Clara passed away at Pioneer Lodge after a hard fought struggle with cancer. Clara was born at Herbert, Sask and at an early age moved with her parents to Neidpath, Sask. In 1940 she moved to Swift Current, graduated from Swift Current Collegiate Institute, following which she was employed as a bookkeeper. Clara married Tom Harris in June 1951. In 1959 Tom and Clara moved to Moose Jaw where they owned and operated Harris Refrigeration Service until March 1983. She was then employed part-time at Moose Jaw Police Services. Clara was a past member of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society Auxiliary, Moose Jaw Two Way Radio Club and the Moose Jaw Camping Club. Clara was predeceased by her parents Peter and Elsa Andreas, her brother Raymond Andreas and her husband Tom in 1998. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and John Stirton - Moose Jaw, sister-in-law, Edith (Elmer) Haskin - Roseville, CA, as well as cousins, and several nieces and nephews. In respecting Mom's wishes, there will be no funeral service. Cremation will take place and she will be laid to rest next to Dad. A Tea will be held in her memory at W. J. Jones & Son Family Centre, 262 Athabasca St. E., on Friday September 3, 2010 from 1:30 – 3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658, Moose Jaw, S6H 7K7, or to the Shriner's Patient Travel Fund, 1767 Main St. N., Moose Jaw, S6J 1L6. Blanche P. Hoggarth
September 13, 1930 – February 21, 2011
Blanche left this world to join her parents William and Johnina Hoggarth, sister Jean Edwards, brothers Oliver and Myles and nephews Myles, Dalton and Larry. She is survived by sister Tunie Topinka, sister-in-laws Vangie Hoggarth and Selina Hoggarth, numerous nephews and nieces, cousins and special friends. Blanche was born in Whitewood and attended Hallsdale and Whitewood schools. She went to Reliance Business College in Regina in 1948. After that she worked for Bank of Montreal for 2 years and then onto to MacLeods stores in Virden, Regina and Moose Jaw for 35 years. Retiring from there she worked in a ladies wear store in Moose Jaw for a few years before enjoying her full time retirement. Funeral Services will be held at the Whitewood United Church on Friday February 25, 2011 at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at the Whitewood Cemetery. A Memorial Tea will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Family Centre, 262 Athabasca Street East, Moose Jaw, on Monday February 28, 2011 1:00 – 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, #204 - 3775 Pasqua Street, Regina, Sask.S4S 6W8. In living memory of Blanche, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. RUBY COLWELL
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother RUBY EDITH COLWELL on January 11, 2009 at the age of 91. Ruby was born December 26, 1917 and raised south of Tugaske on the family farm. She married Maurice Colwell March 26, 1938 and they farmed west of Tugaske in the Bridgeford area for over 50 years retiring to Tugaske. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Texas every winter as a Snowbird where they loved dancing and visiting with friends they had met. Ruby was predeceased by her husband of 60 years in 1998, her parents John and Edith McPhee; three sisters: Pearl, May and Olive. She is survived by children: Frank (Sophie), Kay (Doug) Black, Derek (Annabelle), Patricia, Ron (Linda), Randy (Roselyn), Mitchell (Genie); thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Howard (Lois) and numerous other relatives. Following cremation a burial and memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Tugaske Cemetery Fund, Box 40, Tugaske, Sask, S0H 4B0. OLGA DUECK
Olga Mazur Dueck left her earthly body to be with Jesus on December 13, 2010. She was predeceased by her first husband Mike Mazur in 1989 and later her second husband David Dueck in 2003, her daughter Evelyn Sundin in 1995 and great-grandson Michael John MacLachlan in 2001. Olga is survived by her daughters Shirley (Don) MacLachlan, Janette Benson, Marilyn (Herb) Daly, 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She will be missed by family and friends. Mom’s greatest gift was giving to missions. Her passion was her Bible and the Prophecy warnings that it held for things that would happen on the earth. She was a woman of prayer especially for her family to come to know the truth of Jesus. Mom’s hope was Heaven- Eternity – a better place. This was the faith she passed on to her daughters. The family would like to thank the staff of Ina Grafton Gage Home for the excellent care Olga received while living there. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Hillcrest Apostolic Church at 2:00pm. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Pastors Dan Godard and Larry Gerow will officiate. JESSIE PAYNE
