IVY MIRIAM ANNA CANT (1906 – 2005). Ivy was a life-long member of St. John’s Anglican Church and a member of the Quill Club, Duets and Eastern Star. Predeceased by her husband, Ted in 1975, Ivy is survived by her daughter, Enid (Terry) and grandsons: Paul (Brooke, Brady, Quinn) and Kirby (Karen, Vienna ). A Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 6, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Aidan Anglican Church. Reverend Betty Bradley will officiate. Memorialization will take place at Rosedale Cemetery . LOIS MISNER
Mrs. Lois Misner of Moose Jaw passed away on Thursday January 6, 2005 at the age of 85 years. Lois was a life member of the Royal Purple and the Army, Navy and Airforce Veterans. She is predeceased by her parents, Reuben and Matilda Jory. Lois is lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years, Bernie; and many cousins and other relatives. In keeping with Lois’ wishes there will be no funeral service. Bernie wishes to acknowledge the wonderful care given to Lois by the staff of the Moose Jaw Union Hospital, Pioneers Lodge, and the Funeral Home. SHARON ZALUSKI
Sharon Marilyn Zaluski passed away peacefully on August 13, 2003 after a 3-year battle with breast cancer. Sharon was born on January 11, 1947 to Albert and Evelyn Kacsmar (Knourek) of Esterhazy, SK, where she resided until moving to Regina to attend University. She began her teaching career in 1967 and was employed as a resource room teacher with the Moose Jaw Roman Catholic School Board from 1972 until her superannuation in 1999. Sharon was very proud to be one of the first resource room teachers in Saskatchewan. She loved working directly with her students, and was honored by the Council for Exceptional Children for her achievements in 1996. Her dedication to teaching was surpassed only by her devotion and undying love to family and faith. A woman of care and compassion, she made countless efforts to ensure the well-being of family, friends, and students, holding pride in all of their achievements. Sharon enjoyed baking, traveling, community involvement, choral singing, gardening and had a particular affinity for the spring season. Sharon is predeceased by her parents, Albert and Evelyn Kacsmar. She is survived by Walter, her husband of 31 years, children: Wade (Amy), Neal, and Deanne; and brothers: Gary and Darrell (Charlene) Kacsmar of Esterhazy. An Evening Prayer Service will be held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 Third Ave. N.W. Moose Jaw on Friday August 15, at 7:00 pm . A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the Church on Saturday August 16, 2003 at 10:00 am. Rev. Father Gerry Bauche will be the celebrant. A Memorial Service will be held at the Our Lady of Victories Roman Catholic Church, Esterhazy on Monday August 18, 2003 at 11:00am, with memorialization to take place at the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Esterhazy. Memorials to the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic, 4101 Dewdney Ave. Regina, S4T 1A5, or the Canadian Cancer Society, 223 Fairford ST.E., Moose Jaw, S6H 0E1, would be appreciated. JEAN SCOTT
Jean Eleanor Scott, age 87, passed away on May 16, 2009 at Providence Place, her home for the last 12 years. Jean will be dearly missed by her sons: Ken (Martha) - Saskatoon and Jim (Shirley) - Calgary, and her daughters: Betty Shurnaik (Wes), Sandra Cleniuk (John Denney), and Shirley Dombowsky (Joe) all of Moose Jaw . Jean was also blessed with 13 grandchildren: Kelly, Terry (Darla); Sonya; Karri (Silas), Tara-Lynn (Noel); Candice (Frank), Elan, Alexandra (Zach); Amanda (Mike), Adam (Laura), Sarah (JR), Daniel and Mary; as well as 13 great grandchildren with her 14th great-grandchild expected in June. She is also survived by her brother Bob of B.C., along with numerous nieces and nephews. Jean is predeceased by her husband, Norman, parents Nelson and Florence, brothers Lloyd, Raymond, and Harold, and sisters Etta and Margaret. Jean was born on August 18, 1921 in Fort Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan. Jean married Norman Arthur Scott on July 24, 1941. After Norman returned home from serving overseas during World War II, they stayed in the Qu'Appelle Valley before making Moose Jaw their home in 1956. Although Jean struggled most of her adult life with narcolepsy and cataplexy she lived everyday to the fullest. The family would like to thank all of the wonderful staff of Providence Place for taking such good care of Mom. A Celebration of Jean’s life will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Saturday May 23, 2009 at 1:30 pm. Family memorialization will take place at a later date. Memorials to Providence Place, 100 2nd Ave. N.E., S6H 1B1, would be appreciated. DOROTHY NEILL
