On January 17, 2003, Hazel Eleanor Miner passed away in the Central Butte Hospital with her family by her side. Hazel was raised in Demaine and was married to Joe Miner on October 14, 1947 . They began their marriage and family in a small house west of Riverhurst. Several years were spent in Riverhurst and after purchasing land from Jack Ewen, they moved to the farm and lived there until 1977. Hazel lived in Riverhurst until she moved to Central Butte Manor where she resided until her passing. Hazel loved her children and grandchildren and was involved with their many activities. Hazel devoted many hours with home care in the community, socializing with friends and making crafts. She enjoyed life and we all will miss her. Hazel is predeceased by her husband, Raymond Joseph Miner; her parents, William John Swan and Mary Eleanor ( Maines ) Swan; sister, Beryl Burgoyne; and brother, Garth Swan. She is survived by her sister, Alena (Alf) Saxton; brother, Ron (Ruth) Swan; sons, Ray (Sharon) Miner; Glen Miner; Devone (Donna) Miner; daughter, Veloy Emerson; son, Randy (Celine) Miner; daughter, Jill (Dave) Cressy; ten grandchildren: Heather (Chris) Cywnar; Jared (Jolene) Miner; Jaymie Miner; Ryan (Tricia) Miner; Tanya (Avan) Miner; Deidre Emerson; Scott Emerson; Brittney Cressy; Satara Cressy; and Jake Cressy; two great-grandchildren: Bryce Erickson and Jesse Miner. The Service of Remembrance was held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Central Butte on Monday January 20, 2003 at 2:00 pm . Sister Theresa Frey officiated. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Central Butte Hospital, would be appreciated. In living memory of Hazel, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by Prairie Memorial Funeral Home, Chaplin/Herbert, Sask.
CLINTON GROBOWSKY
Clinton Wade Grobowsky died suddenly at the Regina General Hospital on July 29, 2003 at the age of 41 years. Clinton was born in Shaunavon, Sask., graduating from Yorkton Regional High School in 1979. He is survived by his grandmothers: Mary Melnychuk of Endeavour, SK; Veronica Grobowsky of Shaunavon, SK; parents, Irene and Raymond Grobowsky of Moose Jaw; two brothers, Brian of Moose Jaw and Jeffrey (Renee) and his stepchildren Derek and Sabrina Turcotte of Yorkton; as well as aunts and uncles: Belle (Peter) Schmidt of Kirkland, WA; Kathleen (Phil) Pendleton of Houston, Texas; Eva (Jerry) Hutchison of Gilbert, Arizona; Jack (Gayle) Grobowsky of Freeport, the Bahamas; Reta (Bob) Kirk of Edmonton, AB; Vern (Judy) Grobowsky of Rivers, MB; Linda (Ray) Hanlon of Swift Current, SK.; and numerous cousins. The Funeral Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Saturday August 2, 2003 at 10:30 am. Father Gerry Bauche officiating. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. EDWIN KRAUSE
Edwin Henry Krause passed away peacefully in his sleep at Extendicare on January 19, 2003. Ed was born at the family farm in the Parkbeg District on June 5, 1911 to Charlie and Alvina (Zielke) Krause. He spent his entire life except for the last 22 months at the farm where he was raised in the Parkbeg and Eskbank Districts. Ed’s pride and joy in life was his family, farm, and nature. He had a great respect and appreciation for the land and all it grew. Ed was an avid weather watcher and dearly loved animals. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, curling, and community activities. Predeceased by his brother, Albert in 1999; sister, Annie Parsons in 2000; daughter, Barbara McIntyre in 1994; and grandson, Dean McIntyre in 2001. Ed is survived by his son, Arnold (Lila) Krause of Saskatoon; daughter, Marlene (Garry) Bruce of Calgary; and their mother, Hilda; grandchildren: Janet (Trevor) Wannop of Calgary; Jeffrey (Andrea) Krause of Edmonton; Jocelyn Krause of Saskatoon; Lori (Grant) Henningsen of Duluth, MN; Brian Bruce (Marcella)of Curacao; and Trent (Stacey) McIntyre of Moose Jaw; great-grandchildren: Tyler and Jordan Krause; Spencer, Connor, and Justin Wannop; Rebecca and Katelyn Henningsen; and Chloe McIntyre; son-in-law, Don (Kathy) McIntyre of Moose Jaw; nieces, nephews and his other relatives. Memorialization will take place at Sunset Cemetery on Friday, January 24, at 10:30 am. Those wishing to join the cortege may meet at the Funeral Home east parking lot at 10:15 am. CURTIS NEW
