Robert Edwin Ball of Valjean, passed away March 16, 2004 at the age of 91 years. Bob was born August 15, 1912 in Wellbank, Saskatchewan, living most of his life in Valjean. He is predeceased by his parents, William and Edith; his first wife, Ruby; brothers, Sid, Bert, and Dave; sister, May Gestrin; grandson, Chris Sharp; brothers-in-law, Andy Gestrin, Bill Mackie; and sister-in-law, Gladys Ball. He is survived by his wife, Annie; son, Dennis (Geri) Ball and their children, Merridy (Darren) Most, Jason (Trina) Ball, and Les Ball; daughter, Joyce (Glen) Linton and their children, Scott Linton (Maureen Hillaby), Denise (Gerald) Perry, and Jackie Linton; step-daughter, Bev (David) Sharp of Castlegar, BC; and their children, Seanan (Sarah) Sharp, Nayana (Patrick) Lacasse, Ian (Nathania) Sharp, Kalindi (Sam) Coleman, and Joella Sharp; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Jim (Ruth) Ball; sisters, Joan (Bill) Morgan and Dorothy Mackie; and sister-in-law, Ann Ball. Bob was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Chaplin Lions Club. He was a farmer/rancher and was well known in the community for his farm machinery dealership and his honest, dedicated service to his many customers. Funeral Services will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel on Friday March 19, 2004 at 1:30 pm. Sandra Sellars will officiate. Masonic Rites will be conducted by the Doric/St. George Lodge, Moose Jaw. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2, the Alzheimer Association, #301, 2550 12th Ave., Regina, S4P 3X1, or to a charity of choice would be appreciated. Isabelle Lila Wilkinson (nee Young)
Aug. 16, 1922 - June 22, 2009
Isabelle passed away peacefully, with family by her side, at the Union Hospital, Moose Jaw early Monday, June 22 at the age of 86 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Robert; sons Stewart (Marianne), Keith (Carol), Russell (Robyn); daughters Mary (Robert Frizzell) and Rennie (Peter Bishop); grandchildren Kerri (Spencer), David (Natalie), Lana (Jean-Luc), Travis (Shyla), Brandon (Colleen), Jordan, and Ryan; and great-grandchildren Lily, Avery, Lyra, Justin, and Elliot. She is also survived by her brother Vernon (Ky) Young and sister Mary (John) Price, and many loving nieces and nephews. The Memorial Service will be held at Zion United Church, 423 Main Street N, Moose Jaw Friday, June 26th at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Dr. Jack Bray will officiate. Memorialization will take place privately at Rosedale Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Union Hospital, including Dr. G. B. Miller and Dr. F. S. Majid. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, Union Hospital Building Fund, 455 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 1H3. ALICE BRADFORD
Mrs. Alice Bradford passed away peacefully at Chateau St. Michael Care Home on Wednesday March 30, 2005 at the age of 94 years. Alice was born January 11, 1911 to Albert and Alice Voisey on the family farm at Bridgeford, Sask. It was there that she grew up before going to Normal School and becoming a teacher. It was while teaching that she met her future husband, Fred Bradford. They were married on November 10, 1935. Alice had a deep love for her Savior, her family and nature. She is predeceased by her parents; brother, Albert; sisters, Anne McNairn, Violet Neal, and Margaret Reid; father and mother-in-law, Bowyer and May Bradford; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law; two nephews and two nieces. Alice leaves to mourn her passing, her loving husband of 69 years, Fred; sons: Mel (Ferne), Doug (Karen), Lyle (Louise), and Cecil (Nancy); grandchildren: Denise (Lonnie) Smith, Kelvin (Lori) Bradford, Lynne (Jim) Kosma, Colin Bradford, Wendy Bradford (Darren Mitchell), Wayne (Heather) Bradford, Mark (Danneilia) Bradford, Neil Bradford, Andrew Bradford, Kara Lee (Stacy) Lund, and Kara Lee’s mother, Kathy Bradford; sixteen great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Colwell; brother, Jim (Mona) Voisey; sister, Marion (Egon) Neilson; sisters-in-law, Torchy Voisey, Esther Bradford and Thelma (Harold) Dunn; brother-in-law, Bud (Irene) Bradford; many nieces and nephews; and many friends. The Funeral Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Saturday April 2, 2005 at 1:00 pm. Lloyd Kneesch and Anne Malcolm will officiate. EMMA HOFFERT
MRS. EMMA HOFFERT, of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2004. She will be sadly missed by her brother and sisters. In keeping with Emma’s wishes, a private family service will take place. Following cremation, interment will take place in the family plot, Rosedale Cemetery. RENE BULL
