DORA SCHICK

DORA ELIZABETH SCHICK passed away peacefully on March 5, 2007 at the age of 84 years. Dora was born at home on the family farm near Spring Valley on November 2, 1922. Dora was a devoted wife to her childhood sweetheart, Anton (Tony). They were married December 30, 1945, on a very cold wintery day. Dora and Tony farmed in the Bayard district until 1986 when they moved to Moose Jaw. They were very active with golfing, bowling, dancing and taking bus tours. Dora also enjoyed gardening and sewing. Predeceased by her parents; brothers: Ernest and Marten Wolf, sister, Adele Middleton, sister-in-law, Magdelina Wolf and two brothers-in-law: Fred Weisman and Wayne Tipton. Left to treasure her memories are her husband of sixty-one years, Tony; their five children: Geraldine (Fred) Rettger, Bernice Harrison, Doug (Debbie), Terry (Kim) and Christine (Dwayne) Hutchinson; twelve beautiful grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sisters: Florence (Alfred) Summerfeld and Irma Tipton, and identical twin sister, Nora Weisman, brother-in-law, Bill Middleton, sister-in-law, Lena Wolf, as well as many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 15 Paul Drive on Friday, March 9, 2007 at 1 p.m. Reverend John Kreutzwieser will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2 or to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, 2550 Broad St., Regina, S4P 9Z9. In living memory of Dora, a tree has been planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

PHINEAS LOWE

PHINEAS EARL LOWE of Swift Current, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully March 21, 2003 at the age of 83 years. At the time of his passing Phin was surrounded by his wife and children. Phin was predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Hazel, daughter, Edith, granddaughter, Deeanne; three brothers: Bob, Frank and Kenneth, and one sister, Lucy. He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-seven years, Irene; his daughters: Evelyn (Bob) Houben, Judith (Roger) Houle, his son, Melvin (Angela) Lowe; two brothers: Edward and David and three sisters: Lillian, Madge and Marion. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. At Phin’s request, there will be no funeral service. A private family memorial service with Royal Canadian Legion Rites will take place at the Veterans Plot, Swift Current Cemetery a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 104-2301 Avenue C North, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, S7L 5Z5. The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of the First Floor of the Moose Jaw Union Hospital, including Dr. Jacobson, Dr. Amies, and all the wonderful nurses, they would also like to thank special friends in Swift Current and Moose Jaw who helped support them through this trying time. Phin was always a vibrant and fun loving person who always had a joke to brighten everyone’s day. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. In living memory of Phin, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

WILMONT (BILL) GILBEY WALLACE
(1914 – 2009)

Bill Wallace of Moose Jaw passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2009 in the Moose Jaw Union Hospital. In earlier years Bill was a farm worker, later working for the Claybank Brick Factory. From 1942 to 1946 he was an Aircrew Mechanic in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He began work with CP Railway in 1947 retiring as a Conductor in 1979. Bill was a life time member of the ANAVETS. Predeceased by his wife, Ella (McCormack), Bill is survived by his children: Terrence (Carol) Wallace and Gregory (Barb) Wallace; grandchildren: Melissa, Tamara, Connie, Curtis and Jamie; great-grandchildren: Kirsten, Kyra, Dayn and Aiden. A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend Dave Moore will officiate. Memorialization will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday evening 7-9 p.m. at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Association, #301 – 2550 – 12th Ave., Regina, S4P 3X1. In living memory of Bill, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

LUELLA FRANCIS

MRS. LUELLA (LUE) FRANCIS of Moose Jaw, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 30, 2003. Lue was born in Moose Jaw. In 1935 she married Harry Francis and the couple farmed in the Clinton district until 1950 when they moved to make their home on the south east outskirts of Moose Jaw. Lue was employed with Thatcher Hardware and for many years worked at Patterson Motors here in Moose Jaw. Lue and Harry enjoyed their Saturday morning garage sales and Lue continued to enjoy and kept busy collecting antiques, buying, selling and collecting. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry in 1995, infant daughter, Dorothy, her brother, Ken Brownlee and sister-in-law, Irene Brownlee. Lue is survived by her sister, Verna (Ray) Wood of Moose Jaw and their daughter, Dorothy, one niece, Jean (Gord) Hudson and their family and one nephew, Orval (Joanne) Brownlee and their family. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 3, 2003 at 1:30 pm in the W. J. Jones& Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Della Ferguson will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Memorials for the Saskatchewan Heart & Stroke Foundation, Box 521, Moose Jaw, Sask., S6H 4P2 would be appreciated. In living memory of Lue, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

NORMA McLAFFERTY

NORMA BERNICE McLAFFERTY (nee: Barry) passed away peacefully in God’s love on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at Pioneer Lodge in Moose Jaw, one month short of her 90th birthday. Born October 11, 1917 on the family farm at Tuxford, Saskatchewan, Norma attended Normal School and dedicated her life to the teaching profession as well as to her family. Predeceased by her father, James Russell Barry, mother, Bertha Barry and husband, Patrick McLafferty, left to cherish her memories are her loving sister, Verna Zimmerman, daughter, Janice (Terry) Rowlinson, son, Barry (Nancy) McLafferty; grandchildren: Bret (Nicole) Rowlinson, Heather Rowlinson and Joshua McLafferty, great-grandchildren: Josie Rowlinson, Brady Rowlinson, Emma Rowlinson and Morgan Rowlinson, as well as a multitude of loving good friends and relatives. A Celebration of Norma’s Life will be held on Monday, September 10, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Linda Owens will officiate. Private memorialization will take place in Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Shriners Hospital for Children, c/o 1755 Main St. N., Moose Jaw, S6J 1L6 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2. In living memory of Norma, a tree will be planted by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

JEAN BEIERLE

Mrs. Jean Beierle, age eighty-eight years of Moose Jaw passed away at Providence Place on November 2, 2004 . Jean was predeceased by her husband Benjamin (Ben) in 1995. At Jeans request there will be no funeral service. Interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery . For those wishing memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. In living memory of Jean Beierle, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

ANNE LATHAM

Anne Latham went gently early Friday morning June 3, 2005 at the age of 91. Anne was born in Moose Jaw December 17, 1913 and made her life here. She will be remembered for her early career in baseball and also for her love of the colour, music and dance of her Ukrainian cultural heritage. For many years she was well known for her involvement in youth sports, community affairs, the labour movement and especially in supporting her political ideals. Anne is predeceased by her parents, William and Polly Moskal and by Cecil, her beloved husband of 35 years. Her bright smile will be sadly missed by her daughter Pat, her granddaughter Megan and grandson-in-law, Jeff; their daughters Leah and Taylor will remember their “GGM”. Anne was much loved by her sister-in-law Peggy Ward and by Drew and Joan, Mark, Brett, and Brook Ward and their children. She is also survived by her sister, Pauline and by her niece Carol. The family would like to express special thanks to Anne’s devoted friend Yogi Weber and his family for loving and loyal support. Sincere thanks also go to caregiver Audra Zolmer, to the staff of St. Anthony’s Wing, Providence Place, and to Dr. A. Beharry for their kindness in Anne’s care. The Funeral Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Friday June 10, 2005 at 1:30 pm. Della Ferguson will officiate. Friends and family are welcome to share reminiscences.
