MONTY WAYNE GARDNER

Monty Wayne Gardner of Tugaske Saskatchewan, born October 23, 1950 in Central Butte, Saskatchewan, Monty passed away with family at his side June 20, 2011 at Moose Jaw Union Hospital from complications of Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT), Hepatitis C, and liver cancer. He is survived by his wife Lynn Wellings; mother Marjorie Bruce; son Todd Gardner; daughter Tisha (Troy) Clark; daughter-in-law Brandie Gardner; grandchildren Madison & Brayden Gardner and Kyra & Samantha Clark; mother-in-law Joyce Wellings; a wide extended family in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia; and his very special “family” (nurses) of the Ambulatory Care Clinic who provided iron transfusions on a weekly basis for many years He is predeceased by his father Charlie Bruce and brother Gary Gardner. Trucking and farming and grandchildren were Monty's passions. Monty trucked in 49 states and most of Canada, and was fortunate to travel extensively with Lynn and family during the last four years. The family wishes to thank his friends/nurses. A Memorial Service will take place at the Tugaske Community Hall on Friday June 24, 2011 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Rick McCorrister officiating. Private family interment will take place at Tugaske Cemetery. No flowers please. If you wish, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your own choice, or HHT Research c/o HHT Clinic, St. Michael's Hospital, 30 Bond St, Rm 6017, Bond Wing, Toronto, ON, M5B 1W8. Designate HHT Research. In living memory of Monty, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

VELMA JOHNSON

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of VELMA BEATRICE JOHNSON (nee: Lennox) on August 8, 2010 at 78 years of age. Born in Ormiston, SK., September 17, 1931 to Henry and Jacqueline Lennox, third eldest of fifteen children. She grew up in the Ormiston area and received her education at Creemore School. Mom enjoyed both rural and small town living and participated in many community events and activities. She met the love of her life, Earl Johnson, and in 1949 they married and together raised five children, retiring to Moose Jaw in 1986. Mom enjoyed frequent coffee outings with many friends and family at many local establishments as well as her community of friends at Victoria Towers. Predeceased by her parents, Henry and Jacqueline Lennox, sister and brother-in-law Nita and Bill Kozak; brother-in-law, Bill Hutchinson. Velma is survived by her five children: Elaine (Don) Carlyle, Campbell River, BC; Donna (Dale) Durrant, Moose Jaw, SK; Ken (Maureen) Johnson, Kamloops, BC; Debbie (Scott) Hanna, Moose Jaw, SK, and Kim (Darin) Strudwick, Balgonie, SK.; ten grandchildren: Cameron Carlyle, Melanie Carlyle, Scott (Danica) Durrant, Lindsay Durrant, Caitlin Johnson, Mallory Johnson, Darren Hanna, Chris Hanna, Aidan Strudwick, Trystan Strudwick; great-grandchildren Kayden Barber, Ethan Durrant; sisters, Phoebe Hutchinson, Coaldale, AB; Eva (Lew) Hender, Edmonton, AB; Patricia Lennox, Moose Jaw, SK; Verna Lennox, Abbotsford, BC; Fran (Ron) Bender, Moose Jaw, SK; Cheryl (Gerry) Nestman, Briercrest, SK; Arlene (Don) Laboucaine, Moose Jaw, SK; brothers: Louis (Dot) Lennox, Moose Jaw, SK; Tom (Linda) Lennox, Smeaton, SK; Gene (Pat) Lennox, Lethbridge, AB; Delbert (Grace) Lennox, Moose Jaw, SK; Reg (Maurice) Lennox, Westbank, BC; Ernie (Cheryl) Lennox, Watrous, SK; as well as a gazillion nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 13, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend John Carley will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday evening, 7:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Saskatchewan Heart & Stroke Foundation, 279 – 3rd Ave N., Saskatoon, SK, S7K 2H8. In living memory of Velma, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

MARY MARGARET "LUCIELLE" LEWIS

On May 9, 2011 Lucielle Lewis passed away at Providence Place at the age of 88 years. Lucielle was predeceased by her parents Lillian and Isaac Labrie, two sons, four sisters and one brother. She leaves to cherish her memory; one daughter Brenda, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, sisters Irene and Madeline, and numerous nieces and nephews. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. In living memory of Lucielle, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

LUCY FROST

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of LUCY FROST, March 13, 2009 at Extendicare in Moose Jaw, with her family by her side. Born September 13, 1911 in Floodwood, Minnesota, Lucy came to Saskatchewan at the age of two years with her family. She married Percy in 1929 and the couple farmed in the Mitchellton area. Predeceased by her husband in 1975, son-in-law, George Hack - 1967, grandson, Ronnie Frost -1978, great-grandson, Matthew Hack – 1987 and son-in-law, Michael Thompson – 2005, Lucy is survived by son, Donald (Elaine) Frost; daughters, Pauline Hack and Gloria Thompson; grandchildren: Shelley (Paul) Stenning – Cochrane, Alta, Terry Hack – Penticton, B.C., Sherry (Joe) Cherewyk – Good Spirit Acres, Sask., Laurie Fraser – Saskatoon, Debbie (Lee) Lane – Balgonie, Duane (Lindsay Weger) Thompson – Balgonie; thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandsons. To respect Lucy’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private family service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff of Ina Grafton Gage Home and Extendicare Nursing Centre for the care given to Mom. In lieu of flowers, those so wishing may make a donation to a charity of their choice. In living memory of Lucy, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