Jessie Payne of Central Butte, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2010. Born November 3, 1925 in Ireland, Jessie came to Canada in June 1926 with her family to the Lawson area. She attended Brampton School. Jessie married Cecil Mulholland in 1947 and together they farmed at Calderbank. She moved to Central Butte in 1957 before Cecil’s passing. Jessie married Wilf Payne in 1962. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies and the Willing Workers Ladies group. Jessie loved to play bingo. She enjoyed gardening and always had the best garden around with lots of flowers outside and inside the house. Jessie is predeceased by her parents, and husbands Cecil Mulholland and Wilf Payne, sisters Jane Morden and Bobby Mulholland, brothers-in-law Willie Morden and Wes Mulholland, as well as many other brothers and sisters-in-law from the Payne family. She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Ken Mulholland, daughter Ellen (Jim) Laybourne; granddaughters Nicole and Kathleen (Doug) Gessner; and great-granddaughter Shawna; sister Annie Currie, nieces, nephews, and many relatives from the Payne family. In keeping with Jessie’s wish, a private graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorials to the Central Butte Fire Dept., or to Regency Manor c/o Central Butte & District Health Care Foundation, Box 582, Central Butte, SK S0H 0T0, would be appreciated. Helen Lena Aasen
1919 - 2011
Helen Lena Aasen of Moose Jaw, passed away August 5, 2011. She is predeceased by her husband Alfred Bernard Aasen in 1992, her mother Mary Cojacar in 1980, and her father John Cojacar in 1982. Helen is survived by her son Randall (Dianne) Aasen; daughters, Elaine (Ken) Deans, and Rosemarie Waite; and son Raymond (Janet) Bobrowski; sister-in-law Esther Petrescu; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In keeping with Helen’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private Graveside Service will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. For those so wishing, memorial donations to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 455 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 1H3, would be appreciated. RAE COBBE
August 17, 1927 – March 6, 2009
Rae Cobbe passed away in Moose Jaw on March 6, 2009. Rae was born to William and Mae Cobbe on the farm in the Limerick area, the second youngest of 4 children. Rae married Rose Sinclair in the spring of 1948. They farmed and ranched in the Limerick area until 1961 when the family moved to Swift Current where he looked after the test animals on the PFRA Pasture at Webb, SK. In the winter he looked after the animals at the Experimental Farm in Swift Current. He loved horses and cattle, and enjoyed curling and baseball. He was manager of the Grainland Community Pasture at Central Butte from 1967 to 1992 when he retired. Rae spent his winters touring the province buying bulls for the Provincial Pastures and watching figure skating in between. Predeceased by his first wife Rose and brother George Cobbe, Rae is survived by his wife, Doreen; brother Ken (Marg) Cobbe, and sister Hazel Ruzicka; son Robert (Corinne) Cobbe and daughter Rosemarie (Gary Potratz); grandchildren: Charlene (Ryan) Adamus and Dakota Rae Ortman; and great-grandchild Taylor Ryan Adamus. In 1992 Rae married Dean Tait and acquired an extended family: Jan (Lloyd) Turner, Marty (Joyce) Macdiarmid; grandchildren Jolyn (Craig) Knox, Houston (Sara) Forman, Chelsea (Jamie) Blaczczok; Tyler, Nathan, Jade and Dustin; and great-grandchildren: Phoenix and Makenna Blaczczok, Julia Forman. The Memorial Service will be held at the Mortlach Community Hall on Thursday March 12, 2009 at 2:00 pm. Ron Silvester will officiate. Memorialization will take place at a later date.
