ROBERT EDWARD BOWYER
October 14, 1924 – August 15, 2006

Robert “Bob” Bowyer, age 81, of Moose Jaw, passed away peacefully in Regina on Wednesday, August 15, 2006 with family by his side. Born in Virden, Manitoba to Harry and Ida Bowyer, Bob spent most of his life working in the oil fields in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta for Esso Resources. He retired to Moose Jaw and was active in the Moose Jaw Camping Club and volunteered at the Humane Society and Canadian Mental Health Association. Predeceased by his parents, Bob is survived by his wife, Aline; daughters: Shirley Burton of Winnipeg, Donna Bowyer and Allan Atsu of Moose Jaw, and Joyce Pletz of Swan Hills, Alberta; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The Funeral Service will be held at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel on Friday, August 18, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. Gary Johnson will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, for those so wishing, memorial donations may be directed to the Canadian Mental Health Association, 261 High St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 1S7. In living memory of Robert, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

RODGER CROPP

Rodger Cropp, passed away peacefully in Edmonton on Monday, June 11, 2007, after a lengthy, hard-fought battle with liver disease. Rodger was born in Moose Jaw on March 30, 1946. He is survived by his mother Jean Cropp, sister Marilyn (Jeff), brother Robert (Thelma); his daughter Dana (Bob) Duncan, son Vince (Marti), and grandchildren, Kyle, Allison, and Ryan Duncan; sisters-in-law, Teena (Mark) Kiel, Linda (Brian) Fortman, Bert (Norm) Graham, mother-in-law Doris Buch; and the mother of his children, and friend for life, Helen Cropp; along with many nieces and nephews. Rodger is predeceased by his father Harry Cropp, sons, Kenneth and Kevin, nephew Travis Fortman, and father-in-law Fred Buch. Rodger dedicated his life to his children and grandchildren, and to coaching and teaching other children. Beginning at a young age and for the next 40 years, Rodger enjoyed coaching baseball, hockey, football, track, curling, and cross country running. He taught with the Thunder Creek School Division for 34 years. Rodger also farmed in the Mossbank and Dunkirk areas, learning his love of farming from his father. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Doric Lodge, was Past Associate Grand Guardian of Saskatchewan Job’s Daughters, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Legion. Rodger served for many years on the Moose Jaw Minor Hockey board and was Zone 3 Director for SHA from 1995-99. He loved motorcycles, classic cars, traveling and meeting new friends. The Funeral Service will be held at Zion United Church on Monday June 18, 2007 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Marilyn Keerak and Reverend Grace Armstrong will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Memorials to the Shriner’s Patient Transportation Fund, c/o Wa Wa Temple, 2065 Hamilton St., Regina, S4P 2E1, and for you to consider the gift of life to someone by organ donation, would be appreciated by the family. In living memory of Rodger, a tree has been planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

CLARE YOUNG

CLARE YOUNG (nee: Amberson) late of Moose Jaw, long time resident of the Stoney Beach District passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at the age of 88 years. Clare was born in the Disley district June 19, 1916. She married Albert Young in 1936 and they farmed at Stony Beach for forty years. Predeceased by her parents, sister, Olive and three brothers: Dean, Dave and Norman, Clare will be greatly missed by her sisters: Marg (Harve Doan), Pearl (Jack Woods), Doreen and Levearn, brother, Jack (Janet) and Don Amberson who was raised as a son and his sons: Rodney (Jo) and their family: Billy, Tommy, Raney, Johnny & Ruthy; and Jason, as well as several nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel on Friday, November 12, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at the family plot, Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Providence Place Foundation, 100 2nd Ave. N.E., Moose Jaw, S6H 1B8 would be appreciated. In living memory of Clare, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

SAM SPENDLOW

Mr. Samuel Robert Spendlow of Moose Jaw, passed away April 14, 2005, at the age of 67 years. Sam was born at Boharm on March 26, 1938, later moving to Moose Jaw where he grew up. Sam worked as a contractor at various locations in Saskatchewan. He married Rose Bergen in Saskatoon on September 22, 1962. They raised five children. He is predeceased by his parents, and daughter, Kelly Jo. Sam is survived by his children: Rosanne (Cal) Bowman, Tracey (Jim) Flannery, Tammy Spendlow (Ian Procter) – all of Calgary, Angela (Ryan) Rosenberg – Clavet, and their mother, Rose Spendlow - Calgary; four sisters, Dorise Olson (Harvey Strand), Betty (Lee) Malcolm, Ruth (Doug) Balser and Dorothy (Nick) Wyporowich. A Service of Remembrance will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Monday April 25, 2005 at 1:00 pm. Della Ferguson will officiate. Memorialization will take place at the family plot, Rosedale Cemetery. Memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2, would be appreciated. In living memory of Sam, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

