ALICE FAY DUMELIE, Fay to all who knew her, passed away April 25, 2006 at Central Butte Hospital. Predeceased by her father, Elwood, a brother, Arnie, Fay is survived by her two sons: James Dumelie (Gail Giroux) and their family: Kaila, Deana Fay and James of Lethbridge; and Jody Dumelie (Jamie) and their son, Carter of Melville, her mother, Wilma Wheeler of Eyebrow; five brothers: Larry of Brownlee, Bill (Debbie) of Eyebrow, Naron of Moose Jaw, Neville (Marcia) of Eyebrow, Mark (Pam) of Grand Prairie, and one sister, Landis (Vince) of Central Butte, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Following cremation, A Private Celebration of Fay’s life will take place at Eyebrow Free Methodist Church. Alaine and Dwayne Tanner will officiate. Interment of the cremated remains will be at the Wheeler family plot at Eyebrow Cemetery. Memorials for the Central Butte Regency Manor, Palliative Care Unit, Central Butte, S0H 0T0 would be appreciated. In living memory of Fay a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. FERNE WILLIAMS
Ferne Williams, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on September 1, 2007. Born May 12, 1920, Ferne was raised on the family farm of her parents, Clara and Wyman Brown in the Mortlach area. She lived most of her adult life in Moose Jaw. Ferne and Roy were married December 7, 1941, and were very devoted parents to their four children. They enjoyed many trips to Hawaii and other destinations, often with good friends. Ferne was well known for her skills as a seamstress. She loved creating beautiful gowns for weddings. She did this work for 35 years. Ferne was a life member of Rebekah Lodge (Olive Branch # 4), and was actively involved for many years supporting the organization in its community charitable work. Following Roy’s passing in 2000, Ferne enjoyed living at the Bentley Retirement Community for the past five years. Her many friends there will miss her presence. She is lovingly remembered by her brother Edgar Brown of Saskatoon, by her children Shannon (Grant) Rathwell of Moose Jaw; Bonnie (Ted) Norrie of Elie, MB; Terry (Brenda) Williams of Calgary; and Larry Williams of Moose Jaw. Ferne is also survived and will be greatly missed by eight grandchildren: Patrick ( Shannon ) Rathwell; Sean (Deanna) Rathwell; Kimberly Norrie (David); Jamie Norrie (Joe); Latasha Williams; Dallas Williams (Amanda); and Daniel and Michael Williams; and by five great children: Ryan and Jennifer Rathwell; Christopher Watson; and Erika and Conor Rathwell. Ferne will also be missed by many other friends and family members who fondly remember her for her love of life and her generous spirit. Ferne’s life will be celebrated at a Memorial Service to be held Thursday, September 6 at W. J. Jones and Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw, at 1:30 p.m. Della Ferguson will the celebrant. A committal service will follow at Sunset Cemetery. A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. at W. J. Jones and Son Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 455 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, SK, or Canadian Cancer Society, Breast Cancer Research, 61B Ross St., Moose Jaw, SK. VIVIAN DAVIDSON
MRS. VIVIAN DAVIDSON, age 89 years of Moose Jaw, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2006. Born at Macrorie in 1916, Vivian moved to Outlook in 1932 and to Moose Jaw in 1940. She worked as food supervisor at St. Anthony’s Home for fifteen years, retiring in 1981. Vivian enjoyed her home, playing cards and Bingo, but especially looked forward to spending time with her family and friends. Predeceased by her parents, her son, Maurice Smart in 1945 and her sisters: Margaret, Beatrice and Avis; her brothers: Arthur, Maurice, Verden and Clifford who was killed in action and buried in Bergen-Op-Zoom, Holland in 1944, and her husband, James (Jim) in 1993, she is survived by her son, Ben (Joanne) Smart of Regina, daughter Doreen (Brian) Stevenson of Moose Jaw; grandchildren: Rick (Sherri) Kaytor, Brenda (Don) Hutchinson, Brian (Norma) Kaytor and Debbie Kaytor – all of Moose Jaw; great-grandchildren: Jennifer, Jim, Derek, Greg, Bryan (Erika), Randy, Nicole and Jeff, as well as several nieces and nephews. In keeping with Vivian’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Following cremation a private family service will take place at a later date. LEONARD KENT
