BRIAN WEST

Funeral services for Mr. Brian West of Valley View Centre were held on Friday March 23, 2007. Brian was born June 21, 1941 and has been a longtime resident of Valley View Centre, Moose Jaw. Following cremation Memorialization will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Regina.

ANNIE FITZHARRIS

Annie Fitzharris, age 90 of Moose Jaw, passed away quietly in Palm Springs, CA, on January 5, 2007. Annie was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on June 5, 1916. She married Stanley Edward on March 8, 1945. They lived in Bateman, SK, moving to Moose Jaw in 1951. Annie was a member of the Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion and the ANAVETS. She was also active in her church. Annie was well known for her talents in floral arranging and baking, especially her Scotch Shortbread. She loved to sing silly songs to her grandkids. Annie played darts for many years and loved to travel. She had two children which she adored: Betty of Nova Scotia, and David (Jenny) of BC; five grandchildren, Anne, Patti, Carolyn, Barb and Matthew; three great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Kristina, and Caitlin. They were all her pride and joy. Annie was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. She is predeceased by her husband Stanley in February 1988. The Funeral Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Wednesday January 17, 2007 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Frank Mitchell will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, Box 102 – 103 Hospital Drive, Saskatoon, S7N 0W8, would be appreciated. In living memory of Annie, a tree has been planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

SAM CRISTO JR.

Sam passed away June 7, 2007 at Moose Jaw Union Hospital. He was born on August 13, 1927 at Stonehenge NW 35-6-2 w3 and attended Twelve Mile Lake School. Sam worked for CP Rail as a section hand and later as a service man in a locomotive shop. Next he worked as a salesman for a number of years. He began working April 4, 1962 as a traffic officer with the Highway Traffic Board and then transferred to SGI in 1986 as a driver examiner. Sam retired as District Examiner in November 1990. After he retired he worked casually as an Appeals Hearing Officer. Throughout his life Sam did a great deal of volunteer work with several worthwhile causes such as Meals on Wheels, the Orange Home, Elks, volunteer driving and canvassing for every cause you could name. He was also very active with the NDP Party. Sam married Maxine Hallborg August 27, 1977 and they settled in Moose Jaw. Sam was a devoted husband, stepfather, a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, a wonderful brother, uncle and friend. Sam and Maxine enjoyed many holidays together. After Sam’s retirement they joined the Moose Jaw Camp Club where Sam was very involved and was Wagon Master for several years. They really looked forward to each camping trip to be with their friends and often invited family to join in the fun. Sam enjoyed many hobbies such as golfing, playing cards (especially crib), gardening, and going to the casino. Sam was predeceased by his wife Maxine, his parents Samuel and Lena, stepsons Barry Hallborg and Calvin Hallborg, brother-in-law John Bachiu, sisters-in law Vera, Kay, Alice, and Margaret, and great-nephew Benjamin. Sam leaves to mourn in his passing brothers Bill of Fort Qu’Appelle, John (Pearle) of Saskatoon, George of Assiniboia, sisters Mary Bachiu of Assiniboia, Vicky Allers (Arnold) of Onoway, AB, numerous nieces and nephews, stepson Milton Hallborg (Gina) of Chaplin, stepdaughter Brenda Sims (Barry) of Chaplin, stepdaughters-in-law Wanda Hallborg of Moose Jaw and Sherry Hallborg of Chaplin, nine grandchildren, Jeremy, Lynette (Blair Kotz), Shannon (Lee Pearson), Curtis, Tricia, Melanie, Tina (Kevin Liebaert), Christopher and Michael, three great-grandchildren Luke, Kaitlyn and Danika, extended family and special friends. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrew's United Church, 60 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw, on Monday, June 11, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Doug Shepherd will officiate. Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday evening 7 - 9 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross Street W., Moose Jaw, SK S6H 2M2, would be appreciated. In living memory of Sam, a tree has been planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

