It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, brother, son, uncle, nephew and friend. At the age of 48, after a short battle with cancer, Bob passed away at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital, with his family by his side. Bob is dearly loved and remembered by his three daughters: Celina (23), Jacquie and Melanie (20); mother, Elsie; two brothers and two sisters: Don (Velma), Thelma (Ken), Peggy (Neil), and Allan (Brenda), as well as numerous family members and friends. He is predeceased by his father, Walter. Bob worked for Agricore United for 29 years and will be greatly missed. He enjoyed curling and participated in the Men’s Legion Dominion Playdowns in PEI. Bob was a great friend and was always there for anyone who needed him. Bob will truly by missed, but never forgotten. A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held at St. Andrew's United Church, 60 Athabasca St. E., on Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at 1:00 pm. Della Ferguson will officiate. Memorialization will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2, would be appreciated. LENA LYS
LENA LYS (nee Anaka) was born at Gorlitz, Saskatchewan to John and Mary Anaka on January 25, 1918. She passed away peacefully on August 23, 2005 with her family by her side. Lena came to Moose Jaw on October 29, 1939. She married Urban Lys on June 8, 1941. Urban predeceased Lena on March 2, 1965. She leaves to mourn, her daughter, Linda (Bob) Biss of Radville, Saskatchewan and grandchildren: Dawn, Scott, Jeff and Michael. She also leaves to mourn, one sister, Mary Koshman, special friend, Anne Romanuk, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lena’s life was lived serving others. She was satisfied with a simple life, treasuring her family, friends, garden, crocheting, knitting, sewing and cooking, especially perogies. A Celebration of Lena’s life will be held at the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Assumption on Saturday, August 27, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. Father Yurij Lazurko will preside. An evening prayer service will be held Friday, August 26 at 7:00 p.m. at the Church. Father Leonard Romanow will officiate. LORETTE CANTELON
On Tuesday, February 25, 2003, our Lord took home LORETTE LYDIA CANTELON. Awaiting there were husband, Leonard Cantelon, 1997; her parents, Arnold Meginbir, 1989, Lydia Maginbir, 2001, and infant brother, Gerhardt Meginbir, 1947. Lorette was born April 7, 1936 in Valor, Saskatchewan and is lovingly remembered by her children: Gina Cena (Jeff) of Edmonton, AB, Garry Tonita (Lucy) of Alberta Beach, AB, Glen Tonita (Cheryl) of Pilot Butte, SK, Iris Todd (Murray) of Edmonton, AB, and Len’s son, Gregg Cantelon of Toronto, ON; grandchildren: Erin Nelson, Jill Nelson, Shawn Tonita, Jake Tonita, Jesse Tonita and Megan Cena; brother, Leon Meginbir (Anne) of Mazenod, SK; sisters: Ruth Rice (Wendell) of Beaverlodge, AB, Irene Peters (Walter) of Calgary, AB; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Eva Lowe of Moose Jaw, Marie and Lee Soparlo of Assiniboia, Dora Hordenchuk of Assiniboia, Steve and Peggy Tonita of Prince Albert and Dian Tonita of Regina as well as numerous other relatives and friends. DORA PAULSON
Dora Irene Paulson of Moose Jaw, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2003. Dora loved dancing and her stuffed teddy bears and animals. Predeceased by her parents, she is survived by sister, Mary (Robert) Bender; her nieces, one nephew; as well as special friends, Marlene Borthwick and Linda Yost. Following Cremation, a private graveside committal service will take place at a later date. Memorials to the Salvation Army, 175 First Ave. N.E., Moose Jaw, S6H 0Y9, would be appreciated. AGNES WARD
AGNES WARD (nee Nelson) of Moose Jaw passed away peacefully at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital on December 26, 2003 at the age of 81 years. Agnes was born December 25, 1922 at her parents homestead in the Grainland District of Saskatchewan. She left the homestead at age fifteen to work as a housekeeper and nanny in Moose Jaw. In 1942 Agnes married Stanley A. Ward, settled in Moose Jaw and dedicated herself to her family and the raising of four sons. Agnes was a longstanding member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Rebekah Lodge and the Eagles. She loved horses and dogs, gardening, playing darts, bingo and socializing with family and friends. Agnes was predeceased by her husband Stanley in 1967 and son William in 1999, as well as partners Kelly Silverthorne in 1985 and Henry Martin in 1998. She was also predeceased by her twelve brothers and sisters: Inga, Lena, Nellie, Albert, Guy, Gena, Clarence, John, Esther, May, Raymond and twin sister Doris. Agnes will be deeply missed by her daughter-in-law Patricia Ward and sons: Kenneth (Patsy), Gerald (Denise) and David, and her grandchildren: Cheryl, Steven, Brenda, Theresa, Christopher, Rodney, Aaron, Ashley and Tyler, as well as eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She will also be fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews and many loving friends. Agnes was a truly kind and gentle spirit who accepted and loved unconditionally. Her incredible strength and courage was evident in her unshakable warm and positive way. Her quiet good natured humour and teasing expressed her warmth and love for others. She took great joy in helping and showing kindness to those around her, and yet was a being of complete humility. Agnes was a genuine Sweetheart – who will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw. Pastor Doug Shepherd will officiate. Interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will take place Tuesday evening, 7-9 p.m. at the Funeral Home. RONAN HUGHTON
RONAN JAMES HUGHTON, son of Christine and John Hughton, brother of Elspeth, Dougald and Bryden, passed away peacefully in his parents arms on October 11, 2004. Ronan was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on June 27, 1999. Predeceased by his brother John Callum, Grandpa Dan, Grandma Gwen, and cousin Sarah, Ronan is survived by his loving Mom and Dad, sisters Elspeth and Bryden, brother Dougald, Great-Grandma Nim, Grandpa Jack, Grandma June, Aunts and Uncles: Andrea & Peter, Betty Anne & Doug, Danny & Liz, Robbie & Terry, Barbara & Iain, cousins: Mark, Andrew, Caitlin, Dan Geordie, Cairistin, Aislinn, Chance, Liam, Eilidh, Ruaridh and Duncan. Funeral Mass for Ronan will be Celebrated in Moose Jaw at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 Third Ave. NW on Monday October 18 at 2:00 p.m. Father Michael Conteh C.S.Sp. will be Mass Celebrant. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. HOWARD MOSER
Howard John Moser passed away suddenly on the morning of May 2, 2008 at the age of 52. He was predeceased by his mother Alice Jean in March 1964, his father William April 2, 1996, and his brother-in-law Stan Weinbender December 3, 2007. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Anne, his son William Christopher Dean (fiancé Rena Little); daughters Melissa Ann, and Teresa (Cory) Wheeler and their son Bailey Richard Howard. He also leaves to mourn his sisters, Grace (Jack) Swanson, Shirley (Gary) Whitt, and Clair Weinbender, and their families, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Howard was born on the family farm on April 5, 1956 and received his schooling at Morse. After graduating, he went to work with his Dad on the family farm and also kept very busy with his construction work. Howie was also a member of the Lions Club for a number of years. He loved playing crib and visiting with friends around the “round” table and hunting for arrowheads. He had a very extensive collection of artifacts. Howie loved his children and would tell them stories of when he was a child. He loved to fish and often took his son, nephew and friends with him, Ernie and Dan to name a few. Howie worked on crossword puzzles and read book after book on history and on how things were made. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. A Celebration of Howie’s life was held on Tuesday May 6, 2008 at the Morse Community Hall. Jack Weppler acted as Master of Ceremonies. Following the Service, family and friends were invited to the farm for a lunch and to share memories. Donations in Howie’s memory may be made to the Morse Museum.
