EVELYN BURNIS STINSON (VOLD) passed away peacefully on July 17, 2005 at Pioneer Lodge at the age of 91 years. She was the first daughter born to Oscar and Mary Vold. She had four brothers and one sister. Evelyn was raised and received her education at Ernfold. She loved sports, especially baseball. Everyone said she had a mean pitching arm, however she could not run the bases. She had been crippled with Polio in 1918. Her brother Ken was also stricken with Polio at the same time. In 1939 Evelyn moved to Moose Jaw with her parents and has lived here until her passing. Evelyn took a course in secretarial and short hand and worked for The National Fruit Company in Moose Jaw for fifteen years before retiring. Evelyn met and married Sydney Stinson in 1950 and although they had no children, they more than made up with numerous nieces and nephews and were well known to all. She loved to travel country-wide, especially flying. Evelyn loved her birds and especially her cat, Mo-Jo. Predeceased by her husband, Sid in 1990, sister, Doris in 1927, Harvey in 1945, her father in 1946, Maurice in 1976, Ken in 1979, her mother, Mary and eldest brother, Fred in 1985. The Funeral Service will be held at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel on Thursday, July 21, 2005 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Betty Bradley will officiate. Interment will follow at the Sunset Cemetery. In living memory of Evelyn, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
PEARL COCHRAN
PEARL N. COCHRAN of Moose Jaw, passed away May 13, 2006 at the age of 91 years. Born in Minneapolis to James and Nellie Anderson who at that time resided on a homestead near Richmond, Saskatchewan. In 1927 the family moved to Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan where Pearl attended school at New Bank Elementary and Lucky Lake High School. In 1936 she attended Normal School in Saskatoon and following that taught at New Bank for five years. In 1942 Pearl came to Moose Jaw where she taught at Westmount for thirty-seven years. In 1960 she married Harry Cochran who predeceased her in 1981. She was also predeceased by her mother in 1952, step-mother in 1967, her father in 1980, and a brother, Marvin in 1996. Pearl is survived by a step-daughter, Linda and family in Vancouver, one sister, Muriel Rogness and family in the Lucky Lake area as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives in the United States. A Graveside service will be held on Friday, May 19, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the Rosedale Cemetery. Della Ferguson will officiate. Those wishing to attend may join the cortege at the Jones Funeral Home at 1:40 p.m. In living memory of Pearl, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
PATRICIA ANDERSON
Patricia Joan passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on September 21, 2007. Patricia was born in Moose Jaw July 14, 1943. She is predeceased by her father and mother, Eric and Edna Smith and brother Donald Smith. She will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Stu, daughter Beverly (Wayne) Paysen and their daughter Nicole; brother Garnet (Barb) Smith, sister-in-law Donna Smith; step-children Mark (Sheryl) Anderson and their children Brody and Chelsea, Janice (Stephen) Gaunt and their children David and Janelle; mother-in-law Alto Anderson, brother-in-law Vernon Anderson, sister-in-law Norma Gieni-Dunbar (Chris); many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that were very near and dear to her. Patricia started working for the Moose Jaw Co-op at age sixteen and she was a very loyal and dedicated employee until her early retirement at age fifty-five. Patricia volunteered countless hours to her many causes and beliefs and was known for her unlimited supply of energy. She was an active member of O.E.S., Grandview United Church and Ina Grafton Gage Auxiliary. She brought joy to everyone she met. A Service to Celebrate Pat’s life will be held at Minto United Church on Tuesday September 25, 2007 at 1:30 pm. Reverend John Carley will officiate. Memorialization will take place at the family plot, Rosedale Cemetery. Memorials to the Five Hills Palliative Care Program, 455 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 1H3, would be appreciated. LILY VIRTUE
