EILEEN LAMB

EILEEN MARIE (OLYNIK) LAMB, age 69, passed away peacefully February 19, 2003 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her parents, Elsie and Peter Olynik; brothers Mack and Stephen and sister Mary. She is survived by George, her loving husband of forty-nine years; her children, Nancy (Roy), Greg (Pat) and Cindy (Alan); her treasured grandchildren Craig, Ryan, Nick, Angela, Jared and Devyn; her sister Verna and brothers John (Pat), Bill (Jill) and Mike (Vivian). Mom was a people person with a true zest for life. She loved to laugh and tell jokes and never lost her sense of humor. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, summers spent camping with Dad, their camping club and their numerous gambling trips. She was a dedicated volunteer with the Cancer Society, Cansurmount and the N.D.P. Throughout Mom’s illness, she maintained her grace and dignity and always placed the welfare and happiness of others above her own. She was a wonderful, caring person who will be truly missed by her entire family and many friends. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2003 at 1:30 pm in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Donna Corthy will be the facilitator. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Moose Jaw Cancer Society. The family wishes to thank the Moose Jaw-Thunder Creek Home Care for all of their compassionate support. In living memory of Eileen, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

VIVIEN GRIFFITH

Vivien Merle Griffith, aged 87, a long term resident of Moose Jaw, died at her home on Sunday, September 16th, 2007, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was born January 26th, 1920 in the town of Strasbourg, Saskatchewan to the late James R.Machan and Phyllis Zena Travis. Her family later moved to Tuxford where she attended Grade School. She went on to graduate from Normal School in Moose Jaw and began teaching at the Punnichy Indian Residential School for two years prior to World War II. During the war, Vivien worked for the Civil Service in various clerical capacities at Caronport SK and Abbotsford BC. In 1948, she was married to Allan E. Griffith of Moose Jaw, the son of George and Daisy Griffith. Vivien was a long term member of St. John's Anglican Church where she also worked for over twenty years as the parish secretary. Vivien is survived by her husband Allan, her son Jerry of Regina; daughter Christine (Brian) Calder of Lumsden; Rory (Dawna Hanley) of Regina; four younger sisters, Norma Bannerman of Airdrie, Margaret "Peggy" Ramage of Airdrie; June Bush of Moose Jaw; and Leslie Wickstrom of St. Albert. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jared Calder of Red Deer, Aynsley Calder, Brynn Griffith and Callan Griffith all of Regina; great-grandchildren, Fynley Calder-Rasmussen, Joshua Calder and Katelyn Calder, plus several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many lifelong friends. A Celebration of Vivien’s life will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Thursday September 20th, 2007 at 1:30 pm. Della Ferguson will be the celebrant. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice. We would like to thank all of the staff of the Five Hills Health Region Palliative Care Services for their kind help and support.

SAMMY KLEIN

Sammy Klein, passed away suddenly on September 24, 2004 at the age of 70 years. Sammy was born on December 7, 1933 at Glenbain, SK, the eldest of eight children. At the age of 6, he moved with his family to Moose Jaw where Sammy attended King George School. He began his painting and wall papering company at the age of 14. By the time he was 21, he had painting crews working all over the province. Sammy met Chick Moore and they were married September 27, 1969. They formed R & G Holdings and worked hard on the revitalizing and development of downtown Moose Jaw. Sammy was actively involved in various community organizations: Lions, Elks, Masons and Shriners, serving as president, chairman and all executive positions within these organizations. He is predeceased by his parents and one sister, Rosella. Sammy is survived by his wife of 35 years, Chick; daughter, Barb (Alvin) – Moose Jaw; Rick (Stella) – Moose Jaw; and Sherrie (Don) – Campbell River, BC; eight grandchildren: Ryan (Gina), Jordan, Tanya (Kevin), Terry, Allison, Andrea, Kada, and Keian; one great-granddaughter, Bryll; two brothers, Ray and Dave; four sisters, Betty, Viola, Ruth, and Dee; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as special family friends, Dr. Hugh McIntyre, Nellie Thompson, and Russ and Aileen McGhie. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church on Tuesday September 28, 2004 at 10:30 am. Della Ferguson will officiate. Family and friends are invited to join the family for lunch at the Shrine Club at 12:00 pm. Interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation Monday evening 7 – 9 pm at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, c/o 1767 Main Street North, Moose Jaw, S6J 1L6, would be appreciated. In living memory of Sammy, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

JUNE HERMAN

JUNE ANITA HERMAN (formerly Park). It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother on June 27, 2003, at the age of 79 years. She came to the Mazenod area after World War II as a bride to Stephen Park (deceased in 1961). They had six children: Bev (Rick), Susan (Wayne), Peter (deceased in 1952), Barry, Doreen (Ron), Grant (Charmaine). She remarried in April 1963 to Walter Herman (deceased 1988) and raised his two boys, David (Donna) and Ron (Trina) as her own. Walter and June had a daughter, Terri (Randy). Leaving to mourn June are her eight children, and twenty-four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, her sister, Pat (Bob), as well as many dear friends. A Celebration of June’s Life will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 15 Paul Drive, Moose Jaw. Reverend Doug Shepherd will officiate. Memorialization will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church. In living memory of June, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

