Ronald Graham Hurrion, of Moose Jaw passed away peacefully January 15, 2008. Ron was born October 27, 1921 in Croydon, England. He grew up in Croydon, and came to Moose Jaw as ordered by the British Air Force and met his wife of 64 years. Ron is predeceased by his wife, Beulah Circe Hurrion; parents Alice and Albert; brothers Cyril, Peter, Leslie, Jim, Jack and Albert; sisters, Peggy and Joan; infant grandchildren; David, Randy and Darren. He leaves to celebrate his life; daughters; Valerie (Harry) Trew, Pamela (Garnet) Peterson, grandchildren; Todd (Sherri), Sheila of Los Angeles, Melissa (John), and Graham, great-grandchildren; Ashleigh, Teanika, Heather, Miranda and Jayden, sister, Winnie; and all his long time friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Brian Sanderson, Dr. Miller and the staff at Moose Jaw Union Hospital who took special interest in caring for him in his time of passing. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 3:30 pm in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Major Don Law will officiate. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday evening 7 – 8 pm at the Funeral Home. ANNIE DOSCH
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Annie Dosch on July 8, 2005, at the age of 85 years. Annie was born on May 5, 1920 near Preeceville, SK and was raised north of Ketchen, SK. She married the love of her life, Stephen Dosch in 1942 at Willow Bunch, SK. They resided there for seven years, moving to Claybank, SK for three years and in 1952 to Moose Jaw, SK. In 1959, their only child Beverly Ann was born. In 1987, Stephen passed away. Annie moved to Spirit River, AB in May 2005, to be close to Beverly, Sheldon and Ian. Predeceased by her parents, husband Stephen, and brothers and sisters-in-law. Annie is survived by her daughter Beverly, son-in-law Sheldon of Spirit River, AB; two grandsons: Stephen (special friend Sheri) of Kindersley, SK and Ian of Spirit River, AB; one sister-in-law, Francis O’Brien, childhood friend, Vivian Satherstrom; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The Memorial Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Wednesday July 27, 2005 at 2:00 pm. Bill Thomson will officiate. Memorialization will follow at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Central Peace Health Complex, Box 339, Spirit River, AB, T0H 3G0, would be appreciated. In living memory of Annie, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. ERNEST YOUNG
Ernest Henry Young, of Moose Jaw, passed away December 14, 2004 at the age of 97 years. Ernie was born in England on October 2, 1907. He enlisted in the Royal Air Force in 1923, retiring in 1949. He served 8 years in the Middle East, two years at Moose Jaw, and also in Germany. Ernie was privileged to be the first lay communion assistant at St. John’s Church in 1979, and was active in several lay ministry duties in the Church for many years. In 1942 Ernie married Hazel Cruden at St. Andrew’s Church in Moose Jaw. He was employed by the Western Oil Co., and also the Gulf Oil Co. in Moose Jaw. Ernie was also a very active volunteer with St. John’s Ambulance for many years. Ernie and Hazel were very proud of their home and always kept their garden well tended, always colorful and attractive. In 1997, Ernie and Hazel moved into Ina Grafton Gage Home. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Hazel in 2000; sisters, Isobel and Kathleen, and brother Alex. He is survived by nephews: Dr. Don Cruden and family of Rockford, Ill; Rev. Ken Tombs, Derek Tombs, and John Tombs and families, all of England. Funeral Services will be held at St. Aiden Anglican Church, 124 First Ave., N.E., on Monday December 20, 2004 at 2:00 pm. Reverend Allen Doerksen will officiate. Cremation will follow with memorialization at Prairie Memorial Columbarium. Visitation for family and friends Sunday evening 7 – 9 pm at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Flowers are gratefully declined, memorials to St. Aiden Anglican Church, or Ina Grafton Gage Home, would be appreciated. JUNE CRAIG
JUNE GLADYS CRAIG passed away suddenly at her home in Moose Jaw on January 2, 2006 at the age of 71 years. June is predeceased by her father and mother, Carl and Tillie Kasensky, two brothers Frank and Pete, and five sisters, Ann, Katarine, Emily, Olive and Dot. She is survived by one brother, Roy (Vi) of Surrey, BC; two sisters, Mary Yule of New York, and Rose Garland of Regina; step-daughter, Donna and family, stepson John and family and many nieces, nephews, and very good friend Bob Jones of Moose Jaw. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Monday, January 16, 2006 at 2 p.m. at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel. Cremation will take place with memorialization at the Tugaske Cemetery later in the spring.
