MARGE HEUCHERT

Marjorie Heuchert of Rouleau, Saskatchewan passed away on January 8, 2004 at the age of 85. Born in Prince Albert Saskatchewan July 22, 1918 to parents Joe and Bella Hall. She is survived by one son : James Hall, Saskatoon. In keeping with Marge's wishes there will be no funeral services. Cremation has taken place. Memorialization will take place at a later date.

FLORENCE BLANCHARD

FLORENCE V. BLANCHARD passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at the age of 76 years. Born in the Courval area, she attended school and grew up there. Florence married Roland Blanchard July 12, 1951 and the couple resided in Courval for a short time. They later resided in Moose Jaw and Spy Hill, Saskatchewan. Florence was one who enjoyed people, welcoming them into their home, feeding them and making sure they were full. She enjoyed all kinds of sports, especially curling. Florence was a devoted housewife to her husband, four children and grandchildren. She truly enjoyed the yearly Tremblay family reunions. Predeceased by her parents: Joseph and Delvina Tremblay; four brothers: Oliver, Joseph, Armand and Reo, one sister, Julie Meili and son-in-law, Lionel Erlendson. She is survived by her family: husband of 52 years, Roland of Spy Hill, Saskatchewan; children: Elaine Erlendson of Spy Hill, Vivian (Mike) Carambetsos of Kenora, Ontario, Michael (Anita) of Moose Jaw and Brian (Georgina) of Yorkton; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren as well as special friends, Jim and Irene Hawes of Ituna and Edna Olson of Edmonton, Alberta. The Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Monday, January 12, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Moose Jaw. Father Brad Fahlman will preside. A Prayer Service led by Ken and Ruby Kerney will be held Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. from the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home, Moose Jaw. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice. In living memory of Florence, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

EVELYN BARBER
1920 - 2003

Evelyn Robina Barber (nee: Hamill) passed away at her daughter’s home in Courtenay, B.C. on April 7, 2003 at the age of 82. Evelyn was born on May 9. 1920 in the Moose Jaw district. She was predeceased by her husband, John (Jack) Kitchener Barber in 2001; by her mother Tina and her father Christie Hamill; one brother, James (Jim); four brothers-in-law: Albert (Ab), Leslie (Les), Robert (Bob), Stout; and two sisters-in-law: Irene (Rene) and Margaret (Mag); and nephew, James (Jamie). She leaves to mourn her loss, son, Richard (Dick) and daughter-in-law, Judith (Judy) of Calgary; daughter, Nicole of Courtenay; and only granddaughter, Cassandra (Casey) Antoine of Nanaimo. Also left to mourn is her sister, Anna Smith; brothers-in-law: Hector (Ruby) and John Symenuk of Moose Jaw, Malcolm (Greta) of Saskatoon, Gordon (Monica) of Vernon; sisters-in-law: Isabella Johnson, Gertie Barber, and Agnes Barber, all of Moose Jaw; and lastly to mourn her passing are many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Evelyn grew up in the Mayberry district and went to school by horse or buggy to Capitol School. She loved to play ball, was an avid runner, a good horsewoman and enjoyed all sports. Evelyn loved to bowl and her favorite sport was curling, which she continued to watch till the day before she died. Evelyn married John Kitchener on the 5th of February in 1941. She accompanied Dad across Canada during the 2nd World War. The people she met and places she lived were always some of her fondest memories. They farmed in the Mayberry district for over 30 years until Evelyn had a heart attack in 1975. The farm was sold and they resided in Moose Jaw for 12 years until they eventually moved to Courtenay on Vancouver Island. One of Evelyn’s greatest loves were her flower gardens, both back on the farm and in Courtenay. She also loved the Saskatchewan sunsets and sunrises and the mountains on the island which she could see from her home. Evelyn taught Sunday school at the Quincy Church and was a member of the Quincy Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Baptist Church for over 30 years. Evelyn was a highly respectable, loving, and kind-hearted woman and will be missed by many. Funeral Services will be held at W.J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel on Saturday, April 12, 2003 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Frank Mitchell will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Visitation for family & friends Friday evening 7 - 8 pm at the Funeral Home. Memorials to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Parkinson’s Society would be appreciated. In living memory of Evelyn Barber, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

