Mr. Julius Lozinsky
April 14, 1939 - February 20, 2008

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Julius Lozinsky on February 20, 2008.

Julius was born on April 14, 1939 and grew up just outside of Aberdeen, SK in the small community of Laniwci. He finished his high school and met his wife in Saskatoon. Shortly after they were married on February 22, 1958, they moved to Edmonton and began their family.

Julius had various jobs, but what he enjoyed the most was the band he sang and played the guitar in. Julius was also well known for his many "mc" jobs he did at family weddings and children of friends. Julius took a position with Canada Packers that moved the family back to Saskatoon and then on to Winnipeg. Later on, he took a position in Yorkton to work with Leons Manufacturing.

Not done with moving yet, the family moved to Regina in the early 80's as Julius was offered a position with the Investment and Trade Department of the provincial government.

Julius battled with a variety of illnesses throughout the last 20 years and was recently diagnosed with lung cancer.

He was predeceased by his father Walter and brothers Myron and Joseph.

Julius leaves behind a loving wife, of 50 years, Nadia; his three children Debbie Ruth of Regina, Randy Lozinsky of Edmonton and David (Santa) Lozinsky of Riga, Latvia; his mother Frances; his sister Orlene (Gerry) Donnelly of Saskatoon and son-in-law Raymond Ruth of Regina.

A PRAYER SERVICE was held at St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 10th Street and Munroe Avenue, Saskatoon, SK on Sunday, February 24, 2008 at 8:00 p.m.

Jared Helgeton
February 20, 1976 - February 26, 2008

Jared Helgeton passed away on Tuesday, February 26th, 2008.

He was 32 years old, born on February 20th, 1976.

Jared began his schooling at the Weyerhaeuser Pulp Mill Pre-school, and then started kindergarten at Vickers.

When the family moved to their country home he attended Meath Park School from grades 5 – 9.

He graduated from Carlton Comprehensive High School in 1994.

Jared married Veneece Chetty in 1994 and in that fall, welcomed the birth of their daughter, Taylor Allison.

After working in Saskatoon as a car detailer, Jared and Veneece moved back to Prince Albert where he managed the family business of Mills Bros.

He was employed with Anderson Motors in the parts department at the time of his death.

Jared’s many attributes were obvious to others but were rarely acknowledged by him.

Anything he attempted had to be done to perfection and he therefore had a reputation for fine detail and a polished final product.

He was often the go-to guy for help with fix-it jobs and was trusted to get the job done right.

He was talented with electronics and stereos, computers, auto mechanics and detailing.

He was also very gifted in art and had a collection of drawings from a young age that were impressive. Music was another interest.

He listened to a wide variety of genres. He had a good ear for playing guitar and recognizing individual instruments in compositions.

In his free time Jared enjoyed playing video games late into the night with his brother in law, Bryan.

He was also an avid movie buff with a large DVD collection. Jared was a private person.

Those he considered friends saw his unique inner qualities.

His motto was “quality over quantity”.

This was evident in the friends he chose as well as his belongings.

When those who knew him best are asked what they will remember of him, they’d say he was “quiet, quick witted, a realist, and straight forward, smart, honest, helpful, and loyal”.

Jared is survived by his daughter Taylor and her mother Veneece Chetty; mother Brenda; sister Selynn & brother in law Bryan Karolat; his grandparents Eldon and Honora Letkeman and Wildrew Lang; his aunts and uncles Gloria (John) Classen, Barbara (Bill) Norris, Fred (Jackie) Helgeton, Ross (Colleen) Helgeton, Gordon Helgeton, Sydney Helgeton, David (Melani) Helgeton, Garry (Carla) Helgeton and many cousins.

He was predeceased by his father Tom Helgeton and grandparents Evie Helgeton/Lang and Helmer Helgeton.

Jared will always be lovingly remembered and sadly missed.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 6 from Messiah Lutheran Church, 1796 – 15 Avenue East.

Pastor Dan Haugen will officiate.

Private family interment of cremated remains will take place in the Shell Lake Cemetery.

In lieu of other tributes, donations to a trust fund may be made for Jared’s daughter, Taylor Helgeton-Chetty c/o Faith Life Financial, 513 Baycroft Dr., Martensville, SK. S0K 2T0 Ph. (306) 931-7625.