DOROTHY WOTTA (NEILL), born October 3, 1917 at the family farm at Redvers, Saskatchewan, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2005 at Pioneers Lodge, Moose Jaw. After her nursing career in the Air Force, Dorothy nursed in Montreal at the Neurological Centre for a few years before moving back to Regina then Moose Jaw. Dorothy’s life was limited due to her back injury and the loss of her eye sight in 1987 but she was a very determined person and she lived her life to the fullest. She loved taking walks, listening to the birds sing, visiting with friends, listening to her radio and knitting blankets and scarves for anyone that she knew. She was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, two brothers: John and George, sister-in-law, Lydia and sister, Reghina. She is survived by her sister, Mary (Harvey) Bowcott of Vernon, B.C., nieces, Kathy of Stettler, Alberta, Linda of Edmonton, Adele of Regina, Corrine (Charles) Zsoka of Regina; nephews: Eugene (Lorraine) of Redvers and John of Redvers as well as all extended family members and very close friends, especially the staff of Pioneer Lodge who were her family in later years. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw. Reverend Molly Kitchen will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Royal Canadian Legion Funeral Rites will be conducted by Stan Skrill. In memory of Dorothy, memorials may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund. DANA SPICER BERTRAND
1960 - 2003
Peacefully on June 17, with family by her side after suffering a heart attack while vacationing in New York City. Dana lived life to the fullest and was thriving in her new position as a Professor in the Business Faculty at Malaspina University-College in Nanaimo. Born in Moose Jaw, Dana obtained Bachelor degrees in Arts and Administration from the University of Regina, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Colorado. Teaching positions followed at SIAST and the University of Regina in Saskatchewan, and Algonquin College in Ottawa. Alongside her professional life, she was the perfect co-pilot to her husband’s Air Force and later airline careers, and a wonderful mother to her two sweet daughters. Honest, intelligent, confident and caring. Dana loved reading, loved her cats, her dinner parties, live performances, and good conversation. Dana will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Brian, daughters Adan and Kieran, her parents Lloyd and Darla Spicer, sisters Leanne (Dirkson) and Marla (Chow) and families, aunt Audrey Spicer, cousins Steven, Lawrence and Lisa, uncle Warren Smith and the extended Spicer, Smith and Bertrand families. Dana was predeceased by her sister, Daris in 1963 and uncle Ron Spicer in 2001. She will also be missed by the many friends colleagues and students she enjoyed through the years in Saskatchewan, Colorado, Ottawa, and Nanaimo. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 28, 2003 at Minto United Church, 1036 Seventh N.W., Moose Jaw, SK., at 12:30 pm. WIB BULL
It is with great sadness that the family of Wib Bull announce his passing on Saturday May 5, 2007 at the age of 93. Wib was born and raised in the Invermay area. He married Irene (Rene) McNulty on October 24, 1938. They lived in Invermay and Quill Lake prior to moving to Moose Jaw in 1957. Wib was a Veteran of the Second World War, serving in the Navy as a stoker. He worked in the grain business starting as an agent, then as a superintendent for both Federal Grain and the Pool. As a superintendent he traveled to many places in Sask. Wib was a member of Trinity United Church since 1957, a member of the Kinsmen, Masons, and the Eastern Star. He was a Legion member for over 40 years and a sportsman, enjoying playing hockey and hunting. He will also be remembered for his great sense of humour. Wib’s memory will be greatly cherished by his daughters, Elaine (Ken) Maxwell; Sheila (Jim) Herrem; grandchildren: Mitch, Richelle and Karen Necker; Jennifer (Brad Sparks), and David (Chrissy) Passmore; great-grandchildren Kyle Necker and Mia Passmore; brother Leith (Lois) Bull; and many nieces and nephews. Wib is predeceased by Rene, his wife of 68 years; his parents, Ambrose and Ethel Bull; sister, Mariette Jones, and brothers, Walt and Cec. A Celebration of Wib’s Life will be held at Minto United Church on Thursday May 10, 2007 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Bill Thomson will officiate. Royal Canadian Legion Funeral Rites will be conducted by Roscoe Steele. Memorialization will take place at Rosedale Cemetery at a later time. Memorials to a charity of choice would be appreciated.
