DON MARSHALL

Donald “Don” William Marshall of the Davidson area, formerly of the Big Beaver District passed away peacefully with family by his side on November 1, 2009 at the age of 54. Don is predeceased by his parents, James and Gabrielle, step-son Elwood, granddaughters Payton and Tristan. In 1976 he married his first wife, (step-daughter Denise) and had three children, Jody, Melinda, and Heather. He later divorced, and in 1986 he met his common-law partner of 23 years, Linda (step-children Stephenie and Elwood). Don farmed for most of his occupational life, but also did numerous mechanical and construction jobs. He was a devoted partner, brother, father, and grandfather. Don will be sadly missed by his spouse Linda, daughters Stephenie (Adam), Denise, Jody (Bruce), Melinda (Tyson), Heather (Dustin) and fifteen grandchildren; siblings Laverne (Ang), Jeanette (Eldon), Julie (Randall), Lorne, Marlin, Marlowe (Cindy) and Karen as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Friday November 6th, 2009 at 10:30am, with Rev. David Moore officiating. For those so wishing memorial donations in Don’s name can be made to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, 204-3775 Pasqua St, Regina, SK S4S 9Z9. Memorialization will take place at Marshall Family Cemetery at Big Beaver, Saskatchewan. In living memory of Don, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

ERNEST BRONSCH

Ernest Bronsch passed away Friday January 18, 2008. Ernie was born at Radisson, SK on February 15, 1911. He is predeceased by his parents, his wife Esther, and a grandson Bradley Earl in 1966. Ernie is the last of his immediate family and is survived by his family: daughters, Bonnie Lee (Robert) Boudreau – Bonnyville, AB, and Debra Dee (Dennis) Brigham – Regina; grandchildren: Chris Brigham, Michelle Brigham (Norm McArthur) and Candace (Ryan) Kingston; many nieces, nephews, friends, and his companion Betty at the Bentley. The family would like to thank the staff of First Floor Medical at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital. Following cremation, Family Memorialization will take place at a later date. In living memory of Ernie, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

JOHN "JACK" GRAYSON

Mr. John Timothy “Jack” Grayson, age 90, passed away at his residence in Regina on December 21, 2010. He is predeceased by his parents, James and Catherine; his first wife Lorraine: his brother Bill and his sister Estella Gunn. Jack is survived by his wife Bernice, daughter Jackie (Bill) Trout; sister Louisa Hockley; brother Lloyd; step-sons Layne (Pat) Larsen and Manley Larsen (Evelyn Taylor); step-daughter and part-time care giver Maida Gardner; as well as nieces and nephews and Bernice’s seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A Memorial Tea will be held on Tuesday December 28, 2010 beginning at noon at W. J. Jones & Son Family Centre, 262 Athabasca St. E. For those so wishing memorial donations may be directed to a Charity of Choice. In living memory of Jack, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W.J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

ROSEMARY HAVERTY

It is with great sadness, the family of ROSEMARY HAVERTY announces her sudden death on March 1, 2003. Rose was born in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, England on March 13, 1923. She served with the Army Transport Service in England, meeting her future husband, John B. Haverty. She was a war bride who left her home to be with her husband “Jack” in 1946, living in Moose Jaw since that time. Mom had a wonderful heart who deeply cared for her family and fellow man. She especially enjoyed children, and would spoil her grandchildren whenever possible. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack in September 1969, and close friend, Henry, in 2002. She was also predeceased by her parents and special cousin George in England. Rosemary leaves to mourn, her daughter Rosemarie and grandchildren Rosanne (Terry), Patrick (Bonnie), Christopher, and Cathy (Andrew); daughter Jacqueline and grandchildren Terri (Duncan) and Carol (Luke); fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters Peggy (Colin), Joan (Tom), a brother Jim (Pearl) and their families in England. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Captain Norm Hamelin will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to The Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658, Moose Jaw, S6H 7K7. In living memory of Rosemary, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

