MR. ALBERT “BERT” PARTRIDGE passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, June 2, 2009. Bert was born in Worcester, England to Beatrice (Leach) and Edward Partridge. They immigrated to Canada when he was four years old. The family started out in Montreal moving to try their hand at farming in Indian Head and settled into farming in Edgely. Bert met Luvinia in Fort Qu’Appelle when she was working at Fort San. He charmed her into marrying him November 10, 1947. They lived for a short time in Craik, settling in Moose Jaw in 1951 to raise their boys. Bert had a long career in highway construction. He worked for thirty years with Ramsey Bird Construction and finished his working career with Cypress Paving. Upon retirement he enjoyed many road trips and camping with Luvinia. He loved spending time with his coffee buddies right up until he was unable to make it there. Predeceased by his parents, Beatrice and Edward; brothers: Henry and George and twin brother and sister, Arthur and Freda, Bert is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Luvinia, his two sons Leonard and Gerald (Karen); granddaughters: Whitney and Mackenzie. A private family Interment will take place. A Memorial Tea in Bert’s memory will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2009; 2-4p.m. at the W. J. Jones & Son Family Centre, 262 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Memorials to the Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658, S6H 7K7 would be appreciated. In living memory of Bert, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
Helen M. Anderson

Helen M .Anderson (nee Mattson) passed away peacefully at home on June 4, 2009 at the age of 83 years, family at her side. Helen was predeceased by her loving husband Grant (2002) and siblings Edna, Raymond, Morris, Kenneth and Mabel. She leaves behind her sisters May and Lillian, sisters-in-law, Eilleen Mattson and Pat Anderson; her two sons Del (Bev) - Moose Jaw, Ken (Debbie) - Granum AB, daughter Penny (Don) – Regina; grandchildren: Stacey (Mike) - Cochrane AB, Derek (Carrie ) - Cochrane, AB, Tisha - Regina, Jock – Brooks, AB; great-grandchildren, Jade, Kali, Macyn, JR, and Mattie; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Helen was born on December 21, 1925 in Cabri, Saskatchewan, married Grant in Moose Jaw on February 2, 1949. She will always be remembered for her kind heart and her love of dancing, playing cards, going to Grey Cup games, and curling. She was a “great” grandma. We love you and will miss you. In keeping with Helen’s wish, there will be no funeral service. Following cremation, a Graveside Service will be held at Rosedale Cemetery on Monday June 8, 2009 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Doug Shepherd will officiate. Those wishing to attend may meet at the Cemetery gate at 1:15 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Sask. Fire Fighters Burn Fund, Box 244, Regina Sask. Lionel Tremblay

Dear friends and family – a few words to let you know that Lionel (Dad) passed away peacefully in the early morning on June 6 at the age of 87. Lionel was born and lived in the Courval district. He attended Courval School to grade ten and took his grade eleven at Coderre High School. He then went to College Mathieu and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Ottawa in 1940. He was accepted to attend university in Saskatoon but his father asked him to stay and help on the farm. This was the start of his successful farming career in the Courval area until his retirement in 2002. Lionel and Bernadette retired in Moose Jaw and resided at Rosewood Apartments. Over the years, Lionel (Dad) always maintained a keen interest and active participation in all community activities and organizations. He was involved, at one time or another, with the R.M. of Rodgers Council, St. Joseph’s Church, St. Charles School, Courval Community Club, the North Courval Telephone Co., the French Cultural Organization and President of Coderre/Courval and R.M. Rodgers History Board. Lionel also gave a “helping hand” at Rosewood Apartments whenever needed. Some of Lionel’s interests were antiques, furniture refinishing, his daily crossword and Soduku puzzles, playing cards and visiting with family and friends. Predeceased by his parents, Joseph H. and Dorilla Tremblay, his brother, Armand and brother-in-law, Roy Smith. Lionel is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Bernadette (Bourgeois); five