Gregory "Garnet" Watamanuk passed away at the Pioneer Lodge, December 9, 2009 at the age of 96. He is survived by his brother Dan Watamanuk and his sister Gene Hobbs, both of Moose Jaw, SK, sisters-in-law Audrey Campbell, Doreen Watermanuk, Katie Watamanuk and many nieces and nephews. Garnet was born January 9, 1913 at the family farm near Readlyn, SK. He was the sixth of fourteen children born to Josif and Eleana Watamanuk. Garnet was predeceased by his parents, brothers Vasile (infant), Bill, John, Nick, George, and Ted; sisters Annie Krasuin, Mary McLaughlin, Elizabeth Wrobleski, Margaret Lascue and Dorothy Itcush. Garnet was a dedicated keeper of his land and animals until he semi-retired to Assiniboia and then Moose Jaw. He had life long interests in horses, nature, gardening and his family. The family wishes to offer special thanks to the care givers at Pioneer Lodge, Carol Miller, and Donna's Compassionate Care for their dedication to Garnet. Family and friends are invited to prayers at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Sunday, December 13, 2009 at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home on Monday, December 14, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. Father David Edwards will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial tribute may be made in Garnet's name to a charity of your choice. In living memory of Garnet, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
PHYLLIS KILKENNY
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of PHYLLIS ISABEL KILKENNY (nee: Paysen) who passed away on August 26, 2004 at the age of 77 years. Born August 9, 1927, Phyllis was a loving wife and devoted mother. Predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth and Charles Paysen, an infant son, Joseph, brother, George Paysen, and her sister, Irene Broadis. Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Leonard and daughters: Marilyn (Darrin) Smith, Dawn (Kevin) Tondevold, Colleen (Jeff) Bennett, Gaylene (Paul) Fister; grandchildren: Bria, Derek, Mike (Kim), Matt (Tessa), Tanya (Dallas), Corey, Dayna, Jillian, Jade, Myles (Alissa) and Dylan; great-grandchildren: Jordan, Kelsey and Sydney, one sister, Marjorie Miller; sisters-in-law: Eileen Walkeden, Dorothy and Marjorie Kilkenny and Agnes Paysen as well as several nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 30, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend Father Alex Osei C.S.Sp. will officiate. Prayers will be held Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Cremation will take place with memorialization at Rosedale Cemetery at a later time. NORMAN McKENZIE
Norman Vaughn James Alexander McKenzie, aged 71 years of Moose Jaw, passed away Sunday June 15, 2003. Norman was born on September 18, 1931 in Moose Jaw, Sask., son of John and Susan McKenzie. Norman worked for CP Rail for a couple of years before joining the Canadian Armed Forces. He was posted in Zweibruken, West Germany where his son Craig was born March 1964. He was then posted to Toronto, Yorkton, Montreal, and finally to Moose Jaw where he retired from the Air Force. Following this he commenced employment with Canada Post until his retirement in 1987. For the past few years Norman enjoyed his daily meals at the Modern and the Rainbow Café, and never missed purchasing his weekly lottery tickets from Carr’s Confectionary on South Hill. Norman cherished visits with his grandchildren, studying his deep family roots and never ever forgot statistics. He had a dry sense of humour, and enjoyed listening to and telling a good joke. Norman was an avid sportsman, enjoying the games of golf, curling and jogging until his knees said to slow down, then he took up walking a few miles every day. Norman leaves to cherish his memory, his loving son, Craig (Sandra) McKenzie and their children, Adam, Alex, and Brooke of Regina; brother, Dr. Ian (Dorothy) McKenzie of Northridge, California; sisters: Marg Greene of Prince Albert; and Lois (Darrel) Bush of Long Beach, California; sister-in-law, Evelyn McKenzie of Moose Jaw; aunt, Alma Ausey of Renton, Washington. and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Norman is predeceased by his parents John and Susan McKenzie; brother, Hugh McKenzie; brother-in-law, Doug Greene; nephew, Jim Greene; great-niece, Ashley Lerfold, aunts: Harriet Davey and Hazel Cochren of Deming, New Mexico. A Celebration of Norman’s Life will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at 11:00 am. Father Gerry Bauche will officiate. Cremation. FRAN BENNETT
MRS. FRANCES ANN “FRAN” BENNETT passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at the age of 74 years. She was born at Admiral, Saskatchewan January 20, 1932. On November 16, 1953 Fran married Budd Bennett and they continued to reside in the city. For many years Fran worked at both Hospitals in Moose Jaw, for a Doctor’s office and also at Ina Grafton Gage Home as a Registered Nurse. Predeceased by her parents, Ivan and Ann Bangle, two sisters and five brothers, Fran is survived by her husband, Budd; two daughters: Kerri (Perry) Bell – Medicine Hat and Yvonne Bennett – Moose Jaw; six grandchildren: Karyn, Jodi, Melissa, Falon, Steven and Adam; two great-grandchildren, one sister, Lorraine Dixon – Saskatoon, and one brother, Stuart (Lois) Bangle – Warren, Manitoba. A Memorial Service will be held in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Nobuko Iwai will officiate. In sadness, the family wishes to announce the passing of Margaret A. Gamble, dearest wife, mother and grandmother. Lovingly remembered by husband Donald of 50 years; children: Larry (Diana) and their family, Laura, Larry Jr., and Ben; Sandra (Clint) Cave and their family, Andrew and Daniel J.; Shelley (Wade) Heintz and their family, Alexander and Kaieleigh; and numerous aunts and uncles. ROBERT BUSHNELL
It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Bushnell announces his passing on October 11, 2007. Robert is survived by and leaves to mourn his wife of 40 years, Sheila, daughter Anna, son Brian (Melanie), half-sister Judy (Doug), and their daughter Hannah; brother and sister-in-law George and Ada Wilson, and their children Carla and David; as well as numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. Robert served his country for 20 years in the Canadian Navy, stationed in BC, NWT, and Saskatchewan, as well as on the Naval Ships HMCS Provider and HMCS MacKenzie. After his military career, he worked at the CNIB and was the Administrative Director of The Persephone Theatre. In 1983 Robert graduated with a certificate in Health Care Administration which he put to use as Nursing Care Administrator in Kamsack, SK and Hospital Administrator in Coronach, SK. Robert touched many lives, every place he had been. A Celebration of Robert’s life will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 60 Athabasca St. E., on Wednesday October 17, 2007 at 1:30 pm. Art Boisclair of Moose Jaw, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2008, with his family by his side. Art is survived by his wife, Donna; sons Art (Eunice), and James Oakley; daughters Margaret (Pete) Wiebe, Diane Cusons and Cindy Boisclair; stepdaughters Lorrie (Gord) Windover, Melodie (Todd) Straub; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren; mother-in-law Margaret Wendt; brother Don (Karel); aunts Katie Brown and Pauline Robertson; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ray McBride, Polly Boisclair, Delores (Al) Miller, Charlie (Greda) Wendt, Harry Wendt, John (Pat) Wendt, Herman Wendt, Margaret (Dennis) Miedle, Hazel Brown, Marion (Ed) Blandin, Mary Cartwright; many extended family; special friends Jim (Audrey) Dykes, Bud (Gail) Moore, and Connie (Thorsten) Henry.