Leonard Cecil Kent of Riverhurst, passed away on Tuesday September 25, 2007 at the age of 89 years. Leonard is lovingly remembered by his wife, Joan; three children, Gordon (Bernadette), Karen (Andy), and Rodney; along with six grandchildren: Damien (Tanya), Matthew, Christopher, Diana, Megan, and Grahame. He was predeceased by his mother Mary (who died of influenza in 1918 when he was an infant), his father James, his foster parents Tom and Eunice Kent, and their daughter Marion Hamer; his brothers, Lindsay, Carman and Kenneth; sister Elsie; brothers-in-law, Allen Hatley, Eldon Songer, Jack Hamer and Bill Dobbs; and sisters-in-law Betty Songer, Dorothy and Amy Kent. Leonard grew up on the farm that was homesteaded by his uncle Tom. He married Joan Hatley on November 1, 1949 and together they raised her youngest brother Fred (from the time he was 12), and their own children, while continuing to expand the farm. Leonard never really retired from farming, but he and Joan moved into Riverhurst in the fall of 1992. As well as farming, Leonard was also very active within the community. He was involved with the Senior Baseball Club and the Riverhurst Curling Club. He served on various boards and committees such as the Co-op Association, C.C.I.L., United Church, Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, and the Riverhurst/Moose Jaw Credit Union. He also represented the area as a Saskatchewan Wheat Pool Delegate. Leonard always felt that furthering one's education was important. He attended one year of the School of Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan, which he found very worthwhile. He was a great mentor to Fred, Gordon, Karen and Rodney, as well as to his grandchildren. Leonard always enjoyed travelling whenever he had the opportunity and always encouraged his family to do the same. A Celebration of Leonard’s life will be held at the Riverhurst Community Hall on Monday October 1, 2007 at 2:00 pm. Reverend Rick McCorrister will officiate. Interment will take place at the Riverhurst Cemetery. Those so wishing may make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2, or to a charity of your choice. EMMA BEAMISH
Emma Beamish passed away at Providence Place May 11, 2004 at the age of 95 years. Emma was born in Hamiota, Manitoba November 5, 1908. She is predeceased by her husband, Russel in 1982. She is survived by son, Art (Lee) Beamish of Victoria; daughter, Beatrice Galbraith of Thunder Bay; seven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and sisters. By request, there will be no funeral service. Memorialization will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. In living memory of Emma, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. ROBERT "BOB" HIEBERT
With sadness, the family of Robert Wayne Hiebert announce his sudden passing on January 28, 2004. Bob was born in Victoria, BC on October 30, 1958 and grew up in Edmonton before settling in Moose Jaw. He was a kind hearted person who had a great love for working on cars and spending time with all the children in his life. Bob will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered for soft eyes and a kind heart. He is predeceased by his grandparents, Peter and Vera Hiebert of Moose Jaw; Eugene and Martha Alrich of Hamm, Germany; uncle, Gary Hiebert; great-aunt, Gladys Zwolinski; nephew, Darnel McLean; and nieces Joanne and Janice Spearman of Moose Jaw. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Hiebert of Davidson; son, Wayne Hiebert of Moose Jaw; daughter, Mandy (James) Tichit and grandson, Drayson James Robert Tichit of Davidson; parents, Robert and Ursula Hiebert of Moose Jaw; sisters, Petra of Mission, BC; Gloria (Bob) Daku of Lethbridge, AB; Barbara (Shawn) Gailey of Moose Jaw; nieces and nephews, Kevin, Danny, Karen, Jason, Josh, Diane, Don, Devyn, and Tyler; in-laws: Charlotte and George Wiome; Margie and Murray Spearman; Donna and Rob Koch; Tim and Joanne McLean; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and his special friend Marg. A Memorial Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Tuesday, February 3, 2004 at 2:00 pm. Della Ferguson will officiate. Memorialization will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. William David Low of Moose Jaw passed away peacefully on Friday, September 24, at the age of 88. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-five years, Nancy; his daughters, Connie (Craig) Tressel, and JoAnn (Ed) Friesen; grandchildren: Tracy, Jody (Jill), Curtis, Leah (Dave), Sean (fiance, Colleen Stone), Christopher, great-grandson, Sammy; and sister, Dorothy McLaren.
