ALLEN DODS

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of KENNETH ALLEN DODS on November 24, 2006, at the age of 54 years. Allen was born at Mankota, Saskatchewan on November 24, 1952, the oldest of three boys born to Ralph and Gladys Dods. He attended school in Climax, Meyronne, Moose Jaw and high school at Western Christian College in Weyburn. After high school he moved to Alberta and worked at various jobs until he moved back to Moose Jaw in 1988. When he returned Allen worked various jobs that involved driving. He found a job driving taxi at two different companies, Amils and Central. Al really enjoyed his job. He met many interesting people from all walks of life. Some of the most interesting people came from the Canadian Forces Base at Moose Jaw, as a result he became very good friends with many of the Military personnel. He became known by some of his fares as Al, Big Al, Car #8 or Car #5. Big Al will be missed by every one of them and many other friends and co-workers. Al is survived by his wife, Wendy, his four children: Steve (Paula) and their children: Drew and Oaklan; Sherri and her children: Paige and Zaydin; Karen (Jeremy) and their children: Anthony, Jessica and Cayla, and Vicki (Tim) and their children: Austin and Jadin, his parents, Ralph and Gladys; two brothers: Keith, Mel (Patrick). He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, his in-laws, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 1, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday evening, 7-9 p.m. at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Saskatchewan Heart & Stroke Foundation, 2360 – 2nd Ave., Regina, S4R 1A6 or to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 104, 2301 Ave. C. North, Saskatoon, S7L 5Z5 would be greatly appreciated. In living memory of Allen, a tree has been planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

MARY E. CASEY

Mary Eileen Casey (Gass), born May 25, 1914, died May 20, 2005. Predeceased by beloved husband, Jack, in 1983, she is survived by son Mike (Sheena); daughters Judy and Cathy (Don); and three grandchildren, Casey, Curtis, and Craig. A Celebration of Mary’s life will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw, on Tuesday May 24, 2005 at 2:00 pm. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Providence Place Foundation, 100 Second Ave. N.E., S6H 1B8, or to a charity of one’s choice. In living memory of Mary, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

FRED MORGAN

It is with great sadness that the family of FREDERICK (FRED) WALTER MORGAN announce his passing, surrounded by family on Saturday, November 8, 2008. Fred was born on March 30, 1915 to Albert and Annie (Wickens) Morgan in Edmonton (Strathcona) Alberta. Evelyn (Lawes) and Fred were married in 1943. Fred joined the army in 1941, and was later transferred to the air force where he served in England during World War II. Upon his return from war service, he was honourably discharged and provided with training in the field of watch repair. His career moved the family from Edmonton to Wainwright, Alberta in 1958, and to Moose Jaw in 1960. Watch repair remained his career until 1989 when he retired from his shop at the Moose Jaw Co-op. Fred enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, lawn and alley bowling, camping and playing cards, especially crib. He will be missed for his generosity, sense of humor, love of food and cooking, and his stories about the good old days. Predeceased by his wife, Evelyn, his parents and two sisters and their husbands: Doris (Ed) Lawton and Esther (John) Sandercock, Fred will be sadly missed by his daughters: Joan (Russ) Bell – Moose Jaw, Edith (David) Owen – Regina, son, James – Regina; grandchildren: Cathy Bell (Blair Vautour), Chris Bell (Nikki Martin), Stephen (Nicole) Owen, Kyle Owen, Terri Morgan (Colby Nargang), Joe Morgan, great-grandsons: Jake and Jaya, brother, Bob (Pat) Morgan and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A Celebration of Fred’s Life will be held on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Della Ferguson will officiate. For those so wishing, memorial donations may be made to the CNIB, 2550 Broad St., Regina, S4P 9Z9 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W. S6H 2M2. In living memory of Fred, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

LEONA NESTOR

LEONA NESTOR passed away peacefully at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital on April 12, 2008 at the age of 89 years. Born August 28, 1918 at Hyas, Saskatchewan. She married Bill Nestor in Moose Jaw on June 30, 1940. She was a long time employee at the Providence Hospital and member of St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church. It was there she logged in countless hours making perogies and cabbage rolls. Her favorite past-times were dancing, having coffee with friends, playing Bingo, baking and entertaining. Her special passion was tending to her beautiful flower beds and bountiful garden – especially her red poppies that were admired by many and even featured in the Moose Jaw Times Herald. Leona was predeceased by her husband, William (Bill) of 59 years (Dec./99); her son, Raymond (Nov./07); parents: Sam and Annie Keveryga; sisters: Helen Lenych, Mary Reznik, Lily Rapchuk, Pauline Aakre, Nettie Marak, Madeline Prysanki, Olga Wetaski, Pearl Golda and brother, John Keveryga. Leona is survived by her grandchildren: Jody (Don) Walliser – Calgary, Barry (Michele) and Robert – all of Saskatoon, and their mother, Marge Nestor – Regina; great-grandchildren: Alexa-Rae, Carlie, Cameron, Brett, Olivia and Joel; sisters: Katherine Kuzik – Sturgis, SK and Josephine Melnik – Simcoe, ON; her brother, Bill (Florence) Keveryga – Calgary, as well as many nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends. Leona’s family would like to express their appreciation to the Moose Jaw Union Hospital Staff, Ina Grafton Gage Home Staff, as well as the many family members and friends who helped us out with Grandma when we could not be there. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw. Reverend David Moore will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday from 11a.m. until 12 noon at the Funeral Home. For those so wishing, memorials may be made to the Saskatchewan Heart & Stroke Foundation, 2360 – 2nd Avenue, Regina, S4R 1A6. In living memory of Leona, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