IAN CUNDALL

Alfred Ian Cundall, longtime resident of Moose Jaw and area passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at Coteau Range Manor in Avonlea, Saskatchewan. He was 88 years of age. Ian was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rose in 2003. He is survived by his daughters, Larralyn McKay of Kinmount, ON and Ann Cundall of Minden, ON. He also leaves three grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. Ian served with the 4th Canadian Armoured Division, 9th FieldSquadron- Engineers, during WWII, opening up transportation routes and building bridges during the Battle of the Scheldt and the liberation of the Netherlands. Prior to retirement Ian was a baker Valley View Center in Moose Jaw. Before moving to Coteau Range Manor, (formerly Avonlea Villa), he was a member of the Lynbrook Golf Club and the Cosmos Senior Citizens Centre. Ian's main pastime was dancing. Rose and Ian spent many years calling and cuing square and round dancing in Moose Jaw and surrounding area. Ian Called for the Saints and Sinners, the Camlachie Twirlers and the Newberry Merry Mixers, as well as assisting wife Rose with her Rosettes Round Dance Club. As well Ian and Rose instructed Ballroom Dancing in the Moose Jaw area for many years. In keeping with Ian's request, no funeral service was held. Private burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those who wish to join in the celebration of Ian's life may send donations to the Minden Ontario Branch 636 Royal Canadian Legion-Poppy Fund, (this fund helps veterans in need), Box 238 Minden, Ontario K0M 2K0; or Coteau Range Manor, Box 60, Avonlea, SK, S0H 0C0 (make cheques payable to Village of Avonlea). In living memory of Ian, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

DR. W. JAMES NORYS

Dr. W. James Norys, M.D., F.R.C.P., aged 75 years, of Calgary, AB., passed away suddenly on February 5, 2007 in a Calgary hospital. Predeceased by his parents, William and Annie Norys, he will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Theresa Norys, grandson Nikolaas; daughter Marni Norys, brother Peter (Helen), two aunts, and several cousins. Jim was born in Moose Jaw, attended Westmount School and Central Collegiate. He graduated with his M.D. at the University of Saskatoon, and he completed his degree in Psychiatry in Edmonton, AB. He was in private practice in Calgary, AB until he retired in 1995. Jim started violin lessons when he was five and developed a passion for playing. Throughout his schooling and training he played in symphony orchestras in Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina, and the Calgary Philharmonic. A Service of Remembrance will be held in Calgary at a later date, with a Private Graveside Service in the family plot at Rosedale Cemetery. In living memory of Jim, a tree has been planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

MARY ROBINSON

Mary Robinson of Moose Jaw, formerly of Assiniboia passed away after a long courageous struggle with her health on Friday May 11, 2007 at the age of 80. Mary was born in Mazenod, Saskatchewan. She married Lorne Robinson in 1947 and moved to Assiniboia where they resided and farmed at Valor. For many years Mary was the manager of Sears and was proud to have earned the position. She was a long time member of the Assiniboia Royal Purple. Mary’s home was meticulous and carried on into her yard work and hobbies which included sewing, crafts and baking. Mary is predeceased by her husband Lorne, and her son Ron. Mary will be sadly missed by her daughter Linda Maloney of Calgary, her grandson John Maloney of Los Angeles, and one sister Frieda Meginbir of Moose Jaw, as well as numerous family and friends. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday May 16, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel with Pastor Barry Gammie officiating. Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Assiniboia. Donations would be gratefully accepted in Mary’s honor to the Arthritis Society, #110 – 2550 –12th Avenue, Regina, Saskatchewan, S4P 3X1 in lieu of flowers and gifts. In living memory of Mary, a tree has been planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

HAZEL MORGAN

MRS. HAZEL MORGAN, age 88, of Moose Jaw passed away suddenly at home on March 1, 2007. Predeceased by her parents, husband, Harold and daughter, Rita Wright, Hazel is survived by her children: Frank Morgan and Dave Morgan; grandchildren: Shelley Moerike, Gloria Koshman, Krystal Morgan, Greg Wright, Catharine Dietzmen and Betty Guoriard; great-grandchildren: Carlie Koshman, Carter Koshman, Kyle Moerike, Alexis Wright, Luke Dietzmen, Kaitlynn Dietzmen, Rebecca Dietzmen and Kurt Dietzmen. The Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend Frank Mitchell will officiate. Memorialization will take place at Sunset Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Saskatchewan Heart & Stroke Foundation, 2360 – 2nd Ave. Regina, S4R 1A6. In living memory of Hazel, a tree has been planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
