On Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at Providence Place, JOCK LOVERIDGE passed away at the age of 93 years. Jock was born in Regina in 1910, and grew up on the family farm in the Aylesbury district. He met and married his wife Marion in 1937 and the couple moved to Moose Jaw where he has resided for 64 years. He worked for many years at Sterling Motors Ford Dealership. Predeceased by his wife Marion, sister-in-law Kathleen Padbury and long time friend, Margaret Gillan, Jock is survived by his daughter Lucretia (Weldon) Feedham of Surrey, B.C.; grandchildren: Sandra, Patsy and Michael; great-grandchildren: Ashleigh, Paige and Taylor, nephew Glenn (Lorraine) Padbury and niece Linda (Jim) Ellis and their families. Following cremation, A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 6, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. in the Providence Place Chapel, Moose Jaw. Reverend Betty Bradley will officiate. Private family memorialization will take place in Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Providence Place, 100-Second Ave. N.E., Moose Jaw, S6H 1B8. The family would like to thank Dr. Braun; the staff at Chateau St. Michael and staff at Providence Place for their kind and gentle care to Jock. RUTH HEARD
Ruth I. Heard of Moose Jaw, passed away Tuesday August 14, 2007 at the age of 93 years. Ruth was born in Toronto on November 25, 1913. She and her husband moved to Ponteix where they farmed until retiring to Moose Jaw. Predeceased by her husband, Elroy in 2003, left to mourn her passing are her nephew, John Hatton - Ontario; and special friends Dorothy Robertson and Sandra Fowler. Following cremation, private memorialization will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. Memorials to the Salvation Army, 175 First Ave. N.E., Moose Jaw, S6H 0Y9, would be appreciated. RONALD HOWE
Ronald Howe, age 73, of Moose Jaw, passed away suddenly at home on September 5, 2007. Ron was a lifetime resident of the Mitchelton district, farmer, rancher, former RM Councillor, and school bus driver, retiring to Moose Jaw in 1997. Ron enjoyed all activities related to farming and livestock, auction and livestock sales, and he especially enjoyed watching his sons and grandchildren participate in hockey, football, dance and music. He was a member of the Elks and Odd Fellows. Predeceased by his father Oswald Reid Howe, mother Lillian Howe (nee Frost); brother R.E. Howe, sister-in-law Charlotte Howe, brother-in-law Colin Mitchell, and granddaughter Larissa. Ron is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dolores Fern (nee Swanson), sons: Thomas (Wanda), Darrell (Avis), and Don (Kathy); grandchildren: Eric, Johnathan, Chelsea, Aurora, Reid, Sydney, Carter, Olivia, Victoria, and Grayson; sister Eileen Mitchell, brother Gordon (Doreen); and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Ron’s life will be held at Minto United Church, 1036 Seventh Ave. NW., on Saturday September 8, 2007 at 1:00 pm. Linda Owens will officiate. Memorialization will take place at a later time. Memorials to the Canadian Diabetes Association, #104 – 2301 Ave. C. North, Saskatoon, SK, S7L 5Z5, would be appreciated. LAWRENCE SADLER
Mr. Lawrence Sadler, life time resident of Moose Jaw, passed away February 3, 2004 at the age of 82 years. Many will remember Lawrence for his many years of service to the Sisters of Providence during his employment at St. Anthony’s Home. In keeping with Lawrence ’s wish, there will be no funeral service. Memorialization will take place at the family plot, Rosedale Cemetery . A very special thank you to all the staff who have cared for Lawrence during his stay at Providence Place . MARY MOSER
MARIA (MARY) MOSER (nee Heindl) passed away to the other side, at the age of 95. Mom was born on May 12, 1910 in Hohenwart, Bavaria, Germany. She immigrated to Canada at the age of nineteen and she and Dad were married July 19, 1929 in Regina, Saskatchewan. Together they had eight children. Maria was predeceased by her husband, Martin August 19, 1980, and by four of her children: Ludwig (eight months old) in 1933; Walter and Eveline (at three and seven years of age in February and March of 1944); and Erwin (Eddie) in February of 1999. Maria is survived by her daughter, Katherine (Ross) Westbrook of Lethbridge, AB; son and wonderful caregiver, Martin; daughter, Evelyn (Bill) Rayner of Regina; and son William (Sheila) of Moose Jaw. Mom will also live on in her eleven grandchildren: Patricia (Paul) Hrynczuk of Coaldale, AB and Donald and Cheryl Westbrook of Lethbridge, AB, Bill and Michael Rayner of Regina and Kareena (Jesus) Rayner–Ramos of Germany, Brad (Stacey) Moser, Adam Moser and Jordan Moser of Moose Jaw and Lori (Mike) Spanier of North Battleford and Cathy (Sean) Dunn of Minot, N.D. Mom was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren: Paul and Tanya Hrynczuk; Joshua, Tristan and Matthew Spanier; Andrew Dunn; James and Ian Ramos; Bailey and Jadyn Moser. Mom was a strong and independent woman, far ahead of her time. She was a loyal friend, a good and faithful servant, a shining example to us all. She was a longtime active member of the Catholic Women’s League and of St. Joseph’s Church. Mom was the greatest cook - who could forget her wiener-schnitzel, red cabbage, apple strudel and famous honey cookies! Mom was also an excellent seamstress. She sewed clothes for her family and crocheted tablecloths and doilies and knit sweaters. Mickey remembers her making cuffs for his trousers when he was young so he could be in style. She did such a good job that his friends brought their pants to her as well and as always, mom obliged. Prayer Services will be held at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel Friday, August 5, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 - Third Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw Saturday, August 6, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Father Nicholas Tswumasi will preside. Interment will follow at the family plot, Rosedale Cemetery. A special thank you to our brother Mickey who took such great care of mom and enabled her to stay in her home which she loved. JANE MORDEN