JEAN GETTY

JEAN VIVIAN GETTY (nee FOOTE) passed away in Moose Jaw on Thursday, February 15, 2007. Born March 23, 1907 in Whitchurch Township, York County, Ontario, Jean came to a farm in the Tuxford district at the age of three months. She attended Marlborough school, Central Collegiate and graduated with distinction in Mathematics from the University of Saskatchewan in 1928. She then obtained a teacher’s certificate and an actuarial certificate from the University of Manitoba. She was the cashier at the T. Eaton Company in Moose Jaw for five years before her marriage. Joe and Jean farmed in the Archydal district. Jean continued to farm after Joe’s death in 1957 and retired to Moose Jaw in 1979. Bridge was her passion. She played her last game at Chez Nous on February 5. Predeceased by her parents, Herbert and Ethel, husband, Joseph; brothers: Robert, John and Harold; sisters: Ruth and Doris, and son-in-law, Gilbert. Jean is survived by daughters: Anne (Arthur) Stow – Moose Jaw, and Joan Cherry – Waterloo, Ontario; grandchildren: Deane Stillar – Calgary, David (Romona) Stillar – Cochin, David Cherry (Bridget Mallon) – Ottawa and Andrea Cherry (John Buckle) – Ottawa, and great-grandchildren: Seanne, Noah, Riley, Owen, Finnegan and Aurora. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Della Ferguson will officiate. Private family memorialization will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2 or to a charity of your choice. In living memory of Jean, a tree has been planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

JACK CLEMENS

John Alexander Clemens passed away peacefully on September 14, 2006 at his home in Moose Jaw. Jack was born in Moose Jaw May 9, 1924. He will be missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Olga “Ollie” Clemens; as well as his children: Barry (Brenda) – Lumsden, Glenn (Wendy) – Calgary, Jacquie (Wayne) White – Oak Bluff, MB; grandchildren: Jody (Bryan) Eyolfson, Taylor Douglas (Tegan Marshall), Shelby Clemens, Dwayne White, Courtney White; and one great-grandson, Kade Eyolfson; as well as two brothers, Roy Clemens – Kelowna, BC and Earl Clemens – Maple Ridge, BC; two sisters, Phyllis Clemens, and Pat Green – Moose Jaw; and extended family. Jack was proud to serve his country in the RCAF during World War II and a life-long member of the Masonic Lodge. He farmed in the Caron area until 1963. Jack and Ollie moved to Yorkton, and then returned to Moose Jaw where he was employed by Agriculture Canada. Grandpa Jack loved to spend time with his grandchildren and share his love of horses, cars, and airplanes. A Celebration of Jack’s life will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., on Tuesday September 19, 2006 at 1:30 pm. Reverend John Carley will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Parkinson Society 108B – 3502 Taylor St. E., Saskatoon, S7H 5H9, would be appreciated. In living memory of Jack, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

CLIFFORD CHURCH

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of CLIFFORD DELBERT CHURCH. He passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2004 in his home surrounded with the love of his daughters and dedicated caregivers. Clifford was born on May 14, 1910 in Hinton, Iowa and was the youngest of six children born to his parents Mabel and Del Church. His mother returned to Canada after the tragic death of her husband and settled in the Aylesbury district with her family in June 1911. Mabel married Elmo Johnson in 1914. Cliff attended Watkins school in the Aylesbury district until 8th grade. His mother died when he was fourteen and being very lonely be spent a lot of time with his aunts and uncles. He worked in the Aylesbury district as a hired hand. In December 1933 he married Ida Leighton. Cliff worked at various jobs until 1952 when he returned to work for R.B. McLeod as Superintendent of water and sewer construction. He worked in many communities in Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba in this capacity. Ill health forced Cliff to retire at age fifty-eight. Cliff and Ida moved into their daughter’s yard at Buffalo Pound Lake where they spent many wonderful summers and wintered with Darlene at Parksville. This allowed them to have a close, loving relationship with all of their grandchildren. Cliff was predeceased by an infant son in 1942, his loving wife, Ida in 1992, granddaughter, Tracey (Difley) Hoium in 1991 and a grandson, Birk Emes in 1991. After Ida passed away Cliff moved into Timothy Eaton Gardens where he thoroughly enjoyed living and where he remained until his passing. He will be greatly missed and forever loved by his daughters: Mabel Difley of Moose Jaw and Darlene (Gerry) Emes of Qualicum Beach, B.C.; his grandchildren: Brent (Shari) Difley, Tara (Jeff) Leicht, Morgan (Christina) Emes, Dane (Angie) Emes and Joel (Candace) Emes; his great-grandchildren: Jordan Hoium, Tyler and Bryce Difley, Cole and Madelynne Emes and Chloe and Meryn Emes. He is also survived by three half sisters, Ione (Johnson) Ward, Verna (Johnson) Clark, Vera (Johnson) Fiegehen, niece, Doris (Bruce) Winter and nephew, Bud Church. He is also survived by nieces: Pearl Zoerb, Stella Landers, Monetta Migadel, Vera Harrison, Norma Wakefield and nephew, Jesse Shields. We are very grateful for the tender, loving care provided by Donna and Fon during the past year and also to all the Home Care Staff for their kindness, care and concern over the years. Without all of you we could not have honored his wish to spend his final days at home. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw. Della Ferguson will officiate. Interment will be made at the family plot, Chamberlain Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Moose Jaw & District Senior Citizens Association, 101 510 Main St. N., Moose Jaw, S6H 3K3, Chamberlain Cemetery Fund, Chamberlain, SK., S0G 0R0, or to the Five Hills Health District (Home Care Division), 455 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 1H3. In living memory of Clifford, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