GORD BOYLE

Gordon Ellsworth Boyle age 80 years of Moose Jaw, passed away October 27, 2010. Gord was born and raised on a farm in the Petrolia District. He was a hard working loving partner, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an Instructor, at SIAST teaching finishing carpentry. He later went to university and obtained his teaching degree. In 1972 he obtained his pilot license. He was always encouraging and supportive and would share his knowledge whenever asked. He wanted nothing but the best for everyone including himself as he was a perfectionist in everything he did. Gord enjoyed his retirement and was an avid Moose Jaw Warrior Fan going on the road trips on the fan bus. Gord loved animals, especially his dog Dickens. Gord also played with some of the last of the “Big Dance Bands” at Temple Gardens. He was very active until he became ill. There is no man on earth more loved and respected by his family and close friends. We offer our personal thanks to all those special Doctors and nurses who cared for Gord. He is predeceased by his parents Fred and Daisy Boyle. He will be sadly missed by his partner and best friend, Marion; his daughters, Karen (Gerry) Bowler, and Vicki Gosslin - all of Winnipeg, MB; five grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter; brothers, Murray (Mona) Boyle, Bev (Yvonne) Boyle all of Moose Jaw; sister, Marjorie (Ken) Hart of Regina, and his extended family: Cathy (Bob) Trumblay of Regina, Pat (Brian) Smyth of Regina, Pam (Clark) Gillies of Long Island, New York, Greg (Mardi) Goettler of Moose Jaw, seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Also numerous nieces and nephews. In keeping with Gord’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Following a family Graveside Committal, conducted by Reverend John Carley, a Come & Go Tea in Gordon’s memory will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church Social Hall (lower level) on Saturday November 6, 2010 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. For those so wishing memorials may be directed to the Sask. Heart & Stroke Foundation, or to the Sask. Lung Association. In living memory of Gordon, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

AGNES DAY
October 31, 1915 - August 24, 2009

Agnes Day passed away peacefully on August 24, 2009. Beloved wife of the late Hank, who passed away in 1993. Deeply loved and admired by sons Barrie (Marg), Stony Plain; Murray ( Sharon ), Maple Ridge; and Rob (Tara), Regina. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Jim (Cheryl), Curtis, Tyler (Lisa), Steven (Kelly), Brent, Allison, Travis and her great grandchildren, Haley, Madison and Livia. Two treasured nephews, Reg Pike (Barb) and Rick Pike (Dee) are also mourning her passing. She was predeceased by her niece, Lorraine in 2008. Agnes was born on a farm near Swift Current, Saskatchewan shortly before the death of her father who was killed in the Great War. She and her late sister, Lillian spent their early years assisting their mother and a favourite uncle, the late Bert Harris, in their effort to eke out a living on the farm. These early years provided her with a solid foundation that provided the building blocks for a vibrant and full life. For many years much of her time was spent as a spectator and supporter of the many sporting activities of Hank and her children. As a senior she took up the sport of lawn bowling where she was successful at provincial and national levels. Throughout her life she kept in contact with a her father’s family in England through special cousins, Ann Spires and Bob Harris (Lyn). This led to the reunification of a family divided by distance and two world wars. The Harris clan remains an integral part of the family. In memory of her passing the family will host celebration of her life at W. J. Jones and Son Family Centre, 262 Athabasca Street E. in Moose Jaw from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on September 18, 2009. The family would like to extend sincere thanks and appreciation to the management and staff at Oxford Place Care Home and end-of-life care at Extendicare in Moose Jaw. In living memory of Agnes, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W.J Jones & Son Funeral Home.

JOHN DOUGLAS CHADWICK

John Douglas Chadwick passed away peacefully in his sleep in an Edmonton hospital on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at the age of 95 years. Doug was born in Moose Jaw on February 10, 1915. He worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway as a carman (carpenter) from 1935 – 1976. He was a member of the Brotherhood Railway Carmen of Canada. He lived in Moose Jaw until December 2008 when he moved to Sherwood Park, Alberta to live with his daughter and family. Doug was involved in church activities at St. Barnabas and St. Michael’s and later at St. Aidan’s, Moose Jaw as well as St. Thomas Anglican Church in Sherwood Park. Throughout his life he was physically active: dancing, ice skating, cross-country skiing, biking, bowling and was still going for walks at age 95. Family was very important to Doug and he enjoyed time spent with family and friends, and especially his visits to Emma Lake, Saskatchewan. Predeceased by his wife Mary (1995), parents, brother Edmund and two sisters, Blanche and May. He is survived by son Bruce (Rojeanne) - North Battleford; daughter Mary Lee (Dan) DiMarco - Sherwood Park, AB; three grandchildren: Janelle (Glen) Dembicki - Lloydminster, SK; Sherri Chadwick - Prince Albert, SK, Darren DiMarco, Edmonton, AB; three great-granddaughters: Kacey, Bailey and Paige Dembicki; and many nieces and nephews. Cremation with family graveside service in Moose Jaw at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice, would be appreciated. In living memory of Doug, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