Margaret Jane Morden passed away peacefully on January 30, 2008 at 87 years of age. She was predeceased by her parents, Annie and Robert Patton, husband Willie Morden and sister Bobbie Mulholland. Jane is survived by her sisters, Jessie Payne and Annie Currie of Central Butte; sons, Stanley (Carol) of Broadview, and Leo of Central Butte; grandchildren: Robin Morden of Winnipeg, MB, Oriole (Marlin) Johnson of Martensville, SK, Marty Morden (friend Monica) of Dauphin, MB, and Curtis Morden of Calgary; great-grandson Dustin Johnson of Edmonton, AB; great-granddaughters Desirae and Shayla Johnson of Martensville; and several nieces and nephews. Jane was born in Donghadee, Ireland July 9, 1920. She arrived in Canada in Quebec in 1926 at the age of 6, along with her sisters Annie age 4 and Jessie age 4 months. Her sister Bobbie was born in Central Butte in 1934. Jane married Willie Morden on July 21, 1937. They raised two sons on the farm where Jane remained until moving to Regency Manor in Central Butte. Jane was an avid gardener and loved animals. She always had pet cows, lambs, ducks, chickens, dogs, and cats, and even at one time had a pet crow and skunk. Jane also enjoyed dancing and belonged to many different clubs. She also loved to travel and saw many countries; the most enjoyable were Australia and Ireland. The Funeral Service will be held at the Central Butte United Church on Saturday February 2, 2008 at 2:00 pm. Pastor Marvin Seaborg will officiate. Interment will follow at the Central Butte Cemetery. Memorials in Margaret’s memory can be made to the Sask. Heart & Stroke Foundation, 2360 – 2nd Ave., Regina, SK, S4R 1A6 or the Regency Manor, Central Butte, SK. HORACE DOUGALD “ACE” BEACH
It is with sadness that the family of Horace Beach announces the passing of our Dad and Papa, on October 2, 2008 in Saskatoon at City Hospital peacefully in his sleep at the age of 89. Horace was preceded by his wife Maxie, brothers, Garnet, Paul, Dexter, Royal, infant sister Gwendolyn, and parents James and Floria. He is survived by his children Dave (Sharon), Doug (Laurie), Wayne (Sharon), Louise (Tim), Gwen, Dawna, Peter (Jean); grandchildren, Morgan, Graydon, Kaila, Cristian, Brendan, Ashley, Nicole and Ashley; brothers Norman, Homer, Orland and sisters Joy, Pauline, Dorothy and Dawna’s mother Wendy Beach. Dad also leaves behind a very close friend Gary Latham. Dad was born on the family farm at Ernfold, Saskatchewan, March 12, 1919, where he grew up and attended school. He then attended the University of Saskatchewan, to study agriculture. When war broke out he joined the Canadian Officers Training Corps, and went into the army as a second Lieutenant. He served with the Trois Rivieres Regiment Tank Core in North Africa and Italy. He received the American Silver Star Medal in 1945 for negotiating the surrender of 140 enemy soldiers, after which he was promoted to Captain. He stayed on after the war and posted to Germany where he met his future wife Maxie. He then went to Edinburgh University where his interest in psychology began. In 1946 he headed back to the family farm in Ernfold. He returned to the Saskatoon to complete his Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University of Saskatchewan. During the summer of 1948 he returned to Germany to attend an International Students Conference. There he was reunited with Maxie, and shortly after she immigrated to Canada. They were married in January of 1949. After completing his Bachelor of Arts Degree, Dad was awarded the Rhodes scholarship to attend Oxford University in England, where he graduated with a Masters Degree in Psychology and Philosophy in 1951. From there he was accepted to McGill University and earned his PhD in Psychology. Dad accepted a job in St. John’s Newfoundland as a clinical psychologist. After this he moved to Halifax where he established and became the Director of Counseling Services. In 1972 he and Maxie and their family moved to Victoria, B.C., where Dad was the Director of the Counseling Center at the University of Victoria, until his retirement in 1984. During his distinguished career Dad researched and published numerous articles, papers and books. He was involved in various organizations and held high office in a large number of them. In 1977 he was awarded Award of Merit by the Canadian University Counseling Association for his outstanding service in the areas of student services, applied psychology and, particular university counseling. He will be missed by all. A celebration of Dad’s life will be held on Tuesday October 7, 2008 at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, at 1:30 pm.