TED GEORGESON

It is with deep sadness the family of THEODORE PETER GEORGESON announces the passing from this life on Monday, April 21, 2003 at the age of 76 years. Ted worked at Valley View Centre for 37 years. In retirement he spent 17 winters in Arizona and summers at Buffalo Pound Lake. Left to cherish his memory his loving wife Gladys, son Don (Dianne); daughters: Debra (Robert) Urquhart and Gayle (Clayton) Ealey; granddaughters: Jill (Steve) Ellard, Bre-anne (Mark) DeJose, Kelly (John) Georgeson, grandson Josh, great-granddaughter Olivia Ellard; sisters: Velda Paquette, Edna (Lorie) Noren and Lynn (John) Landygo; brothers: Gordon (Weneen) and Dale as well as uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Peter and Frances and two brothers Walter and Dennis. Following cremation there will be a private family service at Prairie Memorial Columbarium. A Memorial Tea in Ted’s honour will be held on Friday, April 25, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the W. J. Jones & Son Family Centre, 262 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. If so desired, donations may be made to Moose Jaw Union Hospital (Home Care Division), 455 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 1H3. In living memory of Ted, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

JACK HICKS

The family of Jack Hicks are saddened to announce his passing on Friday September 10, 2004 at the age of 83 years. Jack was born to Charles and Olive Hicks on January 10, 1921 in the Eastleigh district. He married Edna Ward on November 21, 1945. Mom and Dad farmed until retiring to Mortlach in 1981. Dad always loved sports and was an avid fan, not only at his son’s games but later at the grandchildren and great grandchildren’s games. After moving to Mortlach Dad enjoyed the Drop In Center and became a very active golfer. In October 2003 they moved to Moose Jaw where Mom passed away suddenly on January 11, 2004. Dad was predeceased by his wife Edna, his parents, brother Wilf, brothers-in-law, Ted Bradley and Len Halford, sister in law, Dot Halford, Peggy Stevenson and Hazel Dunlop. He is survived by his sons: Grant (Fern) and Pat (Joanne); five grandchildren: Shauna (Stu), Paula (Cal), Mark (Tara), Jason (Karla) and Angie. Seven great-grandchildren: Tyrell, Carson, Dayne, Brock, Lexi, Taylor and Adrian; sister: Winnifred Bradley; brothers-in-law: Bob (Ethel) Ward, Ted (Marg) Ward and Orman Stevenson. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Tuesday September14, 2004 at 3:30 p.m. at the W. J. Jones and Son Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw. Della Ferguson will officiate. Memorialization will have taken place at Sunset Cemetery. Donations could be made to Mortlach Drop-In Center and the Mortlach Go-Fore Golf Course or a charity of one's choice. In living memory of Jack Hicks, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

ANNIE CARMAN

Annie A. Carman of Moose Jaw, passed away November 27, 2003 at the age of 80 years. Annie was born in Kilmarnock, Scotland on March 20, 1923 . She worked in a Munitions factory during WWII and in 1943 she met a Canadian Soldier, Harold Carman, who she loved dearly. He went to Italy and Anne waited until he returned from the War and they were married December 26, 1945 . The couple came to Woodrow, Sask. in 1946 and to Moose Jaw in 1947, where she has since resided. Anne worked as a salesclerk, best known for her years at Eaton’s and Sears Catalogue. She is predeceased by her husband, Harold in 1994; her parents, and brothers and sisters in Scotland . Following Anne’s wishes, A Graveside Service will be held at Rosedale Cemetery on Wednesday December 3, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. Legion Padre Doug Shepherd will officiate. Royal Canadian Legion Associate Rites will be conducted. A Memorial Tea will follow at the Royal Canadian Legion. Donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund would be appreciated. In living memory of Annie, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

ERNIE MEADOWS

ERNEST JESSE MEADOWS of Moose Jaw, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 1, 2003, at the age of 90 years. Ernie was born in Valjean, Saskatchewan on December 15, 1912. He married Enid Alice Hall on October 24, 1939 and the couple resided in Chaplin, Moose Jaw and then purchased a farm south of Mortlach in 1945 where they raised four children. They then retired in Moose Jaw where Ernie enjoyed life – family, friends, 4-H and had many hobbies and achievements. Ernie and Enid enjoyed traveling but there was no place like home. Ernie will be sadly missed. Predeceased by his parents; his loving wife for 62 years, Enid, who passed away on May 10, 2001. He missed her dearly and they are once again together. Ernie was also predeceased by all twelve of his sisters and brother. He will be sadly missed by sons: Wayne (Sal) of Vancouver, Ken (Cheryl) of Sylvan Lake, AB, Lloyd (Bonnie) of Red Deer, daughter, Janice (Gary) Stirling of Mortlach as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2003 at 4:00 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Gary Johnson will officiate. Private family interment will take place in the family plot, Mortlach Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and cards, the family request that you please spend some special time with your family, friends and loved ones – they are what really matter. In living memory of Ernie, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