children: Leo (Peggy) Tremblay of Courval, Denise Kirkham of Regina, Paulette (Ross) McMillan of Calgary, Marc Tremblay of Moose Jaw and Jackie (Bruce) Johnstone of Coderre. He will be missed by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Remi (Alex) and Brian Tremblay; Justin (Joanne) and Dina, Jonah, Anna Tremblay; Trina (Greg) and Logan Hill; Chantelle (Blaine) Kirkham Buckle and Dustin, Stephen, Justin; Nathan (Cara) and Brynn Kirkham; Jason (Amy) and Sydney McMillan; Jody (Martin) Juliebo; Amee (Kevin) Mawson; Monique Deschambeault; Jill (Chris) and Cody, Chase McKee; Byron (Kendra) and Grady Johnstone; and Craig (Rebeca) Johnstone. Lionel is also survived by his three sisters: Laurette (Edward) of Coderre, Gisele Smith and Helen (Benny) Uchacz. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3rd Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw. Reverend Father John Foley will preside. Interment will follow at Courval Cemetery. For those so wishing, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2. AUDREY ELEANOR McDONALD RING passed away on June 7, 2009 following a long illness. She was born on October 14, 1926 in Moose Jaw and raised here. Audrey was predeceased by her husband, Cecil. She is survived by her children, Brian Ring – Winnipeg, Manitoba and Laurienne and her husband Dale Clark – Alcove, Quebec; her grandchildren, Daniel Clark – Toronto and Sarah Clark Morgan – Toronto; her sister, Hilda McDonald – Saskatoon and brother-in-law, Lloyd Ring and his wife, Gwen – Moose Jaw, as well as her nieces. Funeral Services will be held at St. Aidan Anglican Church, 124 First Ave. N.E., on Friday, June 12, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. Reverend Allen Doerksen will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Allan-Blair Memorial Clinic, 4101 Dewdney Ave., Regina, S4T 1A5 or the St. Aidan Anglican Church Building Fund. Hazel Lewry of Moose Jaw passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2009 at the age of 98 years. Hazel was predeceased by her husband Frank, her only son, Robert George on April 19, 2009, her parents, George and Bessie Emery, sisters, Wilma Doucet and Bernice Hall; and brothers, Charles and Malcolm. Hazel is survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins. Hazel was a graduate of the 1933 class of nurses from the Moose Jaw General Hospital and was awarded the F.J. Wilson prize for practical nursing. She proved to be a very worthy recipient having a long and distinguished career in nursing. Hazel was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Wa Wa Shrine Ladies' Auxiliary, and held a lifetime honourary membership in the Moose Jaw Union Hospital Nurses Alumnae. The family wishes to thank Pioneers Lodge for their very compassionate care of Hazel. The Service of Remembrance will be held at W.J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw on Saturday June 13, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. Her cremated remains will be scattered in the Garden of Remembrance at First Memorial, in Victoria B.C. Michael “Mike” Dirk passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday June 11, 2009 at the age of 85. Mike was born April 25, 1924 in the Liebenthal district, near Leader, SK. His family moved to Moose Jaw where he met the love of his life Velma E. Farnham. Mike was a semi-truck driver for 27years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. Camping with his family and the Moose Jaw Camping Club was another favourite activity. Mike is survived by his wife of 62 years, Velma; his constant companion Scooby; daughter Chery Ann (Jim) Hoffmeyer – Sherwood Park, AB, and their sons Shawn (Shannon) and Chad (daughter Ashley); daughter Diane (Shane) Migneault and their family Jared and Braden Huel, Benjamin (Alesia) Migneault, Rebecca (Pete) Lewans, Tyson (Brittany) Migneault; sister Rose (Allan) Woit; great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mike was predeceased by his parents Clara and Joseph Dirk; sister Ann Bonogofski; and sister and brother-in-law Agatha “Mary” and John Steinkey. In his later years Mike experienced peacefulness at the family cabin at the lake. Mike’s sense of humour and joy of life will live on in all whose lives he touched. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered… A Memorial Service will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Tuesday June 16, 2009 at 1:30 pm. Della Ferguson will officiate.