It is with great sadness that the family of Rene Bull announces her passing on Monday, February 12, 2007 at the age of 89 years. Rene was born and raised in the Margo area. She married Wilbert (Wib) Bull on October 24, 1938 and they lived in Invermay and Quill Lake prior to moving to Moose Jaw in 1957. Rene was a gifted musician, although she did not have any formal instruction. At an early age she played in an all violin orchestra. Rene was a choir leader for forty years in Invermay, Quill Lake, and Moose Jaw. She was a member of Trinity United Church since 1957, and was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star since June 1963. Rene’s memory will be greatly cherished by her loving husband of 68 years, Wib; her daughters, Elaine (Ken) Maxwell, and Sheila (Jim) Herrem; grandchildren, Mitch, Richelle, and Karen Necker; Jennifer (Brad Sparks) and David (Chrissy) Passmore; great-grandchildren, Kyle Necker and Mia Passmore; brother, Gordon (Pat) McNulty; and sisters, Norma Donovan and Mavis (Doug) Brown. Rene was predeceased by her parents James and Gina McNulty; her brothers Percy and Lorne; and sister Gladys Gundacker. A Celebration of Rene’s life will be held at Minto United Church on Thursday February 15, 2007 at 1:30 pm. Reverend John Carley will officiate. Cremation will follow with memorialization at Rosedale Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials to your favorite charity would be appreciated. DAISY SMITH
It is with great sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Daisy Annie Smith (nee Spring) on December 7, 2003, at the age of 86 years. She was sadly predeceased by her brother, Wilfred Spring, mother, Pyna Spring (nee McCammack), father, Wesley Spring, husband, Robert James Smith and her sister, Violet (Jack) Smith. She is survived by her brother, William (Hilda) Spring, of Brandon MN., daughters: Viola (Keith) Watt, of Edmonton, AB., Mary (William) Taylor, of Trenton, ON., and Brenda Price, of Moose Jaw, SK., sons: Robert (Faye) Smith, of Calgary, AB. and Brian (Michelle) Smith, of Kelowna, B.C., eleven grandchildren: Cindy, Kevin, Lynelle, Darrell, Debbie, Shannon, Cameron, Erin, Mark, Nicole and Tanya; twelve great-grandchildren: Adam, Evan, Haley, Jillayne, Blair, Michael, Trisha, Ashley, Caitlin, Ethan, Ashley and Jake, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins throughout Canada. In keeping with Daisy’s wishes, no memorial service will be held. Interment will be at a later date at Rosedale Cemetery, Moose Jaw, SK. Memorials in Daisy’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, #301–2550 – 12th Ave., Regina, SK., S4P 3X1. Daisy will be dearly missed and always remembered by family and friends. JANE TAIT
Jane Ellen Tait was born in the Blue Hill/Briercrest District on April 26, 1911 to John and Hannah Glover, who farmed and ranched in the Blue Hill District. Janie is the oldest of three children. She has a sister Olive Schenk of Moose Jaw and a brother Cecil (Jake) Glover (deceased). She attended Ridley School and later Briercrest School and joined Blue Hill United Church. On October 19, 1933, Rev. George Cree married Janie Glover and Stan Tait in the Briercrest United Church manse. They started farming and ranching on NW20-13-25 and SW29-13-25, 10 miles southwest of Briercrest in the Blue Hill District. For many years they were very active in their Church and community and helped their neighbors in any way they could. Their home became a Mecca for relatives and friends, young and old. Everyone was welcome. A daughter, Doreen (Dean) was born to Stan and Janie on January 3, 1935. Janie taught Sunday School and was president of the Blue Hill U.C.W. for a number of years. She belonged to the Church Choir. Janie always had a huge garden and sewed most of the family's clothes. She enjoyed embroidery, quilting and crocheting. Janie and Stan enjoyed going to rodeos with their good friends, Bill and Irene Gomersall and families. Stan and Bill worked as pickup men at many of these early rodeos in the 1940's and 1950's. Janie ran the Briercrest Post Office for two years and at times lived in the Village. She moved to Moose Jaw in the later 1960's and worked at Central Park Nursing Home, later called Extendicare Home. Janie worked at Extendicare Nursing Home for nine years before retiring in 1976. Janie was very active in the Grandview United Church and Grandview U.C.W. and for many years was the gracious hostess of "Janie's Junk Table" at the annual Grandview United Church Flea Market. Stan died in June 1974 and is buried at Blue Hill Cemetery. Janie has enjoyed several trips, especially one made to Australia and New Zealand. Janie's daughter, Doreen “Dean” presently lives in Mortlach. Janie has two grandchildren, Janice Turner and Marty Macdiarmid. She has four great grandchildren, Jolyn Knox, Houston Forman, Chelsea Blaczczok and Tyler Macdiarmid. She has three great-great-granddaughters, Phoenix Hannah and Makenna Jane Blaczczok and Julia Tait. The Funeral Service will be held at Grandview United Church, 722 10th Ave. S.W., on Friday March 27, 2009 at 2:00 pm. Glennys Grosenick will officiate. Interment will take place at the Blue Hill Cemetery in the spring. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday evening, 7-8 p.m. at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 106 Athabasca St. E. Memorials to Grandview United Church would be appreciated. In living memory of Jane, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J.