MAY GREEN

Mrs. Annie Emma May Green of Moose Jaw, passed away quietly on July 20, 2008 at the age of 92 years. She is predeceased by her brother Earl Douglas, and her parents Alfred and Jennie Douglas, her first husband Ian Paisley, and her second husband, Charles Green, and step-daughter, Mary Jane Green. She is survived by her brothers-in-law, Basil Green - Moose Jaw, Fred Green - Ottawa and Howard (Eileen) Green - Melfort, sister-in-law Jean Ballagh - Beaverton, ON, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins, especially Alice and Ted Fairbairn - Ottawa who she kept in close touch with. Also surviving her are her step-children Marj and Bruno Weiss - Regina, David and Janice Green - Moose Jaw, Philip Green - Kamloops, Karen Green and David Hetherington - Moose Jaw and their families. May taught school in southern Saskatchewan and Moose Jaw for 9 years, then she and Ian started Paisley 's Drug Store and Flower Shop and were in business for 32 years. They retired and were able to take some wonderful trips. Ian passed away in 1985 and in 1988 she married Charlie and they enjoyed 9 years together. She belonged to the Princess Pat Club, Canadian Club and was a member of the Eastern Star and White Shrine as well as St. Andrew's United Church . After Dad's passing, she was cared for in her home by the devoted caregivers at We Care and Prairie Rose Home Care and for the last 3 years was in Edgar Hall, Providence Place where she also had excellent care. Our gratitude and thanks to all who looked after her over the years, especially Judy Gardiner and Ched Richardson. We have been blessed to have known this elegant lady. A Celebration of May’s life will take place Saturday July 26, 2008 at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel at 1:30pm. Della Ferguson will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery . In living memory of May, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

GERALD TILLEY

Gerald “Gerry” H. Tilley of Moose Jaw, formerly of the Parkbeg District passed away suddenly on Wednesday November 18, 2009 at the age of 92. Gerry is predeceased by his parents, his wife Elsie, son Bruce and one sister. He is survived by Bev (Kenn) Bellerose of Regina, SK; Dr. Sharon Tilley of Victoria, BC: Lowell (Rhondy) Tilley of Sundre, AB; seven grandchildren and one sister, Bonnie Flood of Winnipeg, MB. The Funeral Service will be held at W. J. Jones and Son Chapel on Monday November 23, 2009 at 1:30pm. Della Ferguson will officiate. Royal Canadian Legion Funeral Rights will be conducted by Mr. Roscoe Steele. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Saskatchewan Heart and Stroke Foundation, 455 Fairford St. E. Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1H3. In living memory of Gerry, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

JACK WETHERILL

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Jack Wetherill on Friday, March 21, 2003. Jack was born January 1, 1934 on the family farm. He spent his early years on the farm before earning his heavy duty mechanic certificate from Southern Alberta Tech in Calgary. He was a long time employee of Moose Jaw Eagle Farm Supply. Jack leaves to mourn his wife of thirty-nine years, Sharon and two daughters: Shelley (John Saleski) and Jerleen, also his treasured granddaughter, Tarren Saleski. Jack was predeceased by his father, Norman, mother, Erna, father-in-law, Robert Cherry, mother-in-law, Hilda Cherry, and brother-in-law, Larry Happy. Jack is also survived by four sisters: Jean (Peter Flett), Doreen, Irene, Ann (Bill McEchern) and two brothers: Roy (Teresa) and Neil, as well as sister-in-law, Maureen Happy. Jack was an avid camper, fisherman and wood-worker. He spent many happy hours pursuing these hobbies with close friends, Doug Hallsworth and Dennis Blair. Many thanks are extended to the first responders and hospital staff who worked so conscientiously to help Jack. In keeping with Jack’s wishes, there will be a brief memorial service on Friday, March 28, 2003 at 3:30 pm at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Della Ferguson will officiate. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack’s memory may be sent to the Moose Jaw and District Food Bank. In living memory of Jack, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