RIVER PARK MEMORIAL CHAPEL is entrusted with the care of the funeral arrangements. 764-2727, Don Moriarty, Funeral Director

Wylma Pearle Knight
September 14, 1915 - March 9, 2008

KNIGHT – Wylma Pearle has rejoined her husband John (Jack) after 45 years of separation. Although we are tremendously saddened by the loss of our mom and nana, we have at the same time, a sense of relief and joy that she has finally been released from the prison of Alzheimers Disease and is no longer suffering. Grandma and Grandpa McVeigh emigrated from Iowa in the early 1900’s. Mom was born on September 14th, 1915. They lived on various farms in the Kenaston district where she grew up and attended Zid School. It was on the farm that her love of horses was evident and she always told us that she rode everywhere on her horse Molly. Mom met the love of her life, Jack and they were married in June of 1940. Unfortunately, right after the ceremony, our dad had to board the train for Petawawa, as he had enlisted in the army. Mom was able to follow later and Edwin (Teddy) was born in Barrie, Ontario. Dad’s health problems led to a discharge and the start of many hospital stays throughout the next twenty years. Sharon was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, as Dad was in hospital there and while mom was visiting him, she went into labor. They settled in Kenaston where Lynne, Patti and Shelley joined the growing family. In 1954, we moved to the “little town” of North Park in the “big city” of Saskatoon, SK. The family joined St. Marks’ Anglican Church, where mom was very active in the women’s vestry, among other things. She was a life-time member of the Kenaston Ladies Auxilliary of the Royal Canadian Legion and maintained many strong friendships from there over the years. She was always very involved in our school and neighborhood activities. She loved the “sewing circle” comprised of the ladies of North Park and always made her special desserts when it was her turn to host (we did not get to sample these goodies unless they left some, which wasn’t very often!). She took many different classes in flower arranging, tiling, decoupage, marble art, enjoying and excelling at the many things she created. Some of us were lucky to inherit this artistic talent from her. Her other love was the piano. Her mother taught her to play which she did whenever she could. She did try to teach us how to play, but she was not successful, although Edwin did eventually learn how to play Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star! Some of our fondest memories as children and grandchildren were of mom and nana playing and singing so we could “dance” around the living room. While our dad was still alive and healthy enough, we were lucky enough to spend part of each summer camping at Fishing Lake, where we hosted all the many cousins who lived in and around Clair. She also loved to travel and took many trips across Canada and the U.S., visiting relatives and sightseeing. The most rewarding part of mom’s life was when her grandchildren started (and continued!) to arrive. Nana spent countless hours having sleepovers, playing games, watching movies, taking them all on special shopping trips, or just sitting in the gazebo “having tea”. All the grandchildren cherish these special times spent with their beloved nana. Left to cherish memories of mom and a special nana are: Doyle and Cheryl McVeigh (David and Dale and families); Edwin (Ted) Knight and Cindy Bardy (Kelly John Knight); Sharon Knight and Terry McAuley (Robert Knight, Tamarie and Leonard Hudon, Celeste, Victor and her only great great grandchild, Camilo Sky); Lynne and Ecki Treutler (Dani and Jaimie Treutler; Nicole, Jeremy and Riley Kitson); Patti Boton and Danny Ritchie (Tasha Boton and Mark McMurchy, Cloe Boton and Ben Drake, David Ritchie); Shelley and Ken Neufeld (Jason and Heather Neufeld, Scott, Kristin, and Elli Neufeld, Jenn and Blake Bryant); Shirlie Rusch, her special niece – they were like sisters, being only five years apart in age; many many nieces and nephews; cousins and their families. She was predeceased by her husband John Thomas (Jack); her parents Orr and Lizzie McVeigh; her siblings and spouses; Ray and Katie McVeigh; Velma and Grant Closson; Leone and Cliff Orser. Mom was able to remain in “ the house that Jack built” for 47 years. A two and a half year stay at Luther Tower was followed by three and a half years at Homestyle Care Home/Sunburst Retreat before her move to the Warman Mennonite Special Care Home in July of 2007. To Diane Schmitt, Bonnie Panamaroff and all the staff at the care home, we will be forever grateful for the loving and compassionate care given over those five years. To everyone at the WMSCH, we cannot even begin to express our sincere thanks for the awesome care given; the love shown; and all the special things that you did for her. God Bless You All. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 13th, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th Street, turn right before the railway crossing) with Reverend Karen Sandell officiating. Interment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family would like to invite you to come and share memories with us on Wednesday evening, March 13th, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Wylma’s memory may be made to the Alzheimers Society of Saskatchewan (1405 Faulkner Crescent, Saskatoon, SK S7L 3R5) or the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund (3021 Louise Street, Saskatoon, SK S7J 3L1). Arrangements have been entrusted to Ken Scheirich, HILLCREST FUNERAL HOME 477-4400.