Lily Marie Virtue (nee Straub) of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, passed away on February 7, 2009, at 96 years of age. Lily was predeceased by her husband, George Virtue, in 1999, father Phillip Straub in 1947, mother Caroline Straub in 1985, son-in-law Don Tregidgo, great-grandchildren Devon Tregidgo and Vanessa Whitby, brothers Edward and Charlie, sister Caroline Minto, sister Esther four days prior to Lily’s passing, as well as many sisters and brothers-in-law. She is survived by her daughter Evelyn Tregidgo, son Alvin, son Ron (Elizabeth) and daughter Ruth (Clifford) Lough, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, sisters Clara Craig, Anne Trower, Vi Whetstone and sisters-in-law, Anne Kellough, Hilda Virtue, and Helen Virtue - Bristol, England. Lily was born on July 23, 1912, in Vernon, B.C. As a young child she moved with her family to Hodgeville. Then in 1928 the family moved to the Tuxford district. She married George Virtue on October 29, 1938, in Tuxford where they farmed and raised their family. On retirement they moved to Moose Jaw. When Lily lived at Golden Sunset Care Home and Oxford Place, she always called the management and staff her “angels”, saying how lucky she was to have the best of care. She was known for her wittiness, generosity, and forgiving nature. A Celebration Tea will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Family Centre, 262 Athabasca St. E., on Thursday February 12, 2009 from 2 – 4 pm. At 2:30 pm the introduction of Lily’s family and a brief prayer will take place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
RONALD MYERS
DAVID RONALD MYERS passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2005 with his family by his side, at the age of 76 years. Ron was born at the family farm near Vantage on July 4, 1928. After 25 years of Service in the Air Force he fulfilled his dreams of owning his own business and working on the cars he loved so much. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Predeceased by his mother Fredricka, father William, step-mother Alma, brother Emanuel, sister Elsie and brother-in-law Rudolph Krieg, Ron is survived by his loving wife Mary, son David and three grandchildren: Brady, Allison and Kendra, sister-in-law Lillian Myers of Assiniboia and many other family members and close friends. A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw on Friday, March 11, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Barry Gammie will officiate. Army, Navy & Air Force Veteran’s Funeral Rite will be conducted at the Chapel by Dave Eamon. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. ALICE WINCHESTER
Alice M. Winchester, born September 7, 1909 on the farm at Tugaske, passed away quietly at Extendicare in Moose Jaw November 22, 2006. She was predeceased by her husband, John, December 14, 2001. Alice was raised at Tugaske and received her education there. She married John in 1935 and continued to reside on a farm in the district, retiring to the village of Tugaske in 1974. Mom was a lifetime member of St. Andrew’s United Church of Tugaske and U.C.W. She was also a member of both Eastern Star and Rebekah Lodges until their closing. In her early years she was active in sports, ball, skating and curling. As a senior, Mom loved to play cards with family and friends at home and the Do Drop In. She had a special group of friends she played scrabble with. Mom participated in the Senior Games of Saskatchewan and even won ribbons with her friend, Elsie. She was a part of many organizations in the community throughout her lifetime and was always willing to help out. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by son, Donald (Nora) and daughter, Margaret Ann (Al); six grandchildren: John (Debbie), Stephen (Joan), Teresa (Mel), Tony, Monica (Ken) and Richard (Jeannette); eleven great-grandchildren: Peter, Kaiti, Christopher, Virginia, Matthew, Brittini, Rebecca, Robert, Joshua, Jenna, Brett and Brittany, and two great-great-grandchildren: Ava and Damian; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other close relatives and friends. A Graveside Service will take place on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at 1p.m. at Tugaske Cemetery. A Service of Remembrance will follow at 2 p.m. in the Tugaske Community Hall. Reverend Rick McCorrister will officiate. For those so wishing, memorial donations may be directed to St. Andrew’s United Church of Tugaske (General Fund). MAE ROBERTSON
Mrs. Mae Olive Robertson (Johnson) passed away on Friday July 18, 2003 at the age of 89 years. Mae was born at Mossbank on October 24, 1913. She was a member of St. Andrews United Church, the P.E.O and the order of the Eastern Star. She was predeceased by her husband Alex in January 2003, her parents; Rosa Amelia and Axel Johnson; brothers: Dennis, Roy, Chester and Oliver, a sister, Adella Armstrong. Mae is survived by her son, Grant (Sharon) and granddaughter, Shannon, brother, Lorne (Betty), sister, Joy (Richard) Bayley and many nieces and nephews. In keeping with Mae’s wishes there will be no funeral services. Cremation will take place and memorialization will take place at Rosedale cemetery at a later date.
