RUTH CAMPBELL

RUTH CAMPBELL passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 22, 2005. Ruth was born on January 2, 1925 to Harry and Lily Bracegirdle in Govan, Saskatchewan. From the beginning Ruth was entrepreneurial. She co-owned Country Boy Delivery and Furniture in Moose Jaw and later became passionate about raising miniature dogs. Ruth will be especially missed by special friend, Bob Bullied and two sisters: Edna Zander and family of Wynyard and Irene Dimond and family of Regina. She leaves an empty space in the hearts of her immediate family: daughter, Anna Mather (Ken) of Lethbridge, Alberta and son, Terry Campbell (Colleen) of Moose Jaw; four grandchildren: Ryan Miller (Tanya) of Lethbridge, Shaun Miller (Sue) of Red Deer, Tammi Campbell (Patrick Young) of Saskatoon, and Carla Campbell of Calgary; and twin great-granddaughters: Mikayla and Emily Miller of Lethbridge. She is also survived by the Campbell family of Govan, Saskatchewan. The Funeral Service will be held at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw on Thursday, October 27, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be made at the Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to Saskatchewan Heart & Stroke Foundation, 2360 – 2nd Avenue, Regina, Sask., S4R 1A6. In living memory of Ruth, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

PHYLLIS HEIYDT

Phyllis Margaret Heiydt (nee LeGrand) passed away on October 19, 2007 at the Herbert Integrated Health Care Centre after a battle with cancer. Phyllis was born on February 20, 1927 in Morse after her mother was rushed to the midwife by horse and cutter. Phyllis grew up on the family farm in the Droxford district, where she attended Victoria and Mount Rumble Schools, often traveling to school by horseback. On October 11, 1946, Phyllis married Walter Heiydt, with whom she recently celebrated 61 years of marriage. For the first 8 years of marriage, Walter and Phyllis lived at the Fred Heiydt farm. In 1954, they moved to their present farm which was one mile south of the Fred Heiydt farm. Phyllis was very involved in the farming operation and enjoyed raising black Angus cattle. She also had a lifelong love of horses, and at the age of 80, rode horse to move the cattle out to pasture. Besides working on the farm, Phyllis enjoyed gardening, crochet, and playing cards. She also enjoyed a good joke, and the occasional prank. She was a community minded person, and was president of the Ernfold Cemetery Association for a number of years. Phyllis was predeceased by her parents Ben and Margaret LeGrand, and two sisters June Fjaagesund and Shirley Hardy (Frank). She is survived by her husband Walter, brothers-in-law, Marvin Fjaagesund, Howard Doyle, sister-in-law Freeda Hewitt, many nieces and nephews, and friends. The Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 24 at the Ernfold Community Hall with Pastor Marvin Seaborg officiating. Interment will follow at the Ernfold Cemetery. Those wishing to make donations in Phyllis' memory may do so to the Ernfold Cemetery Association. In living memory of Phyllis, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by Prairie Memorial Funeral Home, Chaplin.

SOPHIA BEITEL

Josepha (Sophia) Hubenig Beitel passed away peacefully in her sleep at Extendicare on January 14, 2006, in her 99th year. Sophia was born in the Killaly district, Saskatchewan on February 26, 1907. She moved to Spring Valley with her parents and two sisters in the early part of the last century. Sophia remained at home until her marriage to Wesley in 1927 and they farmed in the Bayard district for a number of years. Moose Jaw then become home until settling in Regina where they were members of St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church for 35 years. In 1990 they retired back to Moose Jaw. Sophia is predeceased by her parents Edward and Caroline, brother John, sisters Eva and Katherine, and more recently her husband Wesley, daughter Eileen Anton, sons-in-law Jack McLean and Earl Paysen, and grandson John Anton. She leaves to cherish her memory son-in-law Nick Anton; three daughters: Joyce Paysen of Moose Jaw, Kathleen McLean of Calgary and Myrna (Wayne) Kendall of Stoughton; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Church of Our Lady on Thursday January 19, 2006 at 10:00 am. Father Michael Conteh will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday evening 7 – 9 pm at the Funeral Home. Flowers are most gratefully declined. In living memory of Sophia, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

