BILL TITUS

Bill’s sudden passing on April 3, 2005 has brought great sorrow to his family. Born January 9, 1948 in London, Ontario to Bill and Lil Titus. He met Carol, his wife of twenty-eight years and together decided to come to Moose Jaw where they married in 1976. He enjoyed working for himself as a handyman on everything from shingling a roof to renovating a basement until his arthritis prevented him. Bill had a large heart and a wild spirit. Predeceased by his parents and a brother, D’Wayne, foster son, ‘Roddy’ and best friends Don Gould and Bob Brentnell. Bill will be greatly missed by wife, Carol; sisters: Donna Harvey of Collingwood, Drene (Jose) DaCruz of Cambridge and Diane (Larry) Paradis of London, brother, Danny (Irene); sisters-in-law: Joan (Jack) Packer, Grace (John) Kerkvleit, Jean (Ken) Boudreau and Rose Palmer (Terry); brothers-in-law: Robert (Lisa) Palmer and George (Diane) Palmer, as well as many nieces and nephews, and special friends: Jazzmin, David and Danny. A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw. Della Ferguson will officiate. Cremation will take place with memorialization in Oshawa, Ontario at a later date. For those so wishing, memorial donations may be directed to the Arthritis Society, 110-2550-12th Ave., Regina, Sask., S4P 3X1 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, Sask., S6H 2M2. JEAN BARNETT

Mrs. Jean Barnett of Moose Jaw, passed away on Friday February 27, 2004 at the age of 76 years. Jean was born on April 29, 1927 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to William and Mabel Francis. She was raised in the Davie district north east of Moose Jaw. Jean is survived by her husband of 55 years, Leo Barnett; Her five children: Larry (Dale) – (Tarrel & Tarrie) - Abbottsford, B.C.; Barry (Marlene) – (Russell (Jennifer), Bobbi-Jo & Kelly-Rae) - Moose Jaw; Blair (Teddi & Dustin) – Moose Jaw; Debra (Cam) Myers -(Jerri-Lynn (Sean), Melissa, Kyle & Brady) - Moose Jaw; Bonnie (Tim) Weinbender - (Ashlynn, Clark & Madison) - Morse, SK; great-grandchildren- Colbey, Bradley, Austin, Baillie, Spencer, Taylor & Justyn. Also survived by her brothers: Gordon (Vivian) Francis – Moose Jaw; Harold (Pat) Francis – Garden City, Minnesota; Don (Mary) Francis – Moose Jaw and her sisters: Betty (Art) Maunder – Eyebrow, SK and Doreen MacLauchlan – Esbank, SK; as well as many numerous other family members and friends. The Funeral Service will be held at the W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Thursday March 4, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Della Ferguson will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends Wednesday evening from 7- 9 at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Moose Jaw Union Hospital Foundation – 455 Fairford St. E. Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1H3. ROSE GUY

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of wife and mother, Rose Marie Guy (Sikorski). Rose was born December 7, 1946 in Lestock, Saskatchewan. She married the love of her life, Gary Guy on September 30, 1966. To this union two wonderful children were born, Darlene and Duane. They resided in Swift Current Saskatchewan, Thompson Manitoba, finally settling in Moose Jaw, making it their home since 1972. Rose is predeceased by her parents, Michael and Maizie Sikorski, and father-in-law, Roy Guy. She is survived by her husband and best friend for over 37 years, Gary; daughter, Darlene and son, Duane; sister, Josephine (Keith) Fjaagesund of Neepewa, MB; brother, James (Joanne) Sthamann of Swift Current; sisters, Peggy (Barry) Crowther of Chaplin, and Shelly (Jim) Alexanderson of Moose Jaw; mother-in-law, Gladys Guy of Moose Jaw; brother-in-law, Garth (Delores) of Regina; and sister-in-law, Lynn (Pat) Reilly of Regina. Rose is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and two very special children in her life, Joey and Alicia Reader of Moose Jaw. Rose gave her time to many things, including minor league baseball where she made sure every player played ball. She was also very active in the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. She gave many hours helping with fundraising campaigns for the club. Rose loved gardening, crafts, baking, her family and friends, and Christmas. She will remain in our hearts and souls in this time of wait for our eternal embrace. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, 223 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 0E2, would be appreciated. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 561 Home Street West, Moose Jaw on Tuesday January 13, 2004 at 2:00 pm. Linda Owens will officiate. IRVING GOSLING

