It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brian MacAfee Hadley, Friday, March 5, 2004, at home with his family at his bedside, after a short battle with cancer. Loving husband of 45 years to Carol and Dad to Dianne Stockwell (John Bannister) and Susan (Jerome) Wagner and Grandpa to Terry and Alyssa Wagner, Jocelyn, Collin and “Mimi” Stockwell and Guinness. Predeceased by parents, Eph and Erina Hadley, he is survived by brother Michael Hadley and brother-in-law Don Montgomery, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews and special friends Vic and Beryl McEwan. Born July 14, 1937, he was raised and educated in Moose Jaw. In Brian’s younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Since retirement he’s taken great pleasure in his family and the back yard wildlife. At Brian’s request, there will be no funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations to Moose Jaw Union Hospital Palliative Home Care Program, 455 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, Sask., S6H 1H3 or to the Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658, Moose Jaw, Sask., S6H 7K7 would be gratefully accepted. A heartfelt “thank you” from the family to the Palliative Home Care Team that made Dad’s last request to die at home possible. AMBER AMELL
AMBER ELISE AMELL passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 in Regina at the age of 35 years. Amber is survived by her son, Cole (13 years old), her parents, Bob and Tammy Amell of Moose Jaw, her brother, Doug Amell (wife Heidi and their daughters Sage and Devon) of Moose Jaw, many relatives in Winnipeg and Prince Albert, and her beloved pets. A Celebration of Amber’s Life will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw on Wednesday, April 19, at 3:30 p.m. Reverend John Carley will officiate. As a single mother, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Amber’s memory may be forwarded to a trust fund set up for Cole payable to (Robert Amell in Trust) at Bank of Montreal, 48 High St. West, Moose Jaw, S6H 1S3 or taken to any Bank of Montreal branch which will then be forwarded to Moose Jaw. FRANK LARRIVEE
FRANK LARRIVEE of Moose Jaw passed away peacefully at the Union Hospital with family by his side on Monday, August 20, 2007 at the age of 83 years. Frank was born and raised on a farm in the Mayberry District. He served five years with the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1941-1946. When he returned Frank again took up and continued to farm until he retired in 1993. Frank was a life member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of Moose Jaw & District Seniors. He loved farming, camping, fishing, golfing, curling, lawn bowling, traveling and Mall walking. Predeceased by his parents, Willie and Marie, his first wife, Gladys Griesser; brothers: Wilfred, Arthur, Henry, Oliver, and infant brother, Leo; sisters: Florence McKibben, Eva Bernard, Irene Coulling and Yvonne Kube, Frank will be missed by his wife, Mary and children: Brian (Doreen) and family: Michel, Ivan & Karen and family: Jason & Marla; Laverna (Bob) and family: Nathan & Kyle; Allene and family: Brandy & Aura, Bob Morrissey (Simone) and sister, Justine Lowe - Lucky Lake; sisters-in-law: Betty Keck, Anne Larrivee, Clara Larrivee, Margaret Nykulak - Calgary and Violet Nykulaik - Winnipeg and brothers-in-law: Chris Griesser (Jo), Ralph Craig and Lorne Morrissey. Frank is also survived by many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 24, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 1064 Third Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw. Father Francis Folleh C.S.Sp. will preside. Army, Navy & Air Force Veterans Funeral Rites will be conducted at the church by Mr. Dave Eamon. Memorialization of cremated remains will take place at Rosedale Cemetery at a later time on Friday. An evening prayer service will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Frank may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2 or to a charity of one's choice. KATHERINE ELIZABETH "BETTY" WILLIAMS
