Mrs. Winnifred “Winnie” (Parkhill) Lychak of Moose Jaw and formerly of the Baildon district passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at the age of 96 years. Born in Tugaske July 20, 1910, she received her education in Moose Jaw becoming a teacher at Mossbank, City View, and Tilney School Districts. She married Edward Parkhill in 1936 and in 1980 married Joseph Lychak. Winnie was involved in many activities such as playing cards, reading, knitting, dancing and also loved to travel. She missed not being able to attend church services regularly for the past couple of years. Winnie was Past Grand Mistress of the Orange Lodge of Saskatchewan and a member of Timothy Eaton Gardens Centre. Predeceased by her husbands, Edward and Joe; parents, Albert & Emily Levy, stepfather, Wilmer Judkins; sons: Edwin, Robert, and Lee (Grace), and her grandson, Mike, she is survived by her daughter, Betty (Don) Wilder – Moose Jaw district, son, Gerald (Irene) Parkhill – Chilliwack, BC, daughter-in-law, Phyllis and family – Seattle; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and special friends. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw. Pastor John McCubbing will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Memorials for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 150 Albert Street, Regina, S4R 2N2 or to the Stadacona Gospel Chapel, 68 Stadacona St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 1Z1 would be appreciated. KATHY CLAYPOOL
Kathy Anne Claypool of Regina, SK. passed away suddenly at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital on Monday, January 8, 2007 at the age of 53 years. She is survived by her beloved son, Brenden (Ivy) Claypool of Regina; brother Ronald (Susan) Lamb of Saskatoon; sister Darla (Dan) Cornish of Moose Jaw; one nephew, Garra Cornish of Calgary; and numerous relatives and friends. Kathy was predeceased by her parents William (1993) and Katherine (2006) Lamb of Moose Jaw. She attended King Edward School and Riverview Collegiate, as well as STI in Moose Jaw, where she graduated with honours. After working for many years at SaskTel, she recently took early retirement. Kathy was a very intelligent person with a good sense of humour who greatly enjoyed her career. A loving mother and a compassionate person, she had a profound positive effect on all who knew her. Funeral services will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Thursday January 11, 2007 at 1:30 pm. Della Ferguson will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. ROLAND VESEY
Roland Vesey passed away on November 23, 2009 in Phoenix, AZ while holidaying with his daughter. He was born October 6, 1915 in Shamrock RM, SK, one of 9 children. Roland served in the Armed Forces for 4 years and then moved to California where he operated a Safeway Store and a Seven Eleven for 40 years. When his first wife passed away he moved back to Saskatchewan to Moose Jaw where he resided until his passing. He was president of the Canadian Legion while living in California and was invited to meet the Queen and Prince Phillip. He was a life member of the Legion. Predeceased by his first wife, Laura (Hildebrand), second wife Blanche (Groth), he is survived by his wife Phyll (Low) (Sawin) of Moose Jaw, son Donald (Teddi) Vesey of Quail Valley, California, daughter, Janice (Rich) Tamburro of Sun City West, Arizona, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, brother, Duane (Eleanor) Vesey of Shamrock; two sisters, Carol Riecken of Davidson and Joyce Idt of Hodgeville; brother-in-law, Butch (Barb) Sawin of Mossbank and seven step-children, as well as many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Tea will be held at Timothy Eaton Gardens in the Card Room and Lounge on Friday November 27, 2009 from 2 to 4 pm with a short service at 3:00 pm. Interment will be held at a later date in California. In lieu of flowers, donations to Timothy Eaton Gardens 510 Main Street North, Moose Jaw, S6H 3K3 or Hospice of Arizona, 2222 West Northern Avenue, Suite (A - 100), Phoenix, Arizona, 85021 would be greatly appreciated. MYRTLE GRANGE
With great sadness the family announces the death of Myrtle May Grange. Born February 10, 1918 in England, Myrtle peacefully passed away surrounded by family on February 13, 2003 in Moose Jaw. Myrtle moved to Canada with her family as a small child. She grew up on the family farm and her married life was spent on the farm, being a busy, helpful farm wife. Myrtle had a great love for growing things and flowers were her specialty. Out of the dry prairie soil she was able to cultivate wonderful flower gardens. She continued with this hobby well into her eighties until ill health prevented it. Myrtle was also talented at sewing, painting, knitting and especially crocheting. But her special love was for her family. Each grandchild has a special meaning for her and she was very proud of them. As the Great Grandchildren came she was so happy and shared in the joy of their birth and loved their visits. Myrtle will be sadly missed and remembered. Heartfelt thanks go to the staff at Providence Place for their tender care. Predeceased by her first husband Fred, her second husband Harold, her parents William and Lydia Drullette, a great grandson; Dawson Petersen, a brother Bill and sister Cecily. She leaves to mourn her daughter; Ardelle (Dennis) Petersen – Moose Jaw, three sons: Arnold (Carol) Fenner – Moose Jaw, Leroy (Kate) Fenner – Penticton, B.C.; Ray (Bev) Fenner – Calgary, Alberta. Eleven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren, two sisters: Edith (Ben) Rushiensky – Regina, Beulah (Chester) Nechiporenko – Moose Jaw and one brother; Clarence Drullette – Weyburn. VELMA BRUCE
VELMA EVELYN BRUCE of Moose Jaw, formerly of Limerick, Saskatchewan departed this life on Tuesday, August 1, 2006. Velma was born July 16, 1908 in Ottawa, Ontario, and as an infant came with her family, by train, to the Limerick District. Velma married Andrew P. Bruce in 1952 and the couple farmed in that district until moving to Moose Jaw. Predeceased by Andrew, her loving husband of twenty-five years, her parents Robert and Ann Sweet and five sisters and three brothers. Velma is survived by her nieces, nephews and their families, as well as many close friends. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 4, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw. Margaret Foley will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday (this evening), 7:30-9 p.m. at the Funeral Home. LYNDA MARIE ANDERSON (Nee: Merrifield) (1953-2005). After a short, courageous battle with breast cancer surrounded by loving family and friends, our dear wife, mother, grandma, sister, and friend left our world for another on May 5, 2005. She leaves behind her loving husband, Willie, her daughter, Breigh (Rob) McDavid, her son, Scott, her precious grandson, Rhys McDavid; brothers: Lyle (Donna) Merrifield and Stan (Maureen) Merrifield, as well as many nieces, nephews and dear, dear friends and family. A Celebration of Lynda’s Life will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw. Della Ferguson will officiate. Memorialization will take place at a later date. MARY KERGAN
Mary Cecelia (Cross) Kergan passed away Wednesday August 15, 2007. Mary was born April 30, 1914 in Moose Jaw. She married Bill Kergan and they were together for 61 years. Mary was employed on an assembly line for aircraft in Fort William during WWII. Upon her return to Moose Jaw, she was a hairdresser in a few different locations before becoming employed at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital until her retirement. Mary is predeceased by her husband Bill in 2004; her father (WWI) 1917, her mother in 1957, two brothers Art and Bill; and a sister Dione. She is survived by sister-in-law, Ruth Kergan, and many special nieces and nephews including, Jack, Kelly and Guy Kergan, Kerry Mortenson, Holly Wandell, Doris Wakefield, and Don Lehr. A genuinely loving individual to all, Mary cared for many family members and was a special mother figure to all her nieces and nephews. The Funeral Services will be held at St. Aidan Anglican Church, 124 First Ave. N.E., on Tuesday August 21, 2007 at 2:00 pm. Reverend Allen Doerksen will officiate.
