ELSIE DUNN

Surrounded by her loving family, ELSIE ANN DUNN of Providence Place completed her life’s journey on Tuesday, August 9, 2005. She was predeceased by her husband Charlie (1979), son-in-law Walter Shreeves (1979), brother Alex Zaretsky (1981), grandson Brent Mason (1982), sister-in-law Dorothy Zaretsky (1989) and son Lloyd (2001). Left to cherish her memories are her two daughters Shirley Shreeves-Maertens (George) and Marilynn Yanick (Tony) – both of Regina; daughters-in-law: Mickey Dunn of Oshawa and Willene Dunn of Brampton, Ont.; three sisters: Nellie Grokovich and Bette McKee of Moose Jaw and Marion Dykun (Pete) of Pelly, Saskatchewan, eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Elsie was born in Vita, Manitoba and moved with her parents and younger siblings to Arran, Saskatchewan where her parents began farming. She attended school and later worked at various occupations in this area. In 1928 she married Charles Wesley Dunn and together they travelled to and worked in various parts of Canada. In 1954 Elsie and Charlie settled in Moose Jaw where they raised their children. Throughout her life Elsie remained a vibrant, caring individual who loved and was extremely proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed the company of others and always greeted her company with a smile and a hug! She enjoyed life to the fullest and along with sisters Bette and Nellie was very active in the community and enjoyed dancing, bowling, Bingo and playing cards. She was a past member of the Cosmo Senior Centre and XYZ Club. Elsie’s family would like to take this opportunity to express their sincere appreciation for the tender loving care provided by the wonderful staff of St. Anthony’s Unit of Providence Place. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel. Rev. Allen Doerksen will officiate. Interment will follow at the Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saskatchewan Heart & Stroke Foundation, or to the Arthritis Society. In living memory of Elsie, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

HOWARD EVES

Howard Eves, age 85, of Moose Jaw, passed away suddenly on Sunday September 17, 2006. Howard was born in Keswick, Ontario, moving with his family to Saskatchewan, eventually settling in Moose Jaw. Howard’s loves of life included farming, driving school bus, square dancing and a good game of bridge. After retirement, he added golf and bowling to his life’s passions. One of Howard’s fondest memories was buying Hazel’s lunch at a Valentine Box Lunch Social at Belbeck, SK. This was the start of a blossoming romance. Howard is survived and will be missed by his wife Hazel, of 57 years; his children: Dennis – Maple Ridge, BC, Gladys (Jack) Watson – Regina, Carolyn (John) Kwong - Regina, and Janet (Gordon) Walker – Edmonton; grandchildren: Derrick (Rhonda), Paul (Sarah), David (Janice) Eves; Michelle (Derek) Henry and Devin Watson; Janelle, Jarett, Jolyn, and Jayla Kwong; great-grandchildren: Chelisa, Nolan, Cassandra, Alexander, and Gabriel; one brother, Gordon (Irma) and two sisters, Doreen Rogers and Myrtle (Raymond) Sapp; as well as numerous other relatives. A Celebration of Howard’s life will be held at Minto United Church, 1036 Seventh Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw, on Thursday September 21, 2006 at 1:30 pm. Reverend John Carley will officiate. Private family interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Minto United Church General Fund, would be appreciated. In living memory of Howard, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

WINNIFRED JEAN GREEN (TORDIFF)
AUGUST 6, 1918 - APRIL 29, 2007

Winnifred Jean Green (Tordiff) passed away peacefully Sunday April 29, 2007 at the age of 88 years. She is predeceased by her parents Alonzo and Mildred Tordiff, sister Alma Rainsley, niece Karen Rainsley, great grandchild Christopher Cameron, and her husband William (Bill) in 1994. Winnie was born in Lemsford, Sask. in 1918, attended Normal School in Moose Jaw for teacher training and later graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Arts, with honours in English Literature. During World War I, Winnie taught school in several rural communities in Saskatchewan. After the war, Winnie and Bill married and returned home to Moose Jaw from Clinton, Ontario to begin a family and a long life of farming, teaching and community service. Winnie as she was lovingly known, could often be found doing a variety of things in her kitchen baking biscuits or Christmas pudding, sitting near her sewing machine sewing Barbie doll clothing for her grand daughters to play with when they came to visit, knitting mitts, scarves and hats for her grandchildren, and reading alone or to her grandchildren. Winnie loved telling of her childhood and her children childhood always captivating the attention of her grandchildren. Winnie, a loving and caring Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, will be missed by her loving children, Barry (Janice) Green, Elleda (Wayne) McBride, Cathy (Ian) Cameron and will forever hold a special place within the hearts of her grandchildren, Jason (Cindy), Carrie, Robbie and Daylin, Cynthia (Dan), Michael (Crystal), Kevin and Chantal, Chantel and Jamie. Her memory will live on in her great grandchildren, Austin, Bradley, Caitlyn, Jeremy, Andrew, Jayda, Breigh, Sydney, Jared, Rayanna, Ashlee, Autumn, and Xander. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Following cremation, a Service of Remembrance will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Saturday May 5, 2007 at 1:30 pm. Reverend John Carley will officiate. Memorialization will take place privately at Prairie Memorial Columbarium at a later time. Flowers are gratefully declined, memorials to a charity of choice would be appreciated. In living memory of Winnie, a tree has been planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