LOUISE FAYE HANNAH

It is with great sadness we the family of Louise Faye Hannah announce her peaceful passing on August 12, 2010 at the age of sixty years and is now with the angels. Louise was born on October 6, 1949 in Vanguard, Saskatchewan and grew up in the Aneroid district. Being a natural caregiver, Louise began her working career as a nurse, care aide at the Vanguard Union Hospital. She married George Hornung in 1967 and they began their lives together on the horning family homestead in the Vanguard district where they were blessed with four children. Louise enjoyed being a homemaker and was an active member of the CWL at the St. Joseph’s Church in Vanguard. She also drove school bus in the Glen Bain district for ten years. Louise and George later divorced in 1991. Louise moved to Moose Jaw in 1990 and was remarried to Barry Hannah in 1993. She continued working in the health field as a Nurse Care Aide at valley View Center, then as a Special Care Aide at Extendicare. Through out her time in Moose Jaw, Louise also worked at other various part time positions including Activities Director at Oxford Place. She enjoyed spending time with her brother Robert socializing with friends, especially her ‘Best Bud” Diane. They enjoyed numerous outing and sharing old times. Louise realized a lifelong dream when she and Barry enjoyed a week long vacation in Mexico. Louise and Barry later divorced in 2008. Louise’s greatest love was her family. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren which is evident with the numerous pictures displayed around her home. She never forgot nieces and nephew’s birthdays or anniversaries, sending cards or calling so they knew she was thinking of them. She loved hosting holiday family meals and no one ever went home hungry. Louise also enjoyed gardening, curling and spent many mini holidays camping at LacPelltier and Cypress Hills with her children. Louise was very spiritual and was a devote Roman Catholic who enjoyed singing in the choir. She spent many hours volunteering for the Moose Jaw Union Hospital Auxiliary. In recent years Louise’s health took a turn and she was diagnosed with Picks disease in 2009. At the time of her passing Louise was residing at the Moose Jaw Extendicare Home, where she was cared for by the wonderful staff there. A special mention to Corie, who was especially close to mom, sneaking extra snacks and caring for her as if Louise was her own mother. Louise was predeceased by her parents: Ben and Vera Schroeder, uncle Don and Aunt Marianna Schroeder. Louise leaves behind her four children: Garth and his children; Arissa, Kayla and Joey; Lana (Sophie), Debbie (Leroy) and children: Adam, Coltin and Lane; Crystal (Chris) and daughter Caitlyn. Brother: Robert (Jennifer); sisters: Rei and Tia (George), numerous nieces, nephews and many cherished friends. The Memorial Service for Louise will be held on Tuesday August 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from the W. J. Jones and Son Chapel. Rev. John Duerksen will officiate. Memorialization will follow at the Aneroid cemetery at a later date. Following the service family and friends will gather at the Jones Family Center 262 Athabasca St E. for a time of fellowship .Memorials in memory of Louise may be forwarded to the Alzheimer Association.

ANITA MATHIEU

Anita (Granger) Mathieu passed away in Moose Jaw Union Hospital on July 13, 2009. Anita was predeceased by her parents, Irenee and Corinne (Bonneau) Granger, her brother Roger Granger, her son Laurent Mathieu and her grandson Trenton Bettcher. She leaves to mourn her husband of 67 years, Charles Mathieu; her daughter Gisele (Mathieu) Bettcher (Merl) and her son Louis Mathieu (Pauline), her daughter-in-law Suzanne Mathieu; her grandchildren Michelle (Bettcher), Lozej (Michael), Raymond Mathieu (Jessi), Joshua Mathieu (Callie); Danielle and Rachelle Mathieu; and her great-grandchildren Kolton, Brooklyn and Jayden Lozej, Thomas Bettcher, Ciarra and Skylar Mathieu, and Zahara Mathieu. She also leaves to mourn nine siblings Bibiane Henley, Roch Granger (Mabel), Renee Bourdages, Gabrielle Granger, Andre Granger (Margaret), Gilles Granger (Patricia), Rolland Granger (Anita), Guy Granger (Elaine), Bernadette Prouty (Bob) and many nieces and nephews. Anita was born in Willow Bunch on November 16, 1919 and was married to Charles Mathieu in October 1942. Anita’s greatest pleasure was to make something then share it with her family. We all have hand-knit sweaters, scarves, mitts and slippers, hand-made quilts, hand-embroidered pillow cases and table cloths, braided rugs and many crafts that we have cherished for years. Now, we pass these on to the next generation along with stories of warm family gatherings, “le Reveillon” Christmas, Birthdays and Easter feasts. We thank God for having had the opportunity to know her and love her for so many years. Fond memories will remain in our hearts forever. Prayers were held on July 14, 2009 at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel in Moose Jaw. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Ignace Roman Catholic Church in Willow Bunch at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday August 5, 2009. The Mass will be followed by interment at the Willow Bunch Cemetery. Memorial tributes on Anita’s behalf may be sent to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 455 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 1H3. In living memory of Anita, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

ANNE BASARSKY

Anne Basarsky of Moose Jaw, formerly of the Yorkton area, passed away on April 17, 2009. Anne was born 98 years ago on a farm in the Yorkton area. By the age of 17 she was taking “normal school” in Moose Jaw, and for the next many years taught school in the one room schools of communities around Yorkton. She enjoyed the company of her many brothers and sisters, farm life, reading, card games, camping and fishing. She is predeceased by Sergie, her husband of 68 years, and six brothers and sisters. She will be sadly missed by her son Peter, grandson Bill, one sister and one brother, and her good friends still living in the Yorkton area. A private service will be held, with burial beside her husband Sergie at Rosedale Cemetery. Memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2, would be appreciated. In living memory of Anne, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