MADGE DAWSON

Madeleine Vivian Dawson (Lowe), long time resident of the Mayberry district, passed away at home on Monday, April 21, 2008 with her family at her side. Madge was born at Pense, SK January 29, 1922 and attended Kenilworth School. In 1942 she came to Moose Jaw to work as a seam presser in various cleaners including Osborne Dry Cleaners, French Dry Cleaners and Sutherland's. Madeleine married Robert Dawson January 31, 1945 and together they moved to the farm in 1948. Madge was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was an avid gardener, loved to square dance, an excellent cook and seamstress. Most of all she enjoyed her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Vivian (Al) Greenwood -Moose Jaw, Gail Dawson, son-in-law Clarence Hack – Victoria; grandchildren: Ryan, Cody (Amy), Tyler (Melissa), Drew (Michelle), Holly, Haley, and Lane Greenwood all of Moose Jaw and Kristian Hack - Victoria, great-grandchildren Allison, Hailey and Riley; sisters Lillian Dagel, and Marian (Don) Brown - Moose Jaw; brothers Edward Lowe - Lucky Lake, and Dave Lowe (Melody) – Drinkwater; sisters-in-law Justine Lowe - Lucky Lake, Elsie Lowe - Regina, Ruby Dawson - Vancouver, and Joyce Larrivee - Gabriola Island; brother-in-law Finn Landgraff; numerous nieces, nephews and family friends. She is predeceased by sister Lucy Farnel, brothers Bob, Phin, Frank and Ken Lowe and special friends Rafe and Audrey Hartley. A Tribute to Mom's life will be held at the Eagle's Club on Sunday, April 27, 2008 from 2 - 4 pm. Special thanks to Dr. VanHeerden, Georgina, Wanda, Teresa, Lew and Mark. Your hugs and tender loving care were appreciated. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer Association, 301-2550 12th Ave., Regina, S4P 3X1, would be appreciated. EDWARD BESPALKO

Edward Bespalko passed away Saturday September 24, 2005. He was born August 8, 1935 in Bengough, SK. He worked a short time for the CPR and then was self employed in construction until ill health forced him to retire. Edward was a very hard working, yet kind hearted and generous man and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He is predeceased by his parents Palahna and Elie Bespalko, his brother Alex, infant brothers Peter and Daniel, brother-in-law Jerry Daw, and sister-in-law Myrtle Bespalko. Edward is remembered by his brother John (Nola), sisters, Lydia (Del) Casselman, Ann (Louie) Deimert, and Violet Daw; many cousins, nieces, nephews, very special chosen grandson Tyler, and many friends. Following cremation, a private family Graveside Service will be held at Rosedale Cemetery. Memorials to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 104, 2301 Ave. C. North, Saskatoon, S7L 5Z5, would be appreciated. In living memory of Edward, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

SCOTT McKENZIE

Scott Currie McKenzie of Moose Jaw, passed away at the Pasqua Hospital, Regina on March 4, 2005 at the age of 43 years. Scott was born May 14, 1961 in Moose Jaw and attended elementary school in Moose Jaw and Wilkie. He graduated from Peacock High School and went on to work at CP Rail for over 21 years. Scott’s interests were golfing, slow-pitch and curling. He especially enjoyed coaching his boys curling team. All who knew him will remember his love of sharing a good joke. Predeceased by his father Hugh McKenzie, father-in-law Alvin Kot, and great-nephew Dillan Kaduhr. He is survived by his wife, Brenda and two sons, Derek and Chadd; his mother, Evelyn McKenzie; sister, Susan Boreen; brother, Ross (Sharon); mother-in-law, Helen Kot; brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church on Thursday March 10, 2005 at 1:30 pm. Father Alex Osei C.S.Sp will be Mass Celebrant. Evening Prayer Services will be held Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel. Cremation, with interment to follow at Sunset Cemetery. Memorials in a trust for Derek and Chadd c/o Conexus Credit Union, 80 High St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 1S3, would be appreciated. In living memory of Scott, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