HERMAN HALLBORG

HERMAN JOHN HALLBORG, first born child of Elsie and Elmer Hallborg in Uren, Saskatchewan, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2005. Herman attended Rochdale School at Ernfold, Saskatchewan where he later met Berthina Flack. He moved to Guelph, Ontario to work at the John Deere plant. In 1941 Berthina joined him and the couple married and had their first child, Grant in 1944. In 1946 they moved back to Aquadell, Saskatchewan where their daughter, Heather was born. In 1947 they moved to the Flack family farm where they lived and farmed until 1974. Their youngest child, Dennis was born in 1952. Upon selling the farm, Berthina and Herman moved into Moose Jaw. Shortly after Herman started to work for Nelson Bode John Deere Dealership where he excelled in Sales throughout Southern Saskatchewan. He retired in 1989. Berthina suffered with Alzheimer’s disease for many years. Herman visited her daily in Providence Place. Predeceased by Berthina, his wife of fifty-nine years in 2000, Herman is survived by his son, Grant (Pat) and their family: Brett (Debbie), Pam (Chad) and Jeff; daughter, Heather (Stan) and their family: Donna (Lyle) and Carmen (Charlie); son, Dennis (Bonnie) and their family: Christopher, Ashley and Erin, five great-grandchildren, his brother, Russell Hallborg and two sisters: Irene Klein and Marie Ducharme. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday evening 7-9p.m. at the Funeral Home. For those so wishing, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Association, #301-2550-12th Ave., Regina, Saskatchewan, S4P 3X1. In living memory of Herman, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

NORMAN H. BALDERSTON

Norm Balderston passed away peacefully with family at his side on August 2, 2005 . He was predeceased by his parents, James and Edith; sister Lillian and brothers Reg and Bert; daughter-in-law Lorie; sisters-in-law, Marj Balderston, Florence Humphrey, and Florence Hemsworth; and brothers-in-law, Les Rogers, Doug Humphrey, and Spence Hemsworth. He is survived by his wife Jean, sons Dennis (Beth), Greg, and their families; sister-in-law Doris Rogers, and numerous nieces and nephews. Norm was born in Lincolnshire, England July 20, 1914 and came to Canada with his parents in 1921 to a farm in the Rouleau district. He graduated from Reliance Business College in 1932. He moved to Moose Jaw in 1939 and began farming in the Pense district in 1940. He retired from farming in 1973. Norm was an avid sportsman, enjoyed baseball, hockey, curling, golf and playing cards with his friends at the Hillcrest Sports Centre. He was a member of the Saskatchewan Curling Association Executive Council for many years and became the Executive Director in 1966 until his retirement in 1980. He was a President of the Moose Jaw Curling Club and an Honorary Life Member of the Hillcrest Sports Centre and Saskatchewan Curling Association. For his contribution to sports, he received the Cosmopolitan Distinguished Service award in 1967 and the Moose Jaw Citizen of the Year award in 1968. He was inducted into the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame in 1988 and into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame in 1995. Last but not least, Norm loved and was concerned for his family and always was ready with a helping hand or kind word whenever the situations arose. He was truly an inspiration to all of us who knew and loved him. Funeral Services will take place at Zion United Church in Moose Jaw on Monday, August 22, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Molly Kitchen will officiate. Memorialization will follow at Rosedale Cemetery at a later time. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Hillcrest Sports Centre fund and/or the Alzheimer’s Association #301-2550, 12th Ave. Regina, SK. S4P 3X1. In living memory of Norm Balderston, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

HUNTER ALEXANDER MacNEVIN

Hunter Alexander MacNevin infant son of Ashton MacNevin and Heather Hutchinson passed away on Friday February 11, 2005. Predeceased by a sister; Jayden, grandpa: Bob Brentnell and an Uncle Alex MacNevin. Hunter is survived by his loving parents: Heather and Ashton, two sisters; Ashlyn and Isabella and two brothers: Brenden and Ryland. Grandparents Bruce and Rose MacNevin and Grandma Linda Brentnell and also Hunter’s great-grandparents, as well as numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. The Funeral Service will be held at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel on Wednesday February 16, 2005 at 3:30 p.m. Della Ferguson will officiate. After cremation memorialization will take place at a later date in the grave of his sister Jayden at Rosedale Cemetery. In living memory of Hunter, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

WILLIAM "BILL" WALLACE
February 20, 1931 – February 27, 2003

It is with great sadness, the family of Bill Wallace announces his sudden passing on Thursday, February 27, 2003. Bill was born and raised in Moose Jaw and spent most of his life here. He enjoyed his work as a plumber and worked for many years at his trade; hence his nickname “Bill the Plumber”. Bill participated in and was a champion in power-lifting competitions in his younger years. He enjoyed the game of golf and excelled at it. Bill and Rose enjoyed the company of their many friends and enjoyed holidays and traveling together. Bill was predeceased by his parents Emma and William, his stepfather Harry Dobni and his sister Grace – all of Moose Jaw. Bill is survived by his wife Rose, of fifty years and will be dearly missed by herself and their daughters and family including: Joanne Wallace, Lori Wallace, Rhonda Wandler (Derek), Carla Graves (Neil), and grandchildren Rachelle and Jessie, Eddie, Aaron and Ashley. Bill is also survived by his sisters June McGeachy and Edith Wall and brother-in-law Marvin Wall; as well as many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service and final viewing to celebrate Bill’s life will be held Sunday, March 2, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. in the evening at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Della Ferguson will officiate. Memorialization will take place at a later time. Visitation for family and friends will he held Sunday from 3p.m.– 4:30p.m. at the Funeral Home. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Brown, Dr. Amies and Dr. Thorpe and to the Emergency Ward Staff of the Union Hospital for all of their help and kindness. Donations in Bill’s memory may be directed to the Saskatchewan Heart & Stroke Foundation, Box 521, Moose Jaw, S6H 4P2. In living memory of Bill, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
