Margaret Parr, age 85, of Moose Jaw, passed away at home on April 3, 2007. She was born in Moose Jaw and lived in Boharm until she married John Parr in 1946. Predeceased by John, and her brother Burleigh Hill, Margaret is survived by her son, Michael (Judy) – Moose Jaw; daughter, Susan (Ronald) Lamb – Saskatoon; two grandchildren, Jeff (Arla) and Jody; four great-grandchildren, Bailey and Mitchell Parr, Cassidy and Kayleigh Olson (and their father Trevor Olson) – all of Moose Jaw; brothers, Doug (Muriel), Don (Marg) – Boharm, Gord (Mary) – Moose Jaw, and Bob (Robbie) – Edmonton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Saturday April 7, 2007 at 1:30 pm. Pastor Ron Gray will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. BEVERLEY HAMILTON
BEVERLEY ANN HAMILTON (nee Bliss) passed away suddenly May 26, 2004 at the age of 64 years. Born August 6, 1939 in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, Beverley was predeceased by twin sister, Rosalie Ann in 1939, parents, Marie Ann and George Edward Bliss in 1987, brother-in-law, Charles Krause in 1973 and sister-in-law, Lorraine Bliss in 1976. She is survived by sons: Dallas Baiton of Moose Jaw, Marlowe Baiton of Winnipeg and daughter, Darlene Miller of Chilliwack, B.C.; grandsons: Cameron, Aubrey and Perry Miller; brothers: Cecil (Gladys) Bliss of Calgary and Cameron Bliss of Edmonton; sisters: Gwen Ducharme of Moose Jaw and Diane Krause of Calgary, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Beverley is loved and will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched. Prayer Services will be held at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. Reverend Father Gerry Bauche will officiate. The Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Rosedale Cemetery. FRANK GEORGE TURNER
July 10, 1919 – February 26, 2005
Frank passed away on February 26, 2005 at the age of 85 years. Frank was born and raised in Moose Jaw. He joined the RCAF in 1939 and was stationed in England where he met and married his wife Doris in 1944. Frank returned to Canada in 1945 and Doris joined his a year later. Shortly after his return, he began working with CP Railway, retiring in 1980. Frank will be sadly missed by his five children: Michael of Grande Prairie, Wayne (Sue) of Comox, B.C., Carol (Bill) of Texas, Doreen (John) of Edmonton and Patricia (Rick) of Lloydminster; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Frank is survived by two brothers: Bert (Lil) of Calgary and Don of Calgary. Following cremation, memorialization will take place at Rosedale Cemetery with Padre Doug Shepherd officiating. Funeral Rites will be conducted by Stan Skrill of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #59. In keeping with Frank’s wish, the family will meet friends for a time of fellowship, remembrance and refreshment on Thursday, March 3, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Canteen (lower level), 268 High Street West. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations for the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2 would be gratefully accepted. GLADYS BATHGATE
Mrs. Gladys Bathgate passed away on Wednesday October 27, 2004 at the age of 67 years. She was predeceased by a daughter Tammy. Gladys is survived by her husband: Lyle - Moose Jaw and a daughter Cindy Whyte - Shaunavon. In keeping with the families wishes no services will be held. Cremation with memorialization at Prairie Memorial Columbarium, Moose Jaw at a later date.
VICTOR MYERS
Victor Michael passed away peacefully at Providence Place, Moose Jaw on Saturday March 29, 2008 98 years of age. Victor was born in Cedoux, SK in 1909. He eventually moved to Weyburn, SK and married Emily (Mitchell) from Star City, SK on April 25, 1938. Victor farmed for a few years and did custom combining in Texas during the 1940’s. He also worked for the CPR for 30 years, retiring in 1974. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Emily; four children: Marilyn Haffner – Fort Saskatchewan, AB, Marlene (Al) Strank – Mission, BC; Gail (Rene) LeGrand – Medicine Hat, AB, and Alan (Janice) Myers – Kelowna, BC. He was a grandfather to: Jody LeGrand – Fort Saskatchewan, David Haffner – Toronto, Daniel (Debbie) Haffner – Moor Park, CA, Todd (Lissa) LeGrand – Regina, Sean Strank – Hamilton, MT, Ryan (Danielle) Strank – Kamloops, Mark LeGrand – Regina, Shannon Myers – Saskatoon, Graham and Hailey Myers - Kelowna; eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Victor was predeceased by his three sisters, Mary, Francis, and Vernie; and four brothers, Tom, John, Joe, and Louie. The Service of Remembrance will be held at Providence Place Chapel, Monday April 7, 2008 at 2:00 pm. Dr. James Pulfer will officiate. Memorialization will take place at the family plot Sunset Cemetery. Memorials to Providence Place Foundation, 100 Second Ave. NE., Moose Jaw, S6H 1B8, would be appreciated. NORMA TURNER
Norma Turner (McIntyre), of Moose Jaw, passed away suddenly on July 6, 2005. Norma was born in Caron on April 3, 1924. She resided in Regina for many years until retiring to Regina Beach where she was active in the community, especially enjoying social activities and the walking club. She is predeceased by her husband Joe, daughter Teresa and ten brothers and sisters. She is survived by son, James (Bernadette Quade) of Gatineau, PQ; daughter, Sandra of Surrey, BC; seven grandsons, and three great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Norma’s life will take place at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Tuesday July 12, 2005 at 1:00 pm. Della Ferguson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials to a charity of choice would be appreciated. WAYNE CAVE
WAYNE CAVE (1960-2004) formerly of Tugaske, Saskatchewan, passed away on January 5, 2004 in Ottawa, following a battle with cancer. Wayne is survived by his partner, Ed St. Jean, parents, Stan and Sylvia; brothers: Clayton and Bruce (Dianne), as well as nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at the Tugaske Community Hall on April 18, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Richard McCorrister will conduct the service. Memorialization will take place at Tugaske Cemetery. Donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society 61-B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2 are greatly appreciated. SHERMAN SMITH
Sherman Harvey Smith, passed away peacefully at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital on July 8, 2005, after a short illness, at the age of 89 years. Sherm was born in Charleswood, Manitoba on December 17, 1915. He grew up on a farm, the youngest of four brothers. Sherm started his career in Winnipeg with the Ford Motor Company, then he joined the R.C.M.P. Later he founded the Arco Automotive Company in Regina. Here he supported a training program for young employees with learning disabilities, for which Sherm later received an award from the Governor General. He enjoyed music and played the steel guitar in his youth. Sherm enjoyed a lengthy retirement with many warm winters in Arizona and summers at Buffalo Pound Lake with his wife Ila. His hobbies included silversmithing, golfing, and carpentry. He will be missed by Ila, his wife of 24 years; daughter, Bonnie Smith of Lac La Biche, AB; granddaughter, Elizabeth (Shane) Shaffer, great-grandchildren, James and Kyle of Lac La Biche; step-daughters, Donna Lynn Novak of Lumsden; Rosalynn (Don) Thompson of St. Albert, AB; step-grandchildren, Dean Jones of Moose Jaw; and Jonina and Melanie Thompson of St. Albert. He is predeceased by his mother, Jessica; father, Robert; and three brothers, Ellis, Bill and Selwyn. In keeping with Sherm’s wishes, cremation will take place and there will be a family graveside memorial to celebrate Sherm’s life at a later date in Regina. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Union Hospital Foundation, 455 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 1H3, would be appreciated. As Sherman’s family, we would like to thank Dr. VanNiekerk, Dr. Majid, and the special, caring nursing staff in ICU and on the Second Floor of the Moose Jaw Union Hospital.
