Waterloo, ON; son: Garry (Sheryl) – Calgary; granddaughters: Sherry, Corinna (Jeff), Denise (Earl); grandsons: Michael, Nathan (Toni) and five great-grandchildren: Jessica, Raychel, Amy, Hans and McKenzie, also her brother: Keith (Deli) Brownlee and numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday September 9, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. from the W. J. Jones & Son Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 150 Albert St. , Regina, S4R 2N2, or the Diabetes Association, 917 Albert St. Regina, S4R 2P6. In living memory of Lois, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

Robert James (Jim) Marchessault
October 28, 1937 – May 4, 2011

Jim Marchessault of Moose Jaw passed away at home, with family at his side, on Wednesday May 4, 2011. Jim was born in Gravelbourg, SK, twin to Jan. The ability to overcome and persevere marked Jim’s life endeavors, from the farming that was his youth, to becoming a police officer, a professional cook, and businessman. After a 16 year battle, he managed to beat cancer, only to suffer with Parkinson's. Predeceased by his parents Henry and Maggie Marchessault, brothers: Laurie, Stan, Les, Murray, and his twin sister Jan, he will be deeply missed by his wife of 49 years Donna Marchessault, his son Brent Marchessault (Diann), his daughters Laura Marchessault and Vanese Marchessault Ferguson (John), his sisters Vivian (Edwin Meyer) and Shirley Marchessault, his grand and great-grandchildren: Carmine, Dustin, Tamara, Dean, Jill, Izzy, Alex and little Tamara; as well as many dearly cherished nieces and nephews. A husband, dad, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend, it was all about family and we knew we were loved, as he is, and will always be. Following a private service, there will be a Come & Go Tea at the Eagles Club, 561 Home St. W., on Tuesday May 10, 2011, beginning at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations would be gratefully accepted to the Sask. Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, or the Parkinson Society Canada. In living memory of Jim, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

Mary A. Duke

Mary was born March 10, 1917 and passed away March 16, 2010 Providence Place. Mary lived in Moose Jaw most of her life. She took her training to become a nurse in Moose Jaw and worked at Valley View and the Union Hospital. Mary is predeceased by her parents Mary Rose and Jean LaRocque and her husband, Fred Duke. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Bonnie (Blair) Knudsen, grandchildren Brian (Lisa) and Beckie and great-grandchildren Jacob and Joel. A private family graveside service will be held. For those so wishing memorial donations may be made to Providence Place, 100 2nd Avenue NE, S6H 1B8. In living memory of Mary, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

THOMAS "TOM" USHER

Thomas “Tom” Usher, age 75, of Moose Jaw, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2011. Predeceased by his parents, Ella Benson, four sisters and one brother, Tom is survived by his five children, sixteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother. In keeping with Tom’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2, would be appreciated. In living memory of Tom, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