Curtis passed away suddenly on vacation in the Dominican Republic January 15, 2004. He was born in Moose Jaw on March 30, 1954 and married Donna Canevaro on July 13, 1974. They spent most of their lives in Mossbank, Saskatchewan. Curtis farmed for thirteen years then was hired on at CP Railway in 1984. In 1986, he and his family moved to Moose Jaw. Curtis had many interests and hobbies. One of his greatest passions was snowboarding. As a result of his love for snowboarding, Curtis and Donna opened a snowboarding store (New Board Shop) in downtown Moose Jaw then a second location at the Town N’ Country Mall. He was involved with C.A.S.I. (Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors) for six years and had been appointed to the National Board of Directors, spending many years as a director on the Board for White Track Ski area. Curtis travelled extensively to many ski resorts across Canada. He was a very well rounded person who enjoyed various activities such as wakeboarding, stained glass making, movies, cooking and driving freight trains. Above all, his greatest love was for his family whether at home or on vacation. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends whether is be over a cup of coffee or riding the powder. Curtis was an extremely hard worker with innovative ideas, always on the search for his “next big project”. He was very strong minded and directed. Predeceased by his father, Lawrence New and his grandparents. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Donna. Two daughters: Shannon (Clint) Robinson of Red Deer, Alta. and Mindy New of Saskatoon, his mother, Rose New and brother, Ron (Jenny) New, Samantha and Piper. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. at the Alliance Church (corner of 9th N.W. and Thatcher Drive). Della Ferguson will officiate. Mr. August Lapointe of Providence Place passed away on December 22, 2004 at the age of 92 years. Born August 1, 1912 at Coronach Saskatchewan. Predeceased by his wife Elizabeth. There will be no funeral services. Cremation with final memorialization at a later date.
NORMAN KENNEDY
January 7, 1927 – August 23, 2003
It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of our beloved husband, father and grandfather. Norm was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and began working in Weyburn as a young man. In 1956, he married Doreen and began a career in the Canadian Armed Forces. While stationed in Germany, their daughter Linda was born. Norm was a committed family man and his pride and joy was in following the activities of his family. Norm enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, all sports and the outdoors and animals. He had an enormous flare for cooking and loved to have his family around to enjoy a meal. Norm was inspirational and courageous, whose strength touched all who knew him. His grandchildren were uppermost in his mind. Norm is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Doreen, daughter, Linda and grandchildren: Rob, Matt and Nikki – all of Moose Jaw. He also leaves to mourn his sister, Florence (Bill) Mryglod of Weyburn and sister, Joan (Darrel) Dick of Regina as well as a large extended family. A Celebration of Norman’s Life will be held on Friday, August 29, 2003 at 1:30 pm in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Della Ferguson will officiate. Private family memorialization will take place in Rosedale Cemetery at a later date. GARY GARDNER
It is with regret that we announce the sudden passing of GARY DOUGLAS GARDNER in Foothills Hospital, Calgary on May 9, 2004. Gary was born in Central Butte on September 8, 1953. He received his education in Tugaske and Eyebrow. After finishing school he farmed until 1988, moving to Brooks, Alberta where he worked at Payless Gas for a short time, and then for Armor Construction until his passing. Gary had a love for family - reunions, cards, camping, pool, golf, fishing and camp fires. He had an incredible sense of humor and a love for life. Gary is survived by his mother, Marge Bruce of Tugaske, brother, Monty (Lynn) Gardner of Tugaske, nephew, Todd (Brandie) Gardner, Madison, Braydon of Tugaske, niece, Tisha (Troy) Clark, Kyra of Medicine Hat, Alta., as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, a host of friends from Tugaske and Brooks, and will be remembered by his special friend, his dog, Polar. Gary was predeceased by his step-father, Charlie Bruce. Following cremation, A Celebration of Gary’s Life will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the Tugaske Community Hall. Reverend Rick McCorrister will officiate. Memorialization will follow at Tugaske Cemetery.
