PERCY QUIRK

PERCY ARNOLD CLARKE QUIRK, peacefully went to be with his Lord on February 2, 2003, at Providence Place, Moose Jaw, at the age of 95 years. Born in Bride on the Isle of Man (UK) July 31, 1907, Percy emigrated to Canada in 1911 at the age of four with his family. After first settling in Moose Jaw for a period, the family next homesteaded near Vantage, Saskatchewan in 1914. Percy briefly attended the Empire Elementary School in Moose Jaw followed by the Mossbank School and graduated from high school in Vantage. Percy then trained and worked at the Saskatchewan Provincial Hospital in Weyburn as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse. Percy met Kathleen March Pearce (Kay) in 1938 and they married February 14, 1939. They made their home in Weyburn, raising three children, David, Jim and Sharon. The family moved to Moose Jaw in 1955 where Percy continued in his career of 34 years at Valley View Centre. Percy, from a musically inclined family, had a very sociable personality. He played trumpet, banjo and sang. He was active in choir for a time. He enjoyed being an emcee and had numerous hobbies, building, maintaining, photography, baseball, camping and traveling. In particular, his amateur radio activity spanned most of his life. Percy and Kay were members of the Weyburn and Moose Jaw First Baptist Church for 40 years. Predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Emma Quark, sister, Lilian Campbell and son, David Quirk. Percy is survived by wife of 64 years, Kathleen (Kay); granddaughter, Carla; great-grandchildren: Anthony and Cassie; son, Jim (Dorothy); grandchildren: David, Dean (Michel) and Megan; daughter, Sharon (Don) Snell; grandchildren: Carlie and Bret; brothers: Eric (Agnes) Quark and Ramsey (Audrey) Quark; sister, Ruby Bennett as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2003 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church, Moose Jaw. Reverend Steven MacCuaig will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation will take place Wednesday evening 7 – 9 pm at W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations to Providence Place or to the First Baptist Church would help express the family’s sentiments. In living memory of Percy, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

GEORGE RESVICK

George Lionel Resvick of Gravelbourg, Sask., formerly of Bateman, Sask. peacefully passed away on July 21, 2003. George was born at Wiwa Hills on the family farm on January 22, 1924. He continued farming the family farm until his retirement, then moving to Gravelbourg. George was the Mayor of Bateman for many years, actively involved and very proud of the community. George was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Charter Member of the Bateman Lions. He is predeceased by his parents Anna and Nels; brothers: Elmo, Ralph, Harold, and Arthur; sisters: Lil and Caroline. George is survived by brothers, Gordon (Bertha), Bill (Anne), and sister, Gen; sister-in-law, Kay Resvick; and many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and neighbours. In keeping with George’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. Following cremation, interment will take place at the Bateman Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Bateman Cemetery Fund, c/o Sharon Herperger, 1219 Grafton Ave., Moose Jaw, S6H 3S7. In living memory of George, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

DORIS BREGG

Doris Rosalind Bregg (Todd), of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 2, 2005. Predeceased by her husband Mel, son Gary, parents Mary Ann and Alex Todd, as well as brothers John and George, and sister Lillian Scharfe. Doris leaves to mourn her daughters Vivian Bregg – Moose Jaw and Bev (Gil) Pomrenke – Winnipeg, as well as grandchildren Leanne and Angela Pomrenke, Michael, Miriam and Andrea Bregg, loving brother Allan (Roberta) Todd of Watrous, sister-in-law, Helen Todd - Moose Jaw as well as nieces and nephews. Doris was kind hearted to all, loved family, and taught by example. Named Danna upon becoming a grandmother, Doris delighted in watching her grandchildren as they grew. In keeping with Doris’ wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 13th at 1:00 p.m. at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw. The family would like to thank the kind staff at Extendicare for making her last weeks as comfortable as possible. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Extendicare Family Support Group, 1151 Coteau St. W., Moose Jaw, Sask., S6H 5G5 or to a charity of one’s choice. In living memory of Doris, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

