FLOYD KING
June 29, 1924 – March 20, 2005

Floyd died as he lived – content and enjoying life while vacationing in Maui, Hawaii. He was on the last of many vacations that he and Marie took after his retirement in 1985 as plumbing foreman at CFB Moose Jaw. Their travels took them across Canada and to many countries throughout the world. One of his most memorable trips was to South Africa with his twin “boys” the day after he celebrated his 50th Anniversary with Marie. Floyd was the son of Tuxford pioneers, Percy and Bertha King. He was born in Tuxford, attended school there and lived on the family farm until moving his wife and young family to Moose Jaw in 1957. Among the things he enjoyed were: Marie’s cooking, coffee with the Shriners, a chat with anyone, fishing with his sons, family get-togethers and a drink of scotch. Floyd is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marie; his only daughter, Janice “Little Chief” (Ken) Dockham of Regina and their family: Carrie Hackel, Kell Dockham, Charis (Mark) Patterson, Aaron (fiancé Lindsay) Hackel, Katherine Dockham; son, Kenneth Floyd (Noreen) King of Saskatoon and their children: Karen and Ryan; and son Keith Percy (Roseann) King of Hudson Bay and their family: Jocelyn (Tyson) Chillog, Abby King, Heather (Jason) Hayworth, Jonathan (fiancé Giselle) King and Rebecca King. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Mason Skene; Bryden, Kiona and Avah Chillog; Ellie and Cameron Hayworth. A Celebration of Floyd’s Life will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Minto United Church, 1036 7th Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw with Reverend John Carley officiating. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, for those so wishing, memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 2065 Hamilton Street, Regina, Sask., S4P 2E1 or to Minto United Church, 1036 7th Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw, Sask., S6H 4C4. DON BRADSHAW

Donald Bradshaw, age 95, of Herbert, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, July 6, 2006. Don was born at Caron, SK, on December 12, 1910, to David and Ann Bradshaw, the oldest in a family of 10. He lost his mother in the flu epidemic of 1919, so he had a lot of responsibility in helping with farm work and caring for the younger children. His sister remembers him making them pies! His Dad later married his wife's younger sister who had come from Scotland to care for the children. Don’s dad worked for the C.P.R. so they moved from Parkbeg to Chaplin and then to Milden, where Don began driving a school van while attending school himself, and also worked for farmers. He worked at garages and farms, drove truck, and worked at road building and construction over the years. The family moved to Elrose for a few years, then to Herbert in 1962, where Don again worked for the town, doing everything from sewer and water installation to acting as town police. He stayed there until retirement and continued to plow snow for several more years after. As a young man he played baseball and hockey and loved curling. He refereed hundreds of hockey games, and continued to do so even after he moved to Herbert. He and two friends had season tickets and for many years never missed a Broncos game. After the children were grown up, he and Edith took many trips to B.C., the U.S.A, and one big trip all the way to Newfoundland with Doug, Carolyn and Keith. He helped at the sales at Neufeld Auctions until he was in his late 80's, and he and his friend Vic Schwean attended hundreds of farm sales around the countryside. Don loved children and always had suckers for them. After he started to lose his eyesight and began to travel by scooter, he became known as “the Candyman". He eventually ended up giving suckers to a second generation of kids. The hardest thing in the past year was not being able to get out and about on his scooter. Don was predeceased by his parents, David and Ann, his stepmother Isabell, his beloved wife Edith, brothers John and Jim, and sister Barbara. He is survived by his sisters Ina Atkinson, Betty (Jim Mckenzie), Pat (Cliff Head), Margaret (Jack Lefaivre); his brothers Hugh and Bill (Sandy), his children, Margaret Myers, Lorraine (Stan Leadley), Barbara (Allen Berting), Marie (Mike Waselyshen), Ken (Joan) and Doug (Carolyn), 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service was held at the Lutheran Church in Herbert on Wednesday July 12, 2006, with interment at Morse Cemetery, Reverend Terry Simonson officiating. Pallbearers were grandsons and great-grandsons Keith Bradshaw, Miles Myers, David Waselyshen, Jason Myers, B.J. Stusrud, and Brent Stusrud. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Herbert Health Care Auxiliary, c/o Esther Sigurdson, Herbert, SON 2AO. In living memory of Don, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by Prairie Memorial Funeral Home, Chaplin, Saskatchewan .