MARJORIE EILEEN HUNT

MARJORIE EILEEN HUNT of Pioneer Lodge, Moose Jaw passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 10, 2005, leaving this world to join her beloved husband Al. Born Marjorie Elliott on July 26, 1924 in Fairfax, Manitoba, she lived on and attended school near the family farm in Fairfax. Upon the death of her father, Marjorie moved with her mother Ethel Elliott and three sisters to Brandon. During the Second World War she met a dashing man in the Royal Canadian Air Force, Alfred George Hunt of Moose Jaw and they were married on September 5, 1946. A thoughtful, caring, and soft-spoken person, Marjorie joyfully dedicated many years as a devoted wife and mother of her two boys. She later served for a number of years at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital as an electrocardiogram technician with her dearest friend, Mabel Knelsen. A long-time member of St. Andrew’s United Church, Marj participated in various church women’s group activities and supporting Al’s involvement in church session, AOTS men’s group, church curling and youth hockey. Until her mid seventies, when ill health prevented it, Marjorie still enjoyed long walks and ice skating with friends. Predeceased by her husband, Al in 1981, her parents, Harper and Ethel Elliott and her sister, Audrey; Marjorie leaves wonderful memories with her two sons: Terry (Judy) of Villanova, Pennsylvania and Larry (Sharon) of Moose Jaw; sisters: Wahnetah (Grant) Williamson of Comox, B.C. and Joan (Ken) Gradidge of Brandon; sister-in-law, Lillian Black of Moose Jaw; grandchildren: Robert of Stanford, California, Catherine of Washington, D.C., Lindsay (Cory) Wuth of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta and Shannon Hunt (Shawn McGillis) of Assiniboia, Wayne Comer and Natasha Hunt of Moose Jaw; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held in St. Andrew’s United Church, 60 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw on Thursday, April 14, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. Reverend Peter J. Calhoun will officiate. Interment will be made at a later date beside Al at Sunset Cemetery, Moose Jaw. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw, Wednesday, April 13th, 7-9p.m. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a contribution to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Canada, P.O.Box 3924, Regina, Saskatchewan, S4P 3S9 or to Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society (S.T.A.R.S.), 1441 Aviation Park N.E., Calgary, Alberta, T2E 8M7. FRED JONES

Fred A. Jones of Moose Jaw passed away at Gravelbourg (Foyer D’Youville) on Monday September 17, 2007 at the age of 90 years. Fred was born in Moose Jaw July 5, 1917. He married Eleanor Tripp on October 1, 1949. For most of his life, he worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway, retiring at age 60. He and Eleanor enjoyed their retirement, traveling, camping, and visiting friends and family. Predeceased by his parents, three brothers and two sisters, he is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Eleanor – Moose Jaw, and their special niece Lynne (Jim) Wolford and their grandchildren, Kathleen and Kameron; and several nieces and nephews. A Service of Remembrance will be held at St. Aidan Anglican Church, 124 First Ave. N.E., on Saturday September 22, 2007 at 1:30 pm. Reverend’s Allen and Denise Doerksen will officiate. Memorialization will take place at a later date. Memorials to St. Aidan Anglican Church would be appreciated. In living memory of Fred, a tree will be planted by W.J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

ALBERT COLE

ALBERT COLE, formerly of the Parkbeg district passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at the age of 85 years. Born September 6, 1921, on the family farm, Albert farmed and lived his entire life in the hills of Parkbeg before moving to Moose Jaw in January where he made his home at Chateau St. Michael until moving to Extendicare where he resided until his passing. Predeceased by his parents, Annie and William Cole, brother, Bill Cole, sisters: Gertie, Doris, Hilda and Ethel. Albert will be sadly missed by his brother, Frank, two sisters: Mabel and Laura as well as several nieces, nephews and friends from the hills of Parkbeg. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw. Della Ferguson will officiate. Interment will take place in the Mortlach Cemetery. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Chateau St. Michael and Extendicare for the excellent care Albert received. For those so wishing, memorial donations may be directed to the Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658, Moose Jaw, S6H 7K7. In living memory of Albert, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. LES LEIPERT

Mr. Leslie Leipert of Regina, formerly of Moose Jaw and Melfort, passed away Wednesday January 31, 2007 at the age of 90 years. Predeceased by his parents, Margaret and Herbert; brothers, Norman, Warren, and Merle; sisters, Esther, Lola and Marlene; and daughter-in-law, Jeanne Leipert.. He is survived by his wife Margaret; sons, Brian (Pauline) – Regina; Bevin (Vi) – Moose Jaw; seven grandchildren: Erik (Beryl), Tim (Jit), Tammy (Julio), Amy (Ken), Trent, Erin and Shaun Hanley; three great-grandchildren, Alex, Hunter, and Anthony; sisters-in-law, Orion Buxton, Eunice Taylor, Dee Taylor, Doreen Leipert, and Ella Leipert; and brother-in-law, Henry Selness. Born, raised and married in the farming community of Pleasant Valley, Saskatchewan. Les was active in his community, an avid hunter and fisherman and successfully competitive in hockey, baseball and curling. In 1957 he moved from the farm to Moose Jaw where he became a very successful entrepreneur. Les and his partners owned and developed service stations, Superior Auto Stores, hotels throughout Saskatchewan, Prairie Oasis Trailer Park, Kenosee Gardens and the Moose Jaw Wild Animal Park. Les and his sweetheart, Margaret enjoyed 67 happy years together. Margaret supported and participated with Les in all the business endeavours. He will be very much missed by all his family and friends. Les is best known by all as the most determined host with the most. The Funeral Service will be held at Zion United Church, 423 Main St. N., Moose Jaw on Monday February 5, 2007 at 2:00 pm. Reverend David Moore will officiate. Interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery at a later date. Memorials to the Cosmopolitan Foundation of Canada Inc., Atten: George Wilson, Treasurer, 1084 East Centre St., Saskatoon, SK, S7J 3A3 or to the Shriners’ Patient Transportation Fund, 1755 Main St. N., Moose Jaw, S6J 1L6, would be appreciated. In living memory of Leslie, a tree has been planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