VERNA MONTGOMERY

VERNA MONTGOMERY, age 94 years of Moose Jaw, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2003 with family at her side. Born February 19, 1909 in Perham, Minnesota (Ottertaul County), Verna came to Canada at an early age settling in Chaplin, Saskatchewan, later moving to Moose Jaw where she since resided. Predeceased by her parents, Henry and Emma Bauck, husband, Robert (Bob) Montgomery in 1978; sisters: Dorothy, Marie and Violet; brothers: Ruben, Evans, Melvin and Elmer. Verna is sadly missed by her son, R.D. (Don) Montgomery, daughter, Carol (Brian) Hadley; granddaughters who knew her as “Grandma Gum” – Tracy (Murray) Deobald, Corrine (Bernie) Pirot, Dianne Stockwell, Susan (Jerome) Wagner, eleven great-grandchildren and sisters-in-law: Ada Bauck, Thelma Montgomery, Verna Davies, Aura Bauck and Jean Bauck. Verna was involved with many groups over the years including Minto Social Group and the Eastern Star. In keeping with Verna’s request, a private family service will take place at a later date at the family plot, Rosedale Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. An expression of sympathy contribution may be made to Pioneer Lodge, 1000 Albert Street, Moose Jaw, S6H 2Y2 or to a charity of one’s choice. Many thanks and appreciation to the staff at Pioneer Lodge, Eastern Star, Minto United Church, the Masonic Lodge and all who made visits over the years. In living memory of Verna, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

GERALDINE ROSE

Geraldine Marguerite Rose passed away March 20, 2004 at the age of 85 years. Born in Moose Jaw, she attended Alexandra School, Central Collegiate and Business College. Geraldine lived most of her life in the city and work for many years at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital. She was a member of the Princess Patricia Club and the Timothy Eaton Garden Seniors Centre. She is survived by many relatives, special cousins: Clara Herring – Bishopton, PQ; Isabel Olson – Moose Jaw; and other cousins; and many very good friends, especially Marian McDougall and Jean McDougall of Moose Jaw. Graveside Services will be held at the family plot Moose Jaw Cemetery, Thursday March 25, 2004 at 1:30 pm. Reverend John Gardner will officiate. Friends so wishing, may join the cortege at W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home at 1:15 pm. Memorials to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 455 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 1H3, or to St. Aidan Anglican Church, 124 1st Ave. N.E., Moose Jaw, S6H 0Y8, would be appreciated. In living memory of Geraldine, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

MARGARET EISENKIRCH-CRIDDLE

MRS. MARGARET EISENKIRCH-CRIDDLE (nee: Stark), age 94 of Moose Jaw passed away peacefully on February 3, 2005. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 11, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend Rita Cattell will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. For those so wishing, memorials may be made to the Recreation Department at Pioneers Lodge, 1000 Albert Street, Moose Jaw, S6H 2Y2. In living memory of Margaret, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

MADELEINE LANGDON

MADELEINE CATHERINE LANGDON passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2004, on her 86th birthday at Providence Place, Moose Jaw. Predeceased by her husband, Percy in March 1979, Madeleine is survived by her daughter, Linda (Ed Voroney); grandchildren: Jocelyn (Aaron Kujat) and Dana (Neal Ross) and; two great-grandchildren: Maia Lili and Ava Maddy Ross. A Celebration of Madeleine’s Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 3 2004 at Zion United Church, 423 Main St. N., Moose Jaw. Linda Owens will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Association, #301-2550, 12th Ave., Regina, Sask., S4P 3X1 or to the Parkinson Foundation, 108B-3502 Taylor St. E., Saskatoon, Sask., S7H 5H9. Heartfelt thanks are extended to Dr. Rininsland, the staff of Ina Grafton Home and Providence Place, Moose Jaw.

JOHN FEARNSIDE
August 22, 1923 - January 1, 2008

John was born in Bengough, Saskatchewan. On January 1, 2008, at age 84, he passed away peacefully at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital. He is predeceased by his wife Florence, his parents, John and Mary Ann and by three sisters: Isabella Mac Donald, Ivy Mitchell and Dorothy Cook. He is lovingly remembered and will be missed by sisters Iona MacLean, Iris Crawford and Irene Gorman, sister-in-law Bev Sanders and nieces and nephews; by his children: Garry (Cathy) Lister of Regina, Arlene (Gary) Walker of Swift Current, Bob (Shirley) Lister of Lloydminster, David (Sylvia) Lister of Moose Jaw and Jo-Anne (Wade) Holmes of Whitehorse; and by their children: Michelle and Amanda, Jill (Brendan) and Blaine (Karen), Joey and Robbie, Taryn and Andrew, and Amber and Owen. He also leaves behind six great grandchildren. John married Florence on November 1, 1969 and together they farmed the family homestead near Bengough until 1992 when they retired in Moose Jaw. For the past several years he has enjoyed living at the Bentley Retirement Community. John was devoted to his family and to farming. He could always be counted on when a neighbor was in need of a helping hand. He enjoyed playing cards as well as spending time with family and friends. We would like to thank Dr. B Van Heerden, the Union Hospital health care staff, Five Hills Home Care and staff at the Bentley Retirement Home for looking after John during his illness and stay in hospital. Thank you on his behalf to all of his friends for their support and caring. In keeping with John’s wishes a private family service will be held at a later time. We gratefully decline flowers instead we would appreciate your contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2 or a charity of your choice. In living memory of John, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