We are sad to announce the death—but with happiness we celebrate the life—of Katherine Elizabeth (Betty) Williams (nee Nevill) of Moose Jaw on Tuesday, February 17, 2009, in her 83rd year, after a long and strong battle with multiple myeloma and renal failure. Betty was born, schooled, and lived most of her life in Moose Jaw. In 1950, Betty married Ken Williams and they spent the next 59 years raising a family, running a floor-covering business (R.T. Williams & Son), keeping a house and cabin at the lake, and enjoying their extended family and numerous travels to warm climates. She loved the sun and warmth, and her winter holidays to Barbados were her saviour for many years. Her family were always most important and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will miss her love and cookies. Betty is survived by her husband Ken; two children Janet (Mike) Ryan of Regina, and Paul (Carol) Williams of Red Deer; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother Bob (Wilma) Nevill, sisters Joan (John) Miller and Lucille (Jim) Vargo; and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Fred and Anne Nevill and great-grandchild, Duncan Olson. At her request, there will be no funeral service. SYDNEY COOPER
SYDNEY COOPER born December 23, 1915 in the Keeler district, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2004. Sydney was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy; two sons: Calvin and David, parents, Ada and Christopher, sister, Madeline (Peggy), and three brothers: George, Horace and Roy. Syd is survived by one daughter, Marilyn (Jerry) Cox and granddaughter, Nicole of Calgary; two sisters: Dorothy Kemp and Betty Murray; brothers: Clarence, Donny, Calvin (Bud), and many nieces and nephews. He was a former C.P. Rail employee and had retired from the CGTX. Syd spent many enjoyable days fishing, gardening and watching hockey and ball games with Dorothy. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 20, 2004 at 3:30 p.m. Pastor John Duerksen will officiate. Syd’s family would like to thank the staff at Oxford Place for all their care and kindness they provided to Dad. Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Darlene Daly, a loving mother and buba, passed away suddenly at home in Moose Jaw on September 18, 2007. Darlene Rose Mary Kirwan was born at Swift Current, Saskatchewan on May 24, 1955. She attended school at Gull Lake and Tompkins, Saskatchewan. A Funeral Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel, Saturday September 22, 2007 at 11:00 am. Reverend Frank Mitchell will officiate. Private Family Memorialization will take place at a later date at Swift Current. Memorials to the Sask. GEORGE CARNIE
February 13, 1924 – April 19, 2004
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father. Born the son of Ethel and Charles Carnie in Milden, Saskatchewan, George lived a productive and happy 80 years. After some growing up in Milden, George and the Carnie family moved to Regina where he attended Connaught School and Central Collegiate where he played football, baseball, and tennis for the “Gophers”. When Dad turned 18 in 1942, he proudly joined the Royal Canadian Air Force for the duration of World War II. George once again settled in Regina after the War and started a brief, but rewarding career in the theatre business. He managed the Capitol Theatre in Regina and theatres in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Valley City, North Dakota, before embarking on a long and successful career as an insurance broker. George married the love of his life, Doris in 1951. They were married for nearly 36 years, separated only by our Mother’s death in 1987. Dad’s passions included hunting and golfing. He competed in many Saskatchewan Golf Association “Senior” Championships where, in recent years, he was a two-time Provincial Legends Champion. George served the community in many ways as a member of the Moose Jaw Rotary Club, the Royal Canadian Legion, and had served as a board member of the Hillcrest Sports Centre and the Moose Jaw Humane Society. Dad’s greatest passion in life were his four children and 8 grandchildren. He is predeceased by his father, mother, beloved brothers Gilbert and Ned, step-sister Peggy, and step-brother Jack. George is survived by his loving companion Glenys Strayer; beloved sister, Betty Carnie of Saskatoon; his four children: Chuck of Regina, Judy (Michael) Lucus of Williams Lake, BC, June (Lawney) Donaldson of Pilot Butte, SK, and Rob (Lisa) of Moose Jaw; grandchildren: Terra and Jerrad Carnie of Regina; David Lucus of Williams Lake; and Kyle, Leah, Kurt, Cara, and Carla Donaldson of Pilot Butte; and his extended family at Folgizan Agencies where he continued to work until his passing.
A Celebration of George’s Life will be held at the Hillcrest Apostolic Church, 1550 Main Street North, on Friday April 23, 2004 at 2:00 pm. Della Ferguson will be the Celebrant. Royal Canadian Legion Funeral Rites will be conducted by Chuck MacMillan. Visitation for family and friends Thursday evening 7:30 – 9 pm at W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Following Cremation, interment will take place at the Family Plot, Regina Memorial Gardens at a later date.