Irving James Gosling, now of Moose Jaw and long-time resident of Parkbeg, Sask. died Wednesday, May 7, 2003 in Moose Jaw Union Hospital . Irving was born Jan. 3, 1917 and lived all his life loving the land and the wonder of it’s harvest. He was raised on the Gosling homestead northwest of Parkbeg beside Gosling Lake and worked the land until his retirement into the village of Parkbeg . He took pride in developing his property, planting trees, Saskatoon and Chokecherry bushes and nurturing his pride and joy, a pear tree which last summer yielded an abundant crop. Irving served overseas during the Second World War and was part of the liberation of Holland during 1945. He was an avid curler, travelling with his teams to many bonspiels throughout the area. He was also a devoted fisherman in winter and summer, and a hunter in the fall. He loved wildlife and nature and was happiest when he was among the creatures of the land. He believed in supporting his community and was a ready source of financial aid for worthy projects and individuals in Parkbeg and area. Irving was an active member of the Saskatchewan Wheal Pool, the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation and the Chaplin branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was always willing to help his neighbours and valued friendships that thrived on a handshake. His sense of humour, his knowledge of world affairs and his ability to spin stories of the past endeared him to a wide audience, including the morning coffee club at the Moose Jaw Co-op cafeteria. Irving was predeceased by his father, James Gosling, and his mother, Ruth Garrett; sisters Charlotte, Pola and Oriole; nephews, Bill, Melvin and Derrick; and several uncles including Casey Steele and Harold Davey of Moose Jaw . He is survived by his faithful companion, Rosie; sister, Wanda; aunts, Mildred Steele and Ruby Davey of Moose Jaw; nephews, Clifford (Diane), Pat, Robert and Corbin, and niece Carla; brother-in-law, Roger; cousins, Joyce (Ron), Marlene, Roscoe (Marcene), and Georgina (Byron) as well as many other great nieces and nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at W.J. Jones and Son Funeral Chapel, Saturday, May 10, 2003 at 1:30 pm., with Della Ferguson officiating. Royal Canadian Legion Rites will be conducted by Moose Jaw Branch No. 59. Interment will follow at the family plot in the Mortlach Cemetery . Memorials to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund, 268 High St. W., Moose Jaw., would be appreciated. In living memory of Irving, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. BELLE PARANUIK

Aspazia (Belle) Paranuik was born July 11, 1917, at her parents’ farmhouse in the Truax District. Belle married and settled on a farm nearby where she lived and farmed for the duration of her life. Belle is predeceased by her husband, George Paranuik, (1977); her parents Rachael and George Syhlonyk; four brothers, Mike, John, William, and Alex; and her grandson, Michael Paranuik (1987). She is survived by her children, William (Antonica) Paranuik of Calgary, AB; Elizabeth (Keith) Harrison of Edmonton, AB; George (Marlene) Paranuik of Avonlea, SK; and Philip (Connie) Paranuik of St. Albert, AB and eight grandchildren: Jacqui, Jenn, Brad (Barb), Joanne, George (Jaimie), Stephanie, Sheri (Greg) and Audrey (Sheldon). Belle is also survived by brothers: Anthony (Jean); Daniel (Eva) Syhlonyk; sister Sophie (O’Neil) Gieni, and numerous nieces and nephews. Evening Prayers will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Tuesday May 6, 2003 at 7:30 pm. Funeral Services and interment will be held at St. Mary’s Romanian Orthodox Church on Wednesday May 7, 2003 at 11:00 am, with Father Stacey Richter officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Avonlea Volunteer Firefighters and/or First Response Team c/o Village of Avonlea, SK., would be appreciated. IDELLA HAAKENSEN