HAROLD CLARK
HAROLD GARFIELD CLARK left us peacefully, on Sunday, February 2, 2003, at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital after a short illness. Harold was born on September 14, 1905 in Owen Sound, Ontario. He moved to the Belle Plaine area with his parents in 1917. Harold completed his high school education in Belle Plaine and when his family returned to Ontario in 1924, Harold, 19, went to Detroit, Michigan where he worked for the Dodge Motor Company. Early in 1926 Harold went to Valparaisio, Indiana where he worked his way through telegraphy school. After graduating he worked for six months for the Central Vermont Railroad, but when harvest time rolled around the lure of the west saw Harold catching a harvest excursion train in Montreal to return to Saskatchewan. On January 1, 1930, he married Doris Whittleton at the Whittleton home south of Belle Plaine. His love of the land and his passion for farming enriched his life, and at the time of his death, he remained an active farmer. He left for his daughter Gail and his grandchildren, Clark, Stacey and Carla a wonderful legacy, his labor of love – his farm! He was predeceased by his parents William and Maude Clark, sister Jean (Pring) and brother-in-law Ben Pring, brother Harry, his wife of 52 years Doris (Whittleton); sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Jean and Jack Scott and Bill and Grace Whittleton. He leaves to mourn, his wife Blanche Wilkie, daughter Gail (Ernie) Coulson; grandchildren Clark (Tara) Coulson and Katie, Stacey (Ward) Edwards and Jordan, Carla (Tom) Hamilton, Aidan and Mattea, as well as a special niece, Marcille (Jack) Cavers and several great-nieces and great-nephews. We ask that friends and family join us in a celebration of Harold’s 97 years at the Sunset United Church, 117 Sunset Drive, Regina at two o’clock on Wednesday, February 5, 2003. Reverend Lori Erhardt will officiate. Burial will follow at the Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Foundation for the Moose Jaw Union Hospital, 455 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 1H3 or to a charity of your choice. DORIS JERRED
Doris Jean Jerred (nee Fraser), beloved wife of Ken, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2004 at the age of 84 years. Doris was born April 20, 1920 in Moose Jaw. Mom/Grandma/Great-Grandmother will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by husband of sixty-six years, Ken; daughter Cheryl of Moose Jaw; son Lynn (Marlene) Jerred of Moose Jaw; grandchildren, Judy of Medicine Hat, AB; Darren of Prince Albert, SK; Cynthia of Calgary, AB; Juliet (Dean) Pattison of Toronto, ON; Laurel (Eric) Hanson of Missoula, Montana; six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Doris is predeceased by her parents, Donald and Annie Fraser, and one sister Margaret Fletcher. In her day, Doris loved to swim, play tennis, and fish, once catching a 17lb fish and winning a trophy. Flower gardening was a passion for many years as well as being an avid knitter, with many beautiful creations. She enjoyed bingo and vacationing in Nevada yearly for some 30 years with husband Ken. Doris worked for Home Care from its inception (22 years), where she made many a friend and acquaintance. As well, Doris had a great love for animals. There will be no Funeral Service. Memorials to the Moose Jaw Humane Society, 1755 Stadacona St. W., (Box 1658), Moose Jaw, S6H 7K7, would be appreciated. In living memory of Doris, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. NEIL MARZOLF
Neil Garnet Marzolf of Central Butte, passed away on September 13, 2003 at the age of 83 years on the farm he was raised on (originally homesteaded by his parents Jacob Marzolf and Ida Olga Schmidt). Neil attended school at Creek Valley. At 16 he travelled to Minnesota for work. In 1939, he moved to California to stay with his Aunt Selma and Uncle Herman for work. In 1941, Neil married Ellen Elizabeth Mainhood after joining the Canadian Armed Forces. Neil’s interests included farming, horse shoes, music, cards, and hockey. In his early years he enjoyed coyote hunting with greyhounds in a Model A. Neil is predeceased by his wife, Ellen Elizabeth Mainhood; children, Terry and Jeannette; parents, Ida and Jacob; brothers, Roy and Ivan; and sister, Olive. He is survived by sisters, Mona Voisey and Viola Parker; children: Merle (Doug) Dicks, Carol May, Ann Stalker, Jerry (Pam) Marzolf, Carmen (Rod) McLachlan, Danny (Teresa) Marzolf, Susan (Hugh) Hand, Harvey (Tracy) Marzolf, Michael (Cindy) Marzolf, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Neil’s dry sense of humour will be sadly missed. A Graveside Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, on Wednesday September 17, 2003 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Doug Shepherd will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Sask. Lung Association, 1231 Eighth St. East, Saskatoon, S7H 0S5, would be appreciated.
