ELSIE ISABELLE WRIGHT (nee Cooper) of Extendicare, Moose Jaw passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 with her family at her side. Elsie was born in Killarney, Manitoba June 21, 1907 to Ernest and Hannah Cooper. When Elsie was five years old, the family moved to a homestead in the Buffalo Horn district of Southwest Saskatchewan. Elsie was educated at Buffalo Horn, Moose Jaw Central Collegiate and Normal School. Upon completing her education Elsie taught school in rural Southwestern Saskatchewan for approximately four years. Elsie married Robert J. Wright and became mother to his daughter, Shirley (Fiesel) and later her sons: Robert, Thomas and Kenneth. After raising her family, Elsie returned to the work force obtaining employment at Valley View Centre where she worked until her retirement. Elsie was very active and enjoyed playing cards, Bingo and casino trips with her friends. Elsie was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Hannah, her estranged husband, Robert, brother Arthur, son, Robert and son-in-law, Lawrence Fiesel. Elsie will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Beatrice Myles of Langley, B.C., her step-daughter, Shirley Fiesel of Briercrest, SK., daughter-in-law, Rosemarie (Robert) Wright of Queens, New York; sons: Tom (Sharon), Ken (Gloria) of Moose Jaw as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and her good friends. At Elsie’s request there will be no funeral. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Saskatchewan Heart & Stroke Foundation, 2360 – 2nd Ave., Regina, S4R 1A6. In living memory of Elsie, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
MARGARET McKEE
Margaret E. McKee, of Moose Jaw, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2009. Margaret was born on December 31, 1925 at Zelma, SK. She married Harold McKee in 1949, and in 1973 they moved to Moose Jaw. Margaret enjoyed the beauty of nature, and was especially fond of Moose Jaw’s parks. She had a kind heart and a gentle smile. Predeceased by her husband Harold in 1977; her parents, two brothers and one sister, she is survived by her children: Linda (Ray) Meloche – Chilliwack, BC, and Alex (Connie) McKee – Grouard, AB; four grandchildren, one great-grandson; brother Jim; and sisters, Betty, Evelyn, Moira, Jean, and Roberta. A Memorial Tea will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Family Centre on Monday March 2, 2009 from 1:30 – 3:00 pm. A family tribute to honour Margaret will be held at 2:00 pm. Memorials to a charity of choice would be appreciated. In living memory of Margaret, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
GERALDINE NASH
Geraldine Ellen Nash (nee Dowse) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 5, 2008. Gerrie is predeceased by her parents John and Vira Dowse; and one brother Barrie Dowse. Gerrie will be sadly missed by her husband of almost 52 years, Fred; daughter Beth (Richard) Pickering; son David; grandsons Jonathan and Christopher Pickering; sister Marlene (Niel); sister in law Fern; as well as many nieces and nephews. At Gerrie’s request there will be no services; a private family interment will take place at a later date. For those so wishing donation in Gerrie’s memory can be made to charity of one’s choice. VERA McDOUGALL
Vera McDougall of Moose Jaw, formerly of Findlater, SK, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2009. She was born on November 19, 1921 in Workington, Cumbria, England and arrived in Canada in 1947. She was predeceased by her husband Allan, her parents, four brothers, her sister, and three sisters-in-law in England, Scotland, and Saskatoon. Vera is survived by two sisters-in-law in England, as well as nieces and nephews in both Saskatoon and England. A Memorial Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Monday March 23, 2009 at 2:00 pm. Reverend Allen Doerksen will officiate. At Vera’s request, cremation will take place with interment at the Findlater Cemetery at a later date. Memorials to the Sask. Heart & Stroke Foundation, 279 3rd Ave.N., Saskatoon, S7K 2H8, or to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 455 Fairford St. E., S6H 1H3, would be appreciated. Craig LaPensée
Craig Abraham Jeffery LaPensée passed away March 16, 2009. Craig was born April 17, 1986 in Calgary, AB. He was the most amazing, beautiful, coolest and the most perfect son, and he will be sadly missed by his Mom Gayle McNicol-Deturt, and his Dad Steven LaPensée (Danica). He will be missed and always in the heart of his best-friend, soul mate, and sister Jessica. He is deeply loved and admired by best-friend and brother-in-law Trevor Watson. Craig will be missed by half-brothers Zach and Nich in Newfoundland, loving great-grandma Mrs. Flora Phillips, and many others including grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles, cousins, as well as special aunts and uncles. Craig’s passions included cooking, especially baking and creating. He had a fantastic sense of humour and he loved to learn. Craig also loved sketching – girls, painting – girls, writing – girls, music – girls, skating boarding – girls, and of course girls. He was loved and he loved countless friends, and was the “little brother” to many. “We’ve been truly blessed to have you in our lives and you will always be in our hearts.” Please come celebrate and share Craig’s life with us at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Friday March 20, 2009 at 2:00 pm. Della Ferguson will be the celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, would be appreciated. COLIN ROBERTS
Colin William Roberts, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on January 10, 2009 in Moose Jaw at the age of 73. Colin was born in Moose Jaw and grew up on the family farm in the Tuxford area. After his father's death, he took over the operation of the farm where he worked tirelessly and innovatively. Responsible stewardship of the land was very important to him. Colin also owned and managed Air Waves Radio and TV in Moose Jaw for over two decades. Throughout his life he was active in the community and his church. He belonged to Doric Lodge, was a member of the Kinsmen Club and was actively involved on the Band Festival Committee for many years. Skiing and golfing were favourite pastimes. He especially treasured time spent with his young grandchildren. Family and friends will remember Colin's sense of humour, which he retained even throughout his struggle with lung disease. Colin was predeceased by his parents, William and Flora, and sister Joan. He is survived by his wife Gwen, daughter Rhea (John Shaw) and grandchildren, Liam and Georgia of Lethbridge, and sister-in-law Faye Ferguson of Toronto. The Service of Remembrance will be held at St. Aidan’s Anglican Church, 124 First Ave. NE., on Thursday January 15, 2009 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Betty Bradley and Reverend Allen Doerksen will officiate. Memorialization will take place at Rosedale Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to do so may make a donation to the Saskatchewan Lung Association, 1231–8th Street East, Saskatoon, SK S7H OS5. EMMIE HEALEY
Miss Emmie Healey of Regency Manor, Central Butte passed away on Monday May 9, 2005at the age of ninety-nine years. Emmie was born on April 2, 1906 in Lancaster, England. Predeceased by her parents, sister Nora and brother Jack. She will be remembered by one nephew, Vern (Carol) Healey – BC; and many family friends and acquaintances through out the years. The Funeral Service will be held at the Tugaske Community Hall on Monday May 16, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Dwayne Tanner will officiate and interment will follow in the Tugaske Cemetery.