With great sadness, the family of Idella Haakensen announce her passing on Monday, April 21, 2003 at the age of 93 years at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, Red Deer, Alberta with her family at her side. Our mom was born in Effington, South Dakota on December 26, 1909. She came to Canada in 1915, residing in various locations until moving to Moose Jaw in 1957. While living in Cadillac, Mom belonged to many clubs and worked diligently for the community resulting in some very close friends. Idella and her friends also enjoyed curling together while she was living in Cadillac. Mom was a very busy and happy person, raising a family was her first concern. She loved to keep her hands busy and was a very talented lady crocheting, tatting, knitting, sewing, reading, doing crossword puzzles and loved a good game of cards. In the year 2000, she decided to make dolls, which by the spring of this year, there were approximately two hundred sitting in ever so many homes, for many miles around. Making them out of socks, their outfits were made of T-shirts, all with curly hair and eyes with eye shadow to match the outfits. Idella loved to travel and enjoyed her last trip on April 9th to Alberta. Idella leaves to mourn and miss her ever so much her children, Dorothy Olynek of Moose Jaw, Faye (Herb) Anderson of Shaunavon, Sk, Keith Haakenson of Sherwood Park, AB, Carol Park of Red Deer, AB, seventeen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and six great, great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Wilma Haakenson of Cadillac, SK. and Mildred Wilson of Fort McLeod, AB, various relatives in the United States, several nieces and nephews and a very large extended family, calling her grandma. Idella was predeceased by her beloved husband, Trygve (Trix) October 6, 1984, an infant daughter (Dolores) in 1929, son, Kenneth and baby daughter, Ruth in 1938 and son, Wayne in 1962, both her parents, grandson, Gordon Scansen in 1972, daughter-in-law, Gladys Thompson, sons-in-law, Kenneth Scansen, Stan Olynek and Lawrence Park, two brothers, Les and Vernon Wilson, sister, Hazel Labrie, three brothers-inlaw, Hector Labrie, Harold and Louis Haakenson, two sisters-in-law, Muriel Haakenson and Annie Wilson. A Celebration of Idella’s Life will be held W. J. Jones & Son Chapel, on Friday, April 25, 2003 at 1:30 pm with Pastor Doug Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. If desired, Memorial Donations in Idella’s Honour may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Box 521, Moose Jaw, S6H 4P2. In living memory of Idella, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

JOHN NOBLE

Norman John Noble of the Mitchellton district, passed away March 20, 2003 with his family at his side, at St. Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Saskatoon. John was born on January 31, 1932 to Margaret “Peggy” and James Noble on the farm in the Mitchellton district near Mossbank, Sask. The farm was always home to John, except while attending the University of Saskatchewan for his Diploma in Agriculture (1951). John married Joyce Aldous in 1961, beginning a life long partnership on the farm. He always enjoyed farming, the rural way of life, and having his family working and playing together on the farm. John served on the R.M.of Lake Johnson No. 102 Council for 14 years. He also served his community on the Sask.Wheat Pool committee, United Church board, and a leader for the Twin Lakes 4-H Multi Club for more than 27 years. John and Joyce were honored to be the first couple inducted into the Saskatchewan 4-H Hall of Fame in 1990. In 1996 he was honored to receive the Distinguished Graduate in Agriculture Award from the School of Agriculture. In 2001 he was presented with an Honorary Life Membership by the Saskatchewan Agriculture Graduates Association at his classes’ 50 year reunion. Since 1995 he was a member of the Us Too (prostate cancer) support group. He was a Past Master of the Mossbank Masonic Lodge No. 129, a Past Patron of the Assiniboia Chapter No.8 Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Moose Jaw Scottish Rite, the Lodge of Perfection, Rose Croix, and the Royal Order of Scotland. He was also chairman of the Mitchellton-Garrett School reunion committee in 1994. John cherished the many friendships he made throughout his travels and life. He and his family drew great strength from these friendships in recent months. Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his wife, Joyce; son, Garry (Antoinette) and grandchildren, John, Allie, and James of Assiniboia; daughter, Joan (Mark) Fedak and grandchildren, Amy and Max of LeRoy; brothers, James (Elsie McClelland) of Regina; Stewart (Donalda) of Moose Jaw; and sister, Margaret Deagle of Moose Jaw; also in-laws, Myrtle (Gary) Naugler of Saskatoon; Courtney Vaudner of Melville; and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of John’s Life will be held at Zion United Church, 423 Main St. N., Moose Jaw, on Tuesday March 25, 2003 at 1:30 pm. Reverend George Holliday, Mr. Gerrard Corby and Dr. Bob Kimmerly will officiate. Masonic Rites will be conducted by the Mossbank Lodge No.129. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit, 1702 20th ST.W., Saskatoon, S7M0Z9, the Canadian Cancer Society (Prostate Research), 223 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 0E2, or the charity of choice, would be appreciated. In living memory of John, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
